  • Why is there a delay in digital TV and analog TV / radio?

In watching TV and radio simulcasts, there seems to be a big lag between digital TV and radio.

The same delay exists between analog and digital TV.

    Why does this happen?

  • Is there some way to revive Li-ion rechargable batteries?

I have a camcorder / Mini Disc Li-ion battery that is not very old and no longer takes a charge.

Is there someway I can "shock" this battery back to life? I know it can be done as the battery that this pack replaced was "shocked" back to life by a "Batteries Plus" store. Unfortunately, they are no longer in my area.

Would love to be green and get this working and not have to throw this to the eternal battery graveyard in the sky.

    Thanks.

  • Can I Directional Average Bearings For Best / Most DTV Reception?

I've been getting great answers, thank you Stephen P, Jeh 9211.

According to Antennaweb.org, most all of my stations signals are going to be found at heading 240 and 173 Deg.

Are the directionality of antennas forgiving enough to aim at 206Deg?

  • Digital / Analog TV Signals After Feb 2009?

Is it true only full power stations are required to go digital after Feb 2009?

If so, when will lower power / smaller market stations required to and this means that I will have to maintain both analog / digital antennas and tuners?

When will all TV stations go full digital?

  • DTV Signals After Feb 2009?

In an attempt to set up my analog TV(s) for the upcoming switchover I have bought my alotment of A --> D converter boxes and a couple of new outdoor antennas.

I am trying to tune my antennas for best signal reception and have aimed them according to my street address and local NY metro broadcasters using antennaweb.org.

I still cannot reliably receive a couple of my major network affiliates, CBS, ABC AND most IMPORTANTLY PBS.

I have a couple of questions:

    1. Come Feb 2009, will the broadcasters boost the power output of their digital signal? as they will no longer have to broadcast in analog?

    2. Is there a NAB section where the NYC metro broadcasters publish their power output / transmitter locations so I can make sure to point the antenna(s) perfectly?

    3. What other methods can I use on the receiving end to boost my digital signal received from a couple of outdoor antennas?

I am fiddling around NOW when the weather is GOOD.

Thanks for any / all answers...........

  • New Age Music Jazz Origins?

I'm rediscovering some of my ECM recordings and have found many to be reclassified as New Age (iTunes, etc....) when the original recording was classified as Jazz.

Do you think New Age music has its origins in Inspirational Jazz? In a more accessible / mainstream form?

The ultimate being John Coltrane's, A Love Supreme, some from his First Meditations, Ornette Coleman's songbook.

    What do you think? Comments?
