Assuming that these concepts are at odds with each other, which would you rather be, Happy or Free?
Classic philosophical question. Promoting discussion.
I pity that some can not suspend disbelief long enough to reflect upon the ramifications of an 'hypothetical' assumption. Considering that that is how Einstein first developed the idea of relativity, maybe I should assume that only a few are capable of such a 'thought experimentation'.

6 AnswersBooks & Authors8 years agoWhy do some ranting questions get removed quickly and others not?
4 AnswersYahoo Answers8 years agoIs it considered ranting if a question is asked with the sole intent to reassure and validate its author?
If so, how should we deal with questions that may be suspect but don't make their intention to rant known until they choose a best answer?
1 AnswerYahoo Answers8 years agoWhat is the difference between writing within the realm of popular myth and lore, and fan-fiction?
If fan-fiction is a personalized version of popular fiction, are stories based upon myth and lore fan-fiction?
What does this say about stories concerning the private lives of greek gods, vampires, and Hansel & Gretl?
3 AnswersBooks & Authors8 years agoIs anyone hesitant of watching the new show "Under the Dome" because they read the book?
I've never read a book that was too tragic for me until this one, if only because I live in a small, quiet, and friendly Maine town.
3 AnswersDrama8 years agoWhat would you consider too tragic in a fictional story line, enough for you to dislike the entire story?
An example of this for me is "Under the Dome". I read the entire book but its was simply too tragic for me to suggest to anyone else
4 AnswersBooks & Authors8 years agoYour opinion of novels that include stand alone short stories to supplement the novel's plot development?
An example of this would be a third person story about a protagonist that includes the fictional work of said protagonist.
2 AnswersBooks & Authors8 years agoWhat do think of a fictional monster that can manipulate sound to the degree that it can sound like anything?
Regardless of what the monster looks like or behaves, do you think this monster could be a successful horror genre monster in either film or print?
Frankly, this scares me greatly, mainly for its ability to sound inconspicuous, naive, and sweet. It ultimately plays to a monster that is mainly a trickster, impostor.
5 AnswersBooks & Authors8 years agoDo you enjoy a main character who is questioning their sanity, but is the only one who can know the truth?
This is a very depressing, tragic story line, but is it at all entertaining? I am worried it's is either too cerebral or simply too tragically confusing.
To elaborate, my character is hearing voices they may actually be real intrusions on his brain by a feasible, new technology, but could quite possibly be simple schizophrenia. The story is my attempt to elaborate on the idea of sane, insane person and how that fine line would literally sever someone from society and themselves. I guess one could say its a story about a sane person who suddenly starts displaying symptoms of insanity, but ultimately those symptoms cause him to eventually, truly go insane.
2 AnswersBooks & Authors8 years agoHow would you respond to a main character that is a being equivalent to a monotheistic God?
I am writing two fantasy novels about a character that is unaware he and/or she is an omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscience god.
Think in terms of the christian God wanting to experience a regular human life and having a vital part of itself reborn anew. Both stories take place in worlds where there is mind over matter, say magicians or psychics, and these main characters are mysteriously powerful and they themselves truly don't know the true ramifications.

4 AnswersOther - Internet8 years agoHow important is it to you to be right?
Is it more important to have a best answer, and to answer in a way that secures the the title of best answer?
I really don't believe being right is even important on Yahoo answers and it should be more of a polling and discussion site. Even so, fake questions and answers would make it incredibly hard to take polls and discussions seriously. Even more, due to cognitive dissonance, this site is ultimately a fishing expedition. Is it unfair or inappropriate to feel this way? is there a better site for polling and discussion?
2 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups8 years agoDo we have the right to revolt, and is there such a thing as a one-man revolution?
Thomas Jefferson believed that the public should revolt as frequently as once every 20 years, and yet many protests and initial plans to revolt are seen as either terrorism, criminal, or simply, disturbing the peace. Why does it appear to be impossible to hold even a peaceful revolution, let alone change and remedy social injustice
"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure." - Thomas Jefferson

4 AnswersOther - Society & Culture8 years agoWith this rate of technological advance, do you believe that eventually humanity will conquer time travel?
If yes, what can and should humanity do with such technology? Is there a period of time where interaction may not lead to a new timeline (i.e. the time period or individual was/is/ever will be consequential)? Playing devil's advocate, is the fact that ancient mysteries pervade our popular society a sign that we are already in a new time-line, and even more, that humanity learned from early mistakes (and may have tried to fix it) and are now employing a process that allows them to observe without effecting?
