1 AnswerMathematics6 years agoHow do you roll d's?
Ok, so my friend is Czech, and she has a very authentic last name. She told me that you have to roll the d'to pronounce it accurately. I have knowledge in the area of phonetics and have never encountered a sound in any language that involves rolling a d. I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge as to how that works, and if one knows how it works, what is the IPA symbol to mark rolling a d?
1 AnswerLanguages6 years agoWhat is the purpose of a greatest integer function, or step function?
I know what it is and that is is written out as y=[x]. It just seems dumb and pointless. My dad tells me to not waist my time on it, but I want to find a point to it and find when it can be useful. It is kind of man made, but so is an absolute value function. The difference is that absolute value functions have many real world applications that are undeniable such as in distance and in making a variables positive or negative as |x| or -|x|. When/how/why is a step function useful and not dumb?
