  • child won't eat food but always sucking/eating her hair!!!?

my step daughter(who is 8) is a nightmare when it comes to eating, every week when she visits us there we have trouble getting her to eat!! a couple of years ago she used to a varied and healhty diet but over the past year she refuses to eat any vegetables or fruit stating she doesn't like them anymore, she has gone off cheese, potatoes, sausage, chicken, fish, and will not even entertain soup, beans, pasta, rice! she is basically living on jam sandwichs and desserts!!! my partner and i have spoken to my step daughters mother who seems to just let her do whatever she wants for an easy life!! i have made some rules at home such as ;; if you don't eat your meal you don't get dessert, i always try and put new/exciting/different foods on the table at meal times and encourage all of the children( i have two boys aged 8 & 9) to try different things, i hoped that if she saw the boys trying different things it might spur her own to do the same.

this has started to cause arguements between my partner and i as my step daughter is starting to throw tantrums at the diner table!! my partner says we should just let her eat dessert and no meal but i think this is wrong as it can't be good for her to just eat dessert all the time and its unfair to my sons!

she has also started to constantly suck and chew on her hair, when we pick her up from school her hair is all matted and stuck together at the ends, she is asked to stop by her father but just ignores him or bursts into tears, i have suggested she made need to speak to someone or a doctor because i am really starting to worry about her not eating properly especially with her hair eating tendencies, but her school have said they've not seen her with her hair in her mouth, and although she openly chews/sucks her hair in front of them my partner and his ex refuse to address the issue.

could anybody please advise me on this??

  • what should i do about my relationship?

i have been with my partner for two years, i love him deeply and we have been through so much together, but from the off we have had a turbulent relationship, he works shifts(2 weeks of days &2 weeks of nights) which leaves him tired and moody, i some times feel he treats me like a slave, i get up every morning at 5;30 either to greet him with breakfast as he comes off nights or make him breakfast and a packed lunch for days, i spend the day running errands for him and then make sure i rush straight home after picking my children up from school to make his tea, last year i got a job but had so much hassle from him i gave it up(things like :you think more of your job than me!! : your never here for me anymore) and lately he is saying i am lazy and should go out and get a job!!! i cant win either way!! it was my birthday and valentines day last weekend and he made such an effort(even though for the past 2 years he has caused an argument and not spoken to me for days)we had a great weekend together and it reminded me of how things used to be but true to form monday he started to say i was lazy and say some disrespectful things about my family!! , don't get me wrong we have had some great times together and he used to make me feel like the most important person in the world but lately that all seems like a distant memory, i want us to be together but right now i dont see a future in our relationship and it hurts me deeply
