What's a noun for someone who is always in trouble?
The word doesn't necessarily imply intentionality--the person does not necessarily cause the trouble, although s/he might. S/he might coincidentally just have bad luck and end up in trouble a lot. Basically, a person who bounces from one bad situation to another. A person on whose heels disaster follows.
No directing me to a thesaurus--I have tried it.
I am looking for a one-word answer, but a two- or three-word phrase might work.
Words or phrases which reference mythology, proper names, or pop culture in any form (basically, highly "dated" terms, even if they are modern) will not work.
3 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoWhat are good classroom-type activities for sixth grade (11-12 year old) students?
Not homework-type assignments, please. I do have a curriculum to follow, but I want to know how to make things more interesting. I've written variations on games of Taboo and Trivial Pursuit, and I have a few crossword puzzles around. It's not a formal classroom setting (e.g. public school), so games and small-group activities are possible. All ideas gratefully considered. ;)
7 AnswersTeaching1 decade agoWhat's the plot of every novel ever written?
I remember a teacher from high school telling me that all novels follow the same basic plot. What do you think this plot is, in a few sentences or less?
Feel free to give examples of very different books that follow this basic plot. No one can know the plot of every novel, but we can make some generalizations based on what we've read and learned.
If you disagree and don't think all novels follow the same plot, tell me why and give counter-examples.
Note: a novel is a work of fiction. I know very well that reference books don't exactly have a plot. ;)
