Can a person be allergic to their own bodily fluids?
Hi, when I sweat or cry it BURNS where the fluids are, if I don't wipe them off RIGHT AWAY, I get red blotches that not only burn like fire, but itch badly as well and lasts for days... If I have an oil, such as a face or body oil it doesn't burn or itch... Is it even possible to be allergic to your own fluids? Thanks for your help!!! :0)

2 AnswersHobbies & Crafts9 years agoWas your stent painful and how long was it kept in?
Hi,
I have been battling kidney stones for months, 2 weeks ago they put a stent in for a week. The stent started to get painful but I was booked for a ureterscopy a week later so I felt I could handle it OK. Last week I had the ureterscopy and they put a new stent in, the Dr plans on leaving it in for about a month, it is a week in and it is getting painful. Can you tell me, was your stent painful? How long did you have it in and was there anything you could do to help ease the pain? Thank you for your help, I very much appreciate it!!! :0)
1 AnswerOther - Diseases9 years agoCan you get overwhelming chills and sweating from kidney stones?
Hi,
I have 2 kidney stones, one is quite small, 2mm, so could pass easily, but the other one is 12mm and too large to pass. The larger stone is sitting right above the opening to the ureter so it is blocking the smaller one. I don't know what they are going to do yet as I am waiting to hear from the urologist. This all started in October of 2011 and has been finally figured out last week with a CT scan. I have been in hospital twice and just managed to stay out a third time. I have been having symptoms of BURNING yet HORRIBLY COLD arms and sometimes upper back and shoulders and I am freezing cold, but sweating copious amounts and it only feels better if either I am in a very hot bath or I put on MANY layers... Right now I am in my bed and I have my heating pad on (mainly for my kidney pain) at medium, I have bra and underpants, long thick night dress, 2 thick robes, 1 with a hood (which is up), a thick long cardigan, a thick blanket, a scarf, a knit hat, thick socks and a pair of slipper boots... If I get up and move around or take any of these layers off I start to feel very cold yet sweat again... Any ideas what is up with my body? Sorry if this was confusing!!!! ;0)
10 AnswersDiabetes9 years agoHow do you make your skin not so saggy after losing 150lbs?
I have lost 100lbs and am working on the last 50. How do I make the skin on my upper arms (bingo wings on bingo wings) and my thighs especially not hang there? I don't want to go the surgery route as it isn't something that they will do on the NHS and I would have to go private and I can't afford to go private. I am thrilled that I have lost 100lbs, but boy do I HATE this saggy skin!!!! Thank you for your suggestions!!! :0)

2 AnswersDiet & Fitness10 years agowhen do you think dietitians in the UK will catch on that a low carb diet is a good diet for a diabetic?
I have been eating low carb since the beginning of October last year (the same time I was diagnosed with type 2). I did a lot of research and low carb eating made the most sense. I was very obese, but by eating low carb (usually about 50 to 100 grams a day) and exercising I have so far managed to lose 6 stone (84 pounds) and have brought my HbA1c down to 5.7. When I went to the dietitian last week she was very critical of my low carb eating. She said I am losing weight too quickly, not eating enough calories (I eat between 1200 and 1400 a day) and I am not eating enough carbs. I tried to explain to her that diabetics in America are finding it much better on their blood sugar levels to limit their carbs. I got a earfull about your body needing those carbs, etc... I agreed after much argument to have at least 100 carbs a day and 1500 calories... *Sigh* She asked me if I was prepared to eat the way I have been eating since October for the rest of my life, I told her that, yes, I was perfectly happy to as I don't feel like I am missing out on too much... She didn't aknowledge my answer at all... Probably because that wasn't the answer she was expecting!!!! So, do you think dietitians in the UK will ever get on board with the low carb diet for diabetics? Thanks for your reply!!!! :0)
18 AnswersDiabetes10 years agoDietitian said I need to eat more, but I need low carb and low fat snack ideas...?
I was eating about 900 to 1100 calories a day but she said I need at least 400 more calories... That is a lot!!! I am vegetarian so I don't eat meat. I just don't know what to eat that wont add too many carbs or too much fat. I try to only eat 100 carbs a day. I feel kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place... Can you please help me figure out some snacks I can add? Thank you very much for your help!!! *Smile*
I have also posted this in Diet & Fitness, but I have pretty much gotten disrespectful or unhelpful messages. :-(
3 AnswersDiabetes1 decade agoCan you get a headache from eating too many carbs?
I have been eating low carb for several months now and as it was Valentines Day my husband and I splurged and got pizza, cheese sticks and a cookie... I ate as many carbs in one meal as I usually eat in a day... Now I have a dreadful headache, could it be from the high carbs? I didn't have a hint of a headache before I ate or just after... Thank you for your help!!!! *Smile* I am a type 2, that is why I am asking in the diabetes section...
3 AnswersDiabetes1 decade agoPain where my bladder is and in my right mid back, what could be wrong?
I feel swollen and sore in my girly bits, it burns when I urinate, I feel crampy in my bladder area after emptying my bladder, I have been hot and sweaty but freezing cold at the same time, I have been going to the toilet more often and urinating less, the pain in my mid back is like someone is poking me hard and I have had difficulty falling and staying asleep because of the pain in my back, I have felt some nausea and not felt like eating much.
I will go to the Dr next week as my husband is away tomorrow and Friday and I didn't want to worry him with how I have been feeling the last few days. I guess I was just looking for some ideas of what it might be, if it sounds like I need to do something about it before I can at least make the appointment for Monday or try to go to the Dr's on Call on Saturday if you think I should.
Thank you for your help. *Smile*

2 AnswersDiabetes1 decade agoIf you count your carbs and you vomit do you still count those carbs?
I seem to have come down with a tummy bug, I am type 2 and I keep a very close eye on my carbs, I have been sick and I was just wondering if I should zero out my carbs that I had eaten. Thank you for your help! *Smile*
1 AnswerDiabetes1 decade agoHas anyone tried Hurraw raw lip balm?
I am looking for a good vegan lip balm that doesn't feel too waxy and it can NOT have stevia in it (I am one of the few that gets the bitter taste) and I like ones that are in the screw up tube, not a squishy tube... I used to use Everyday Minerals, Natural Lip Balm. I LOVED it but they don't make it any more... I thought I would try the Hurraw and was just wondering if anyone had tried it. If you have, can you please tell me the flavour(s) you have tried and what you thought of the taste and the product itself. Thank you very much in advance!!! *Smile*
2 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoDo they not have things labelled as suitable for vegetarians/vegans in the US?
In the UK if something is suitable for vegetarians (sometimes even says suitable for vegans) it is usually labelled as such, except the obvious things like fruits, nuts, grains and vegetables (although they do sometimes even mark them as suitable).
I think the labels make it much easier if you are going to buy yourself some processed food as a treat. If you don't know what to look for, that label helps you decide if its suitable (not that processed foods are really all that suitable to a healthy diet... *Sigh*) for a vegetarian to purchase!!!!!!
I am just wondering as I am planning to go see family in the US... So, do they label things as vegetarian/vegan or not really?
5 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoDo you think Ojon should warn of the hair-loss possibility of their products?
I purchased some Ojon restorative treatment as well as some shampoo and conditioner, daily treatment spray and shine serum about 3 1/2 years ago and used only the Ojon products. I LOVED how conditioned and in control my hair was, it was the BEST stuff I had EVER used on my hair!!!!! After a few months I started to notice I was loosing a LOT of hair... I didn't put the two together... I got my Mum to use it when we were visiting the US. While there my little brother made a comment about my hair-loss and how bald I was going... I was CRUSHED!!!!! I hadn't thought it was as bad as it was!!!! I still didn't associate the Ojon with the hair-loss... Then, about 3 months ago as a treat for a favour my sister-in-law did for us, I bought her a couple of Ojon products... About a month later she asked me if I had noticed after using the Ojon that a lot of hair fell out... I laughed, but kept thinking about it and that night I realized that my hair-loss started when I started using Ojon products!!!!! Not only that, but I had remembered that my Mum had lost a lot when she had used the restorative while we were sitting there talking... I had to agree with my SIL, Ojon was making me bald!!!!!!!!! I have found other women online who used the products and the same thing happened to them...
So for the question (sorry this was so long!!!), Don't you think Ojon should state that their products could cause hair-loss?
I have a whole bunch of Ojon stuff left too but I am leery about giving it to anyone else!!!! That stinks cuz its expensive stuff!!!!

3 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoHave you tried Primal Strips?
If you have tried them what did you think of them? I just tried the teriyaki seitian one. The first bite of it was gross, after that it wasn't too bad until I got to the end, then I wanted to vomit because it was gross again so I threw the rest away. Do I dare try the texas bbq one (I bought it with the teriyaki one)?
