I like movies and collect them in any form...VHS, DVD and digital media format. My most precious possessions are those few rare movies and TV series, which are only being released on VHS or none at all! http://www.twitter.com/brighouse1971

What brand of handmade shoes are these......no nametag visible! But quality made?

    Hi,

I just restored these pair of real velour leather  military / combat style high boots.

And they are in wonderful condition.

They are real soft and flexible leather, with leather insoles and leather walking soles.

They have now rubber sole protectors on the toe and heel.

The sole is in fact stitched to the upper .......Blake Stitch!

    http://ebay.us/GyA0VN?cmpnId=5338273189 more infos on here......

the leather is velour leather and rough but soft and kind of fuzzy ha ha...

I assume they are made in France, because the integrated leather insole has a barely readable label in french

“dessus et semelle Interieure cuir “

which basically means that this is an insole........

No stamp, no sticker or any otherimprint of the make.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    TP-Link Range Extender wifi malfunction?

Hello, I recent;y got this great little device to boost my wifi range..

    TP-WA865RE Range Extender

It was an easy setup and all worked out well, till yesterday it stopped receiving any wifi signal from my router.

My computer still recognizes the device and it is still working, but somehow the wifi signal indicator keeps blinking and then disappears.

Which means the computer cant connect to the wifi signal anymore!

I tried restarting and even resetting the device but nothing!

There is a little lock button on the side, which I might accidentally pushed, maybe thats why I cant receive any signal anymore???

I know its not the newest model anymore and I dont have a manual for this. Unfortunately there is no manual for this device either online anymore.

    What can I do?

Or do you have the manual in english or german?

  • Australian wildlife film maker series 1996?

Hi there, this question is bugging me for a long time.

In around 1996 I watched a great australian wild life series which was hosted by a famous film maker and environmentalist.

His name is somehow short and very catchy, and in that show he frequently included his two sons and they were mainly on the vast Great Barrier Reef, diving and discovering the underwater wild life.

It was a great show and the host had even won some awards and had a whole website and charity regarding the australian environment.

But now I cant recall his name or the name of the show. And was wondering if he is still around and if his sons are also into film making and nature documentary.

The older son was very keen at the time and even "directed" a few episodes from his Dads show. He was around 15 at the time!

    Anyone know this show??

I lived in Germany back then and it aired there on TV weekly!

  • Klepper folding canoe skin repair?

    Hello,

I am a huge fan and enthusiast of folding canoes and with my first paycheck from my first job yearsagoI bought myself a new Klepper Aerius I canoe.

Unfortunately that boat was subsequently stolen from me!

Anyway, I recently got myself a new canoe, which is not new and quite vintage from the 1950.

It was a great bargain and the skeleton is in excellent condition.

But after disassembling the canoe I noticed that the skin got hard in places and started to crack slightly.

It is still water tight and all the seams are top.

    But here my question!

I was wondering if I can soften the skin so I can make it foldable again and proper water tight.

I ve heard that careful fine sanding might do the trick and then re seal it with silkaflex!

My plan would be to sand it off and remove all the cracks and lose hypalon chips, then glue some long patches on the bottom and sides and seal it with silkaflex.

This is what I can do and what I checked out to purchase!

Now just to be sure will this procedure soften the skin again.

The skin is hard and cracked at some parts but not really going all the way through....yet!

  • Bedsits in or around Leeds, WY?

Hi, I used to live not far away from Leeds, West Yorkshire and I would like to move back ( after I completed my assignment here in Germany ).

Back then I lived in a bedsit apartment with shared bathroom, which was quite alright and interesting!

Now are there any websites that offer such bedsits ( not whole apartments ) in Leeds and the surrounding, even Bradford would be acceptable?

    Thanks

  • Slurred speech on an ADHD kid?

    Hi there,

I have a friend and a surrogate little brother who suffers from severe ADHD.

He is 16 of age and is basically the sweetest young man in the world, but he can also be quite a handful like most of the ADHD kids.

What I recently noticed on him that his speech slurred drastically, to an extend that I barely can make out what he was saying.

His speech is like a severe mumbling and he is cutting away the words, plus ( the usual ) his drastic change in topics.

A few month ago he was on Stratera 13mg but then his medication changed to a more young adult component by Medikinet

    https://www.medice.de/produkte/adhs-kinder-und-jug...

Basically his moodswings are less then on Stratera and he is more considerate about his environment and with interaction of friends and family....but then there is the slurred speech, the numbness in his extremities, his insomnia and his emotional breakdowns.

I suppose a lot of those "side effects" are because of his hyper activity and attention disorder.

    I am just worried!

And sometimes his mood swings will go so far that he considers to end his life, which so far was just a phase and I ( with his mother and sister ) could lift him up again.

He is a weakly little guy for his age! And the numbness and slurred speech worries me.

I hope this also will be a phase ( like all teenager, who are in phases ) and it will subside as soon as he get out of puberty.

  • Friendship between a 40 and a 14 y/o?

Since I moved to a new town and country I got into a fun friendship to a 14y/o boy with sometimes troublesome ADHD.

Is that weird that a 40y/o hangs out so often with a 14 y/o?

It's nothing sinister or sexual but it's great fun to hAng out with him ( do pranks, modeling ), laugh-out-loud, talk ( about anything even confidential stuff ), helping with his homework or chores and just being there and listening!

I don't have any secrets and even work close with his parents ( divorced ) to help him achieve a higher living standard for his future.

Even though I got the feeling that loads of people suspect a more sinister reason for my friendship to that 14y/o boy ( understandably, but still nerv wrecking ) it won't bother our friendship!

He is in fact a great kid with an amazing potential. Sometimes I wished I would be his real brother, as just his "adopted" one ( he somehow adopted me as a brother ) . And I must say I am quite fond of him, even though his ADHD makes it very hard!

  • ADHD related mood swings and aggression?

Hi I have a little fella who seriously suffers from ADHD and is in phases very hyper ( of course ) has strong mood swings and aggressive behavior with violent episodes.

He is only 14y/o and is taking STRATTERA ( Ritalin ) two times ( sometimes even three times ) a day.

He is a kind and gentle kid with a good heart but in recent days his violent episodes come more often, which hurt ( emotional ) the people close to him. And afterwards he regrets those episodes sincerely.

I am worried that he might do something to himself and that scares me!

I try to be with him at those times to distract him ( to get him down ) to comfort him, to just listen to him.

What else can I do to help him?

    Just feed him his pills?

  • Teaching my Little Brother?

Hi there so my question refers to my Little Brother brother!

First of all we are not related in any form and basically I ve no saying ( officially ) in his development / education!

So he is 14 y/ o but seems much younger and delicate. He has ADD and takes Ritalin twice a day, therefore he has some troubles concentrating and keeping him on one task at a time.

How can I gently get him to so his tasks, like homework or chores, without getting loud ( like his Dad )?

He has also some troubles with the time and how can I get him to do things at a certain time ( without being too late again ). Again without loud screaming and therefore "degrading" him.

Because I noticed when his Dad gets loud at him ( by any littlest thing ), he gets all quite, depressed and just sad ( sometimes even with tears ).

He is a good kid and I like him very much ( as a Little Brother of course ) and I really want to help him to get his young life straight!

In the past he was ( and sometimes still is ) quite rambunctious and got even in some mischievous troubles with the law!

I even "work" close together with is parents ( divorced ) and got some incredible success with his school work and his behavior!

He is a full time job of course but well worth it!

  • Flat share ( room rental )in Berlin, Germany! Any bad experience?

    Hi there,

I am now residing in a room in a shared house in Hohenzollernstrasse 22, 12307 Berlin and I wonder if anyone else lived there before?

Any bad experience with the landlady?

From what I experience, the house and room are very clean and nearly immaculate but the landlady ( in particular ) seems pretty nosy and snooping in my room and in my food in the kitchen.

I assume she probably is just looking for spoiled food ( as a health hazard ), while looking through the fridge in the kitchen.

And recently she moved my little tray of ( non refrigerated ) from the small kitchen into my room without an explanation or note.

Of course its a small kitchen with not much storage space ( but hundreds of plates and glasses ) to keep my stuff properly storaged.

Another little flaw is, that there no real cooking facilities, like stove or hot plates...just a microwave.

Its enough to make some stuff but after work I would really like something proper in my stomach, then just microwave meals or bread.

I am not complaining, it is a nice place in a quite neighborhood and it will be def only for a certain time.

Still i wonder if there more people out there who stayed here and had some "difficulties"?

  • US Immigration as a UK citizen?

Well I visited the US several times in various locations, mainly on the east coast and I was quite fond.

In 2009, on my last visit I noticed quite a few changes while re-visiting the area but still I was quite confident and enthusiastic to settling down someday ( Fort Lauderdale as one location ).

I ve tried a Green Card lottery with my german passport ( citizenship ) but it seems I wont be lucky at all.

Every year I apply for an employment visa to any potential employer in the Hotel and Gastronomy but with no answer on some occasions.

I have no family in the US and cant apply for asylum.

I am currently holding a UK passport but also have a german citizenship ( but without passport yet ).

I have completed my apprenticeship in the gastronomy with flying colors and have several years ( since 1996 ) work experience, not only in Germany itself but also in Ireland and England.

On my first visit to the US as a tourist / visitor in 2005 I accidentally overstayed my visa to three month due to the big snow storm in the New England area, which I wanted to visit in the first place.

But nothing happened and I could re-enter again in 2009 without any troubles.

I know the UK is exempt from entering the Green Card lottery, which would be the easiest but is there another option for a good-hearted fella, with no criminal convictions in either countries and a steady work history in the Hotel Industry.

  • What started the craze of shoes on the power lines?

I just saw the answer on Y/A about those shoes on the power lines, which are not just in the US but also in the UK.

And I was wondering if that craze started with the release of the movie with Robert DeNiro and Dustin Hoffman WAG THE DOG http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120885/

About a secret White House official, who tries to cover up some irregularities from the President, by fabricating a story about a fallen hero soldier and in remembrance he planted all those shoes across town. Because the fallen soldier's name was something like Shoemaker.

What came first? The movie or the shoes on the trees and powerlines?

  • Ipod 8GB touch questions?

Well I am sort of new to those Apple gadgets, but recently I got hold of that Ipod touch 8GB and I wonder if I can use this as a MP3 player only.

Or is this also possible to phone some one with it....use as a phone?

The last time I got hold of such a device was a few years back and that was one that only connects to the internet via WiFi and other than that works as a MP3 player, no phone function.

The battery is currently flat, so I havent got to the point of seeing it for myself. But the adapter is on it way to re charge it than.

I know from the apple website, it can be used as an MP3 player and video playback and recording, plus internet functionality ( per contract??? or wifi??? )....but I am still uncertain about it being a phone.

An Iphone being a phone among other things! But this is an Ipod!

Thanks to all the Apple gadget geeks out there!!
