1 AnswerWords & Wordplay9 years agoJobs in the New Orleans area/region?
I've been searching through Craigslist, indeed, and even subscribed to NOLA for an idea of job availability for that region. It seems the best opportunities, unfortunately, are having to deal directly with, and going through temp agencies for construction & industry jobs.
Question #1 Which of these agencies would you recommend (if any) that you've had success with?
Question #2 Are there any other sources for job postings (other than the above mentioned) that I've overlooked to assist me in my search?
I have 22 years in the painting/construction industry.
Thanks for reading, appreciate your time!
2 AnswersNew Orleans10 years agoI'm an American married to a Portuguese National.?
We were married in The United States 08/2010. Since then I've come to live with her in France. She has duel residency here in Europe. We want to return to the states (she also has an 8 year old son).
I'm having such a hard time navigating my way through the U.S. Immigrating web site trying to determine which forms to file, and in what order.
What we're going for is a change in status from tourist to legal resident so, do I have to file the I-130 still? or do we file the I-485 first, then apply for Social security cards, so the boy can start school and she can legally work in The United States. Filing the forms alone are costly, and I don't have thousands of dollars for an attorneys assistance.
I really need someone who's experienced in these matters (I'll even give you my email address) to help guide me through this maze. I'm hearing so many things, from so many different people, and Yes It's very frustrating :(
Step-by-step transparency, that's all I'm asking for :)

Would you give me your opinions on any of these Please. Good or bad, which are worth it, and what ones to avoid like the plague. They all have affordable prices, good locations, close to shopping, schools, the airport and public transportation. I just don't want to find myself slap in the middle of "crack whore central"..
We plan on moving the end of this year. Thanks for your input!
2 AnswersHouston10 years agoVisa application questions?
I'm an American, married to a Portuguese/French National. We married in the states, she's since returned to Europe and now wants to come to the states for a visit. She also has an 8 year old son who's father has nothing to do with the boy, or wants to for that fact.
Does she apply for a tourist visa for the both of them? (they already have passport for International travel)....................................... Or
Would she be better off applying for a fiancee visa?
4 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoAmerican/French couple wants to move to Houston, TX?
We want to do this beginning next year, and Yes, we were already married in the states. So It's not an immigration issue. I'm in the construction, painting industry 20+ years now. She speaks French, Portuguese/Spanish and English fluently, also has degrees in Marketing & International Tourism. We're trying to get additional ideas as to the "where" in Houston to settle that offers the most opportunity, jobs, housing, schools (8 year old). I've subscribed to chron.com for the local search information.. Need more suggestions, links, facebook groups and so forth to look in to.
Appreciate your time & assistance.
4 AnswersHouston1 decade agoLanguage Learning- english to french?
I'm an American currently living in France. I've been using youtube french lessons for beginners and It's been helpful but, I don't seem to be retaining as much as I'd like. This is a very difficult language to learn, with all the 1st, 2nd, 3rd persons- singular, plural and gender specific? I'm finding myself somewhat at a loss at times.
I'm not looking for random ideas or suggestions (I won't turn them down either), rather I'm interested in first hand accounts of individuals (you personally or close family, friend) that have used a system with better than average results.
Thank you
2 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoI'm an American in Europe.?
I married a French National in the states this year, we're currently in France. She was born in Portugal but, has lived in France the majority of her life as a legal resident. I'm having my birth certificate and our marriage license translated so she can legally declare me as her husband, and be placed in her "family book"....... 1st question: Is this the proper way to initiate, or start this process? (I'm somewhat at a loss trying to navigate the maze of ambiguity, which is the U.S. Embassy)
My second question is: I need to obtain a criminal background history on myself to secure my "permission to work papers". It has to be official, as in signed, stamped or official seal of state. In my case it would be the State of New Jersey.. How would I go about obtaining this document from the states (without having to physically return) while here in Europe?
ANY ideas, suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
5 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoI want to travel to Europe from The United States.?
I have a passport, and want to go as a "tourist" for the 3 months.. Is it mandatory for me to purchase a "round trip" plane ticket before I can leave the country (or enter another country)?
The countries I want to visit are Portugal and France.
