If you believe a certain group controls the media, which group is it?
People defend their beliefs different ways, and one way is to claim that an opposing interest controls the media. If you believe a certain group controls the media, I'd like to hear your opinion on what group controls the media.
I do not want to offer this as a forum for racism or any other prejudice, so please do not make an argument to support your opinion. In fact, one-word answers or short descriptions are enough, and feel free to leave supporting links or citations.
Thanks!
6 AnswersMedia & Journalism1 decade agoIs non-alcoholic beer OK for dogs?
Background: We have an older yellow lab who likes beer. We've tried to keep her away, but she's a fiend for beer spills. It's Super Bowl Sunday and we don't want her to feel left out, and no one else is going to drink this organic non-alcoholic "beer". Can we give it to the dog?

A recent Cato study shows federal income taxes on corporations are higher than other countries. Is there another side to this story? Do other countries typically rely on a larger diversity of corporate tax income?
2 AnswersUnited States1 decade agoCan you recommend works by Ezra Pound?
I'm going to work my way through the Cantos with a companion text over the next few months, but I'd also like some prose recommendations that involve his social/philosophical/political positions.
Thanks!
2 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade ago10pts- Where did Ezra Pound say...?
In the "The Pound Error" (06/09/08, The New Yorker), Louis Menand writes:
"Pound’s aspirations for literature were grand. He believed that bad writing destroyed civilizations and that good writing could save them..."
Is there a particular quote where Pound wrote or said that? Where/when is it? Thanks!
2 AnswersPoetry1 decade agoWhat books do you recommend...?
I'm heading to Thailand soon for several months, then I plan to travel more broadly. I'd like to read modern Western classics (Nabokov, Joyce, etc.) to improve my general literary competence. My favorite books are:
Nicomachean Ethics (Aristotle)
The Unbearable Lightness of Being (Milan Kundera)
Dream Novel (Arthur Schnitzler)
Thus Spoke Zarathustra (Nietzsche)
A Farewell to Arms (Hemingway)
Any suggestions? Thanks!
4 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoWhy does the Christian community prosecute homosexuality but ignore more Biblically significant sins?
For example, sloth and gluttony plague the nation and are among the seven deadly sins, while homosexuality is only rarely alluded to in the Bible.

..Please respond only if you have taken a course in existentialism or have read a significant body of existential work.
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs religious faith opposed to apodictic certainty, or should it be?
If the virtue of faith is the stretching of oneself toward a truth not completely revealed to us, thereby placing one's trust in god, then is it wrong or a bad faith practice to say, for example, that you "know" you will go to heaven, rather than saying you are firm or certain in your "faith" or "belief" that you will go?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy is faith considered a virtue?
Why is faith considered a virtue or valuable, according to Christianity and other religions? Some say there would be no value in believing in god if he gave conventional proof of himself, but why locate the value of religion in faith, rather than religious dedication or other virtues?
