  • What has happened to my horse?

I started schooling my horse 3-4 weeks ago. Two weeks ago she started working on the bit in walk and trot and in canter and was starting to come into an outline in walk, i had her leg yeilding perfectly. Since the previous saturday that has just gone she has all of a sudden been finding it really hard to come on the bit and she seems a little tense. I don't understand why she was so responsive and then all of a sudden she doesn't know how to do it, do you have any idea?

  • I can't understand what i saw?

I live in Cornwall, UK. I was out riding my horse one day a few weeks ago and i saw one of the most strangest things. It was one of those muggy humid days with lots of cumulus and cumulonimbus around. It was a very high up place so you could see all over and have a good view of the bay. In one area it looked like it was over some feilds or something there was this very low cloud with what looked like three funnels coming out of it, one of them looked like a long rope which was fairly low to the ground and the other two were like an upside down cone shape. But underneath the third one i saw all this stuff rising up towards it. I couldn't see any rotation i could only see it moving upwards. It was like very very dark smoke off a bonfire. I have been very interested in, seen on the internet and found out about tornadoes. I don't know whether what i saw was a tornado or a gustnado as this is the first time i have ever seen anything like this in my life. It was in one place for quite some time then just dissipetated, so i went on riding thinking oh well what ever it was it's gone now, when i turned and looked a couple of seconds it was at it again. I stopped and looked closer, when i looked more carefully i could make out it was moving along the ground.

Might be quite a crazy question because i'm guessing it was prob a twister but in Cornwall...... really.....nah. There is quite a few tornado sightnings in Cornwall though. Secondly there was no wind at all, everything was still, that is what's confusing me. I have seen many videos on youtube of storm chasers and tornadoes and even small minor tornadoes there is a very strong wind. That is why on one hand i am not sure whether what i saw was an actual tornado because it was very calm in the way of wind but the twister or whatever it was was quite a way away.

  • Why do dogs chase Cats?

Why exactly do dogs chase cats? Is it instinct? Are dogs and cats enemies? When i say cat to my dog he pricks his ears up and runs to the door, why are some dogs so obsessed with chasing cats? What do you think a dog that chases cats would do if it got up really close to a cat? Because some dogs and cats are used to each other arn't they.

  • I don't know what's wrong with this horse and her saddle?

My sister has a 14.2 or 14.3hh dark bay Cob. She is not chunky, fairly narrow, no fat, has feathers and high withers. You know when you fit a saddle you should be able to fit three fingers between the withers and the pommel, well i can fit 4 fingers between. I rode her yesterday and the day before and her saddle slips back and to the side, and is quite wide you can fit the flat of your hand between the sweat flaps and her sides. Also my sister uses a girth thats elasticated on one side so one side feels a bit looser sometimes where the other feels fine.

She is quite an unusual horse to ride too. She has been limping a lot lately my sister says she has had a sprained leg. She hasn't even got a vet out to check it. The horse hasn't been eating like she always used to. Her trot and canter is very jarry and hurts my back sometimes, she also has raised bumps underneath the pressure points of the saddle.

My sister says she knows a lot about animals and convinces us that the horse has a sprained leg but doesn't get the vet out to look anyway. The other thing is that it looks like someones been trying to get her on the bit, not back rounded just her neck. But Hattie has a really straight stiff neck that doesn't look very flexible anyway, when you gently pull the reins she bends the very tip of her neck so her neck is straight but the end of it goes down a bit. When you used to do this she would keep her neck straight and lift it up resisting.

Should you get a horse that has a neck like this on the bit?

I'm guessing the horse needs another saddle but my sister just seems to ignore the fact that she does.

My horse has one of those saddles that you can alter the width, i only noticed a week ago that her saddle needs changing too because she has white hairs and a very minor rub and i noticed it a week ago. I went away for a week and came back my sister rode my horse and she said nothing about white hairs and rubs so she obviously doesn't know what it means.

I'm sorting my horse out as soon as i can find a gullet bar, do any of you guys know where to buy one?

What should i do about my sisters horse because she's doing nothing about it? she is older than me by the way.

  • Is this right or not?

When i do rising trot on my horse i feel like instead of any part of my body to rise i automatically rise with the bounce and rythem of the horse, in otherwords i use the horses stride to rise. Is this right?

  • Is it my saddle or what?

Over the past few weeks i have noticed white hair growing where the panels of the saddle sit and the pressure points and there is a rub on one part. I have been riding my horse bareback quite a lot but she has had her saddle on a lot too though my sister rides her with her saddle sometimes. I have only had her since roughly around april and may, when i went to see her before i bought her she had no white hair or rubs even though the saddle she had then is the same one now, she has lost a lot of weight so do you thing it could be to do with that? I don't have a clue as to why rubs are coming from nowhere otherwise.

  • What would happen if.....?

What would happen if a tornado sucked up lava?

    4 AnswersWeather9 years ago
  • Is there any possible way of making lava?

Okay, this might sound a stupid question but i don't suppose there is any way to make lava?

I am in UK so there probably won't be any remains of volcanic rock, or will there?

I know it would be dangerous if someone did do this but i am just wondering because i find it interesting.

    Thankyou

  • Why is this happening?

This morning i woke up and when i looked on my bedside table there were all these tiny white flea like insects crawling all over my earphone a pot and my mirror and probably my bedside table but i couldn't see them on the table because it is a lighter colour. I'm not sure whether it has something to do with the fact that my dog likes to sleep on my bedroom floor at night?

  • Why does my dog groan?

Our dog is sometimes quite hesitant in lying down and seems to really dislike it, when he does lie down he lies down really slowly and tense and very gently touches the floor while giving a groan. What do you think this could be? I reckon he is in pain.

  • What hat should i wear?

I am going to hopefully get a full western set of tack for my horse. I live in England UK but it's just plain hacking out/trail riding, it's gonna be real western-jeans, western boots, blouse/t-shirt. The thing i am stuck on is hats, i mean it's not complete without a stetson, my horse i perfectly safe not the hyper forever spooking sort, a laid back fat Cob i do ride on country roads but mainly tracks, i'm not the novice begginer. Been riding horses for 10 years from Thoroughbreds to warmbloods to Cobs. I know there is a low risk in falling of my horse because of how she is and the area in which we ride but i don't know whether to be complete with a stetson or just wear my boring helmet. What do you think? I need some help deciding.

  • help on western tack please?

I would like to get my horse a set of western tack. I have never had anything to do with western tack or riding only English. My horse is a 15.1hh very chunky, fat but loosing weight Cob. What type of western saddle should i get? How do you fit them? How do you put them on? What is the western version of an eggbutt snaffle. I am very new to it although i know how to ride western.

  • What is the matter with my sisters guinea pigs?

My sisters guinea pig accidently had her second lot of babies, 3. A few days ago one of them had something wrong with it's head, i showed my sister who is older than me and knows a lot more than me about some animals, she said it's head is broken and brain is popping out, so we had it put down thank goodness. Earlier to day i went to check the other two and again one if the other baby guinea pigs eyes were popping out. Why is this happening it's scary? Thats two babies we have lost through their brain and eyeball popping out, shall we get the other put to sleep before anything else happens to it?

  • What causes this horse to feel like this?

My sisters horse is really strange to ride. She is a 14.3hh Cob Irish i think and she has feathers. When i ride her trot, canter and gallop is really really jolty. It's like running barefoot on rocks if you see what i mean, there's no suspension. My back is quite sore and feels very jard when i get off her sometimes, my sister has had problems with her back too. Is it just the horse, the saddle or what?

  • What do you think of these saddles?

    http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=wintec+250+all+pu...

I find them really uncomfy. Every horse i have ridden that has had one of these saddles has been bouncy. My sisters horse has one of these saddles, i have ridden her bareback and with the saddle and she feels bouncier with and smoother without. My horse has a totally different brand all together and she feels the same smoothness with and without the saddle. What do you think of these?
