Eccentric is the best word to describe me. I'm emotional, but sweet. Not to mention a proud momma!

  • Is it a bad idea to get my two and half year old daughter a gift for her on sister's first birthday?

I don't know how this is done. I'm afraid that my oldest daughter is going to be a bit jealous or confused about her little sister's birthday gifts. The youngest is not until next month. I'm just wondering if it's wrong to get my two and half year old a present so she doesn't feel left out. My oldest still thinks that birthday parties are for her. Actually, she's gotten better after going to a couple of friends. I know how she will be at home when we decorate and have the cake. Does anyone have any advice or ideas on how to handle this potential situation? Anything will be appreciated! Thanks!!

  • How can I get my two year old interested in potty training again?

My two and half year old daughter is completely refusing to try an potty training. About a month and half ago, she was doing great. Then she got a UTI. I don't know if I did the wrong thing, I stopped for a few days so she wouldn't associate the pain the UTI caused with peeing in the toilet. After that, no success. We've tried the whole giving M&Ms as a reward for going potty. A couple of weeks ago, I let her pick out some Dora panties. Hoping that would encourage her to try it again. Nothing. She refuses to wear panties or have any kind of rewards. All she wants is to wear a diaper. She tells me when she went pee or poop. Quite a few times, she tells me when she's going to do it. At these times, I've ran her to the bathroom to set her on the toilet. She throws a screaming fit! I've tried books, toys, and other things out of desperation! I do not spank her or yell at her! I've thought about making her wear panties around the house, but she cries and yells and flops around wanting a diaper on! I am completely at a loss! I don't want to use any negative reinforcement. Like making her wear the panties. She'll be three in a few months. Family and friends are asking questions and wondering if she's potty trained yet! I want to scream at them and say, "It's going to take a miracle!". I know I'm not the only one going or gone through this, but I feel so alone, frustrated, and confused! I'm starting to feel like I'm a bad mother!! Help! Any advice!

  • What is the best choice I should about my old car?

I have a '98 Dodge Intrepid that has blown a head gasket. We can either pay the $1000 to $1500 to fix it or buy a good used car. Other than the head gasket the car is very dependable. My husband and I have had no car payments in almost eight years. Though, the thought of a good used car sounds so nice. However, we could pay the cost to fix the car and wait another couple of years to buy a new one and avoid car payments. Putting that money to other things. Having a larger car sounds nice too.

  • Which is better to start off with?

My 2 and half year old is definitely ready for a "big girl bed". I've read that skipping the toddler bed and going straight to a regular twin bed is a better idea. Then there are others who disagree. Of coarse, there will a side rail that goes up on the twin bed. If that's the way I choose to go. I am just so confused. I want to make the right decision. What to do? Any advice would be great. Thanks!

  • I need some good advice about bibs?

My nine month old has decided that she REALLY doesn't like to wear her bibs. She takes the velcro bibs off real easy. The bibs with the snaps work well, but she yanks on them really hard. She then ends up causing a rash and red marks on the back of her neck. Then food, formula, and drool get into the little crease around her neck. I'm at a loss for what to do. Any advice would be great! Thank you!

  • Does cornstarch really get rid of black ants?

I was told that to use cornstarch to get rid of black ants. The person told me that they can't digest it. So, they die. Is this true?

  • What is a natural abrasive cleaner that can also disinfect bathroom tiles?

I have two young children that I don't want to expose to bleach or any strong chemicals. I'm looking for a natural cleaning agent(s) for my bathroom. Any other natural cleaners for my household would be great.

  • Is there really another Predator movie coming out this year?

I don't want to get too excited here. I've been reading rumors on the internet about this movie by Robert Rodriguez. If it's true, it sounds pretty good. I have been severely disappointed by the AVP movies.

  • Can someone give me good advice about a 2 year old sharing a room with a 6 month old?

I have two beautiful little girls. At the moment, my 6 month old is staying in mine and my husband's room. Has much as we love, we would like to have out room back. I have a couple of big concerns. What if my oldest climbs in with her sister's crib. The oldest is still in hers. She does know how to climb out of it. Only when the side panel is half down. What if they keep each other awake. Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks!

  • Why has my seventeen month old daughter decided that "I'm the only person who does everything right"?

My daughter has always been fiercely independent. Something that I am very proud of her for. She use to stay with members of my family and her daddy without a fuss. Now, she will through a screaming, bloodcurdling fit.

I am a stay at home mom who is expecting another little girl in two months. I've been telling her she will be a big sister and that little sister is in momma's belly. I know that she doesn't really understand right now.

I'm just a bit confused as to why she suddenly wanted no one but me. I don't mind it at all. I'm just wondering if it's normal or if I'm not meeting something she needs. I'm always playing with her and giving her hugs and kisses. I applaud her. I'm just wondering if this kind of behavior is normal. Thanks...

  • What can I do to help deter my 17 month old's throwing habits?

My little girl likes to throw her food. Which I know is what babies do. However, hers involves sippy cups and utensils. I happened to be on the receiving end of a fork the other day. Thankfully, I dodged in time. It was a fork designed specifically for toddlers. She doesn't do this out of anger or frustration. She finds it funny. I, of coarse, don't. I've tried everything from firmly saying No! and spats on the hand. Which I am not very comfortable doing. I'm just desperate because it's getting to where we can't take her out to eat. Any suggestions will be welcome. Thanks!
