3 AnswersRodents7 years agois this a good idea? would it make a difference?
I've been contemplating starting a FB group called "STOP BREEDING START CARING" that would basically talk about the overpopulation of horses and try to convience people to stop breeding so much. I've bared witness to many a cruelty and neglect cases and I feel helpless that I can't do more. I don't have land or money to make a rescue or anything but Iwant to try to convince people-even big name breeders-to hold off breeding for 4-5 years and let the industry re-coup. Humane societies and rescues are having to literally give away horses becausd there's no room! They aren't even going out to check ppls places like they used to! It sickens me. We need to finish our drinks before re-filling our cups so to speak. Would something like that make a difference? I know its probably a stupid question but wanted feedback anyway. Thanks.
4 AnswersHorses8 years agohow to measure a horses whithers for a barrel saddle?
My horse is in need of a new saddle, due to his age (20) he is showing more bone (at least that's what I've been told its called) and my saddle that used to fit fine is now rubbing his spine at the cantle (or whatever the part under thw horn is called) he is still 100% sound and ridable at his age but I just want to make sure he's comfy. I've been told to bring him to my local saddle shop and they'll just let me throw saddles on him till one fits bit I really don't have time for that. What is the correct way to measure him? Thanks in advance!

Do you absolutely have to train under someone? How do you get started? Thanks in advance for any help.
3 AnswersHorses8 years agohow to get a horse ready for a halter class?
I have a gielding that I use for barrels, poles, riening, cutting, and roping and I want to start showing him in halter also. How do I train him to stand spuare and correct? He always either puts his head down to low or up to high and won't stand square and still. Also, his mane is very long, do I have to cut it short for halter class? Or can I fix it up some way to get around having to cut it? Thanks in advance!
2 AnswersHorses8 years agoOpinion poll: slaughter houses; yes or no?
I have to a research paper for one of my college classes concerning a controversial opinion so I decided on this. Do you think the slaughterhouses should be re-opened? Or should they stay shut down? In my opinion it would solve the unwanted horse problem IF it is done correctly and humanely. It would also provide jobs. Please be serious and mature with your answers as this is for a project. Please explain your reasoning for your opinion.
12 AnswersHorses8 years agoHow to make a resume for a TB stud farm?
I have recently come across the opportunity to work for a local stud farm here in louisiana. I have 7 years experience with horses including unstarted stud colts and fillys as well as older problem horses. I do not know how to properly make a resume, should I include my current salary at my current job as well as a desired pay rate? What sort of layout should I use when typing the resume? What do owners look for in a worker of this sort? Any advice and help is appreciated. Thanks in advance! ^.^

2 AnswersMathematics8 years agoNew beagle owner. advice please.?
Ok so I just picked up mine and my husbands new beagle puppy Daisy. Shes 7months and she's really sweet. On the ride home she just sat there quietly but when we got home she just had so much energy. Sniffing everything and pulling me everywhere. She needed a bath so I gave her one and put her in the utility room with food and water so I could bath my other dog and then take them both out. Well when I checked on her there was poo everywhere, she had gone and then smeared it everywhere with her hyperness. Needless to say I was peeved. I put her in the garage and cleaned up the mess and when I stoped seeing red I went and took her for a walk in the yard twice-playing fetch with her in the garage between walks-and made sure she went to tge bathroom. Well I was letting her get used to the house and she suddenly ran into the room I was in and howled at me twice. I ddidn't pay any mind thinking she was playing, well she peed in the house not 5 seconds after howling. -.-' I know now that's her "let me out" signal. Shes back in the garage for safekeeping as it is raining and I don't want anymore messes in the house. I can easily keep an eye on her however as the garage and living room are right next to each other. Are all beagles this hyper? What are some ways we can calm her down and train her effectively? Does walking once a day benefit them? Thanks in advance! ^.^

My husband and I have decided we want to start eating better and work out. But there's one problem: WE LOVE FOOD lol. We love steak, chicken, seafood, pasta, pork, and many more yummy things. Now, I've never been the best cook and don't really enjoy cooking. He understands this and is happy with what I do make but I want to start getting better. If you have any recipies you don't mind sharing it would be greatly appreciated ^.^ and please include a clear list of ingredients if you'd be so kind.

Mathematics8 years agoHow to tell if a horse has arthritis?
My gielding is 20 yrs old now, I have a vet out once to twice a year for routine shots and all and he always makes me walk/trot/canter him on a line and he watches him intently. All he's ever said afterwards is "he's all good, fit and healthy" and I didn't think about it untill I read someones question a few days ago, is it posible for a horse to NOT get arthrits?? He's always been on 24/7 turnout, never in a stall and is kept moving either by riding or lounging. He never shows signs of pain in his movement and is quite spunky for his age. So, is it posible for a horse to not get arthritis?
5 AnswersHorses8 years agoLounging on a line vs round pen?
I'm still saving up for the actuall round pen I want but untill then I'm lounging my horse every morning b4 work on a line for about 30-45min. He is well behaved and good mannered don't get me wrong, he stops, turns and does everything on command. The only thing is this: he won't speed up past a trot and he's dragging himself a bit, now in a pen I can get him to canter like I want but on a line he's just so lazy. I also can't keep a "uniform" circle. He doesn't pull me around or anything like that but we're just all over that little corner of the field, any suggestions? :/

3 AnswersHorses8 years agoQuote from seabuiscut, do you agree?
I was watching the movie for the first time and when the trainer was asked why he saved the white stallion he said "cause I can...you don't throw a whole life away just because he's banged up a little" it made me think, where did that mentality go? Does anyone still think this? I know I do.
