  • My rights as a live-in landlord v. tenant who has criminals in my house?

I'm a NJ resident who rents out an apartment in my house. This fact is important because the law is more in my favor since I live there. We also share an entrance into the house so I've always been very choosey about who I rent to. I've had a few issues with my tenant over the 3 years she's been there but nothing worth evicting her for until recently. In Nov. she had a strange man over the house who the following week was arrested for attempted murder on his girlfriend (and she was dating this man). I told her I was concerned about the type of people she has over and would appreciate that she not bring strange men home anymore. Then she started having her "cousin" over for several nights at a time almost to the point that he's living in my house part time since Dec. To say this man looks scary is an understatement. And they are both in a drunken stupor starting at about 10am everyday. I just found out she's lied to me about who this person really is. Turns out they are now engaged and he's now staying with her but he's not on the lease. She leaves him at the house when she's not home and I pay all the utilities in the house. She also told me his name and where he's from and after some investigation, I've realized she's lying about who he really is AGAIN. This concerns me that he may also have a criminal record. Why else would she keep lying about who he is?! I feel that I'm entitled to know who's living in my house, just as I did a background check on her before she moved in. So I want to know what my rights are as a live-in landlord. I realize I can't tell her who she can have over, but I no longer feel safe in my own house. Plus, he's now living there and not on the lease AND using additional utilities. Please help!

  • My 2004 Mazda RX-8 spark plug issues?

I"ve heard due to the rotary engine that it's easy to ruin the spark plugs in the 2004 Mazda RX-8. I've had to have my car towed at least 4 times and new plugs put in simply because I moved my car 10 feet and didn't burn off the fuel and the car wouldn't start up again. It first happened when my car was 3 months old. Has anyone else heard of anything like this? Is there any solution? I feel like Mazda won't really fix the problem because it's an easy $400 for them every time it happens.

  • What can I do about my neighbor opening my mail?

I just located a lost package of much needed medication for my dog on my neighbor's front porch OPENED and the box was delivered 6 days ago. I spoke with the mail carrier and he can't recall if he delievered it to the right house or not so I don't know if they stole it from my porch. However, they opened it and left it on their porch rather than giving it to me. The P.O. did not offer any advice.

  • Good blog site?

I've got a lot going on in my life right now and it's difficult to keep all my family and friends apprised of what's happening. So I was wondering if there's a good blog site where they could check in with what I'm doing without having to sign up for something and also I'm able to make it private or password protected. I only want invited people to read it. Any suggestions?

  • Is Iverhart Plus a good medication?

My vet won't fulfill a prescription for the generic heartworm medications, Iverhart Plus because they say it makes dogs sick. My dogs have been on it for over a year with no issues (presribed by another vet). My new vet wants me to buy the much more expensive Heartguard from them; I assume so they receive the profit. I think this is bunk! Does anyone know of any issues with Iverhart?

  • Have you ever heard of phentermine?

Is this what they call phen-fen? My doctor prescribed it to me. It’s an appetite suppressant and I feel like he wasn’t listening to me when I talked to him about my weight. I told him that I didn’t over eat. I keep an on line food journal of what I eat and it’s usually 1000-1200 calories a day. Even if I’m underestimating my intake, that’s FAR from over eating, you know? I guess I’m now worried about taking an appetite suppressant and slowing my metabolism down. Or does this drug not allow your metabolism to slow down when cutting back on food? I’m going to see if I can find something on line, but I feel like what I need is to eat the way I do (lots of veggies!), exercise (which I’m doing) and use a prescription that helps burn fat, not suppress my appetite.

Have you ever taken it? What were your results?

  • What does PETA think?

will happen to all the farm animals that are no longer needed for food or other products? Will Earth be over run with animals because we won't eat them? Will we then have to kill them anyway because they will be eating the same grains and vegetation as us? Will it become competition? Has PETA thought about the whole picture? The future?

I'm all for animal rights and against animal cruelty. But it seems to me that there is a "circle of life" (I don't mean to sound cheesy in my Lion King quote) I believe the animals used for consumption SHOULD be treated well, but I'm not going to become vegetarian because of it. And now PETA wants TOTAL liberation of all animals? WHY? My dogs live better than most people. I think they live happy lives with my family than they would "liberated" in the streets to fight other animals for food and survival.

What do you think? Am I wrong? Or is PETA going too far? Does anyone know if PETA has stated what the future holds?

  • Do you own a hybrid car?

I'm interested in trading in my Mazda RX-8 to save some money on gas. What exactly do hybrids run on? Are they practical? Do they save you money in the long run or are there some unforseen expenses, say with parts and repairs, that would eat up those "savings"? What's a good model and why?

  • Where's the Sharpton/Jackson team now???

    Watch this video:

    http://www.break.com/index/double_standard.html

This guy says whites should be ELIMINATED! So why aren't Sharpton or Jackson coming to the white man's aid? I assume it's because they don't stand for what's right, but rather are very one sided and of course, racist.

  • Don Imus' racial remark?

I wanted to know what you think about Don Imus' racial remark about the Rutgers women's basketball team. He called the team, mostly made of black women, "nappy headed ho's" on his radio broadcast, which is picked up by about 70 different stations nationally.

Rev. Al Sharpton is asking for Imus to be fired even though Imus publically apologized. Jesse Jackson is staging a protest in Chicago.

My question is this: Whether you agree with his comments or not, should Don Imus be protected by the first ammendment and be able to keep his job under the pretense of "freedom of speech"? Or do you feel that people in the media need to be more careful of the things they say.

Again, this has NOTHING to do with whether you agree or disagree with his comments, but rather the principle of the matter and our Constitution.
