  • I cannot remember the name of an older (late 80's, early 90's maybe) children's book..?

It was a story about the creation of colors in a kingdom. It was a little gnome or elf or some small character who began mixing colors and the painted the kingdom. It might have gone something like ..."Everything was gray and what wasn't gray was blue..." or something like that...I think it started out black and white and then finished in color.

It was one of the only books my father ever read to me as a child. He passed away earlier this year and I wanted to get a copy to read to my own children. I remember getting it from the library so I know it's not tossed in an old box in storage somewhere.

If anyone knows which book this is, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you to everyone who helps out : )

  • I want to use an old HDD for extra space in my new Mini PC, can anyone tell me how?

I have a new Mini PC with the option of expanding the storage using either a Micro SD card up to 128GB, a USB stick or a USB hard disk or a 2.5 inch SSD/HDD.

I wanted to use the 2.5 inch SSD/HDD from my old laptop instead of buying brand new storage. Is there anyway to use the old HDD and just remove the old OS (Window7) and keep the photos and documents and not have them be disturbed, broken or erased?

  • My speakers just stopped working...?

I have a CPU plugged into a 19inch flat screen TV/Monitor. I plugged my microphone into the combined audio/microphone 3.5mm jack. The computer recognized it instantly, but then I wasn't getting any sound. So I unplugged the microphone and I still have no sound, my computer keeps telling me to plug in an audio device. I don't understand how I was getting sound before I plugged in the microphone and now my computer says it will not work unless it has speakers. I've never had speakers plugged in, I was using the speakers that are built into the TV/Monitor. Why isn't it automatically switching back to the monitor speakers?

  • Converting old HDDs into an external drives...?

I recently purchased a new computer, but I have a couple of HDDs lying around from old laptops. They are still in good shape; I purchased hubs for them so I could turn them into external HDDs. However, there are still all of the old files from the pervious operating system(s) such as Windows, boot, bootmgr, Program files, System Value Information, etc and no matter what I do (I've even tried shredding them via McAfee shredder), it says that I need permission to do anything with them. I've even changed the HDD to 'full control' access and it still tells me that I need 'administrator permission' or something like that.

These files are taking up a large chunk of space and I just want to get rid of them, and only keep all of the games that I already have installed on the HDD.

I was wondering, does anyone know how to do that? Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

  • How would this work?

If a woman goes to an IVF clinic to have her own egg fertilized with sperm she chose from a donor pool and then implanted; and during the process there was a mix up in the lab and another couple's fertilized egg was also implanted into this woman along with her own egg (or even if her own egg does not take) does she have the right to keep the child she carried and gave birth to?

Or what if the couple is feuding with one another over frozen fertilized eggs where one party wants the child, but the other does not (they are getting divorced and one part does not want to be responsible for the financial obligation of the child); would/could the woman and the one party that does want the child share custody?

  • Can someone please explain Hulu and Netflix subscriptions?

If you get a subscription to either or both of these services, do you need a subscription for each device you wish to view the service(s) on or is it an account based situation where you sign into the one account on each device to view the content?

  • What do you think of people who use their child/children as pawns?

Fictional scenario of what very well might happen in real life: A couple (no longer officially a couple) has a child that neither the mother or the father care for; as in both want to shove the responsibility (financial, care, etc...) off on the other parent, who in turn pushes the child (and the financial, care, etc.) off onto relatives.

However, at times of convenience (or just plain want) they each want the child because who ever has that child is on a power trip. Each of the child's relatives have offered on various occasions to take custody of the child. One parent will agree, while the other objects and then vice versa, the disagreeing parent will then agree, while the agreeing parent will then object, and then the child will spend several weeks out of the care of the relatives who have been caring for the child since birth to "teach them a lesson" for having the audacity to suggest that 'the parents' are not up to the task of being parents because they offer to take custody of the child. Until the child is given back to one of the relatives because both parents are tired of being parents, but each want to maintain the right of being the legal guardian of that child, all the while barely providing financial, care, necessary products etc. to the child...

I personally find this disgusting...your thoughts?

  • Is this also considered some form of assault...?

If Person A knows that they have some type of disease/infection (such as HIV, Hep C, Herpes, etc.) and they infect Person B through a deliberate act, such as being careless with bodily fluids/blood and allowing others to come in contact with it, regardless of whether or not Person B has knowledge of this information; is this also considered a form of assault?

Doesn't it fall squarely on the shoulders of Person A to be responsible(cautious) for(of) their disease/infection?

  • Studying Psychology…?

On the surface the idea of psychology and mathematics correlating to one another seems odd and out of place; considering the fact that mathematics deals with numbers and psychology generally deals with the study of the mind. However, I am aware that mathematics is general requirement for many fields.

    So my main questions are:

Is mathematics required for a degree in psychology?

    If so…

What types of mathematics class(es) would be required?

Would the class(es) just be required to earn the degree, or does mathematics play a strong role in the day to day activities of the field?

Thank you to those who take the time to actually answer the questions and not leave some silly one or two word comments; I appreciate it.

  • Is this the mark of a medical/psychological illness or personal quirk?

I have been doing some research on trying to find out if there is a name or a disorder or a mental/medical/psychological condition for someone who CAN focus, participate and complete tasks without impediment, restriction or limitation, but is an extremely hyperactive individual or has a hyperactive personality with a tendency to be the quote unquote "class clown" or "court jester".

However, I have come up pretty much empty with only multiple references to either ADD or ADHD. Both of which majorly focus on a person s INABILITY to focus on or complete tasks. I have also come across Hyperfocus, but then that leaves out the "jester" part of the equation; as people like that tend to block out everything else..

I was thinking, perhaps, something in the behavioral category, but I cannot seem to find anything that fits the bill.

Or, if this is not just a quirk, plain and simple, could it be a combination of different disorders where an individual can have the hyperactivity of one, but the super focus of another? Is it possible for things to overlap in that manner where only certain characteristics will be either noticeable or actually appear?

Thank you to whomever has an idea.

  • Could this really cause computer problems? Could a reinstallation or replacement potentially fix...?

Could a loose and/or faulty RAM card cause a computer screen to blank or "black" out, or develop an over abundance of colorful and/or pinstripe white wavy/bouncy horizontal and/or vertical lines (leaving no access to onscreen start button or on screen icons or control panel)?

Could a reinstallation or replacement of RAM cards potentially fix this issue in combination with a hard reset?

  • What is the difference between an AC/DC power supply?

    If an electronic item says

    Power Source: DC---12V, 3A

    Power Consumption: Max. 36W

Power source of supplied AC/DC adapter: AC 100-240V-, 50/60Hz, 1.5A

Output of supplied AC/DC adaptor DC ===12V, 3A

Does this mean if you need a replacement adaptor you need to find one that has both the AC and DC specs or if the adaptor matches the DC settings exactly it will work without incident?

Because I am not certain and I need a power cord for my 19 inch (48.26 cm) TV; it did not come with one. Many of the adaptors I have seen that either match or almost match the specs exactly look more like chargers for laptops instead of power cords (power bricks). And I am not sure if they can double as a wall plug or if they are only chargers. I don't want to either fry my TV or start a fire by plugging in the wrong type of power cord.

Thank you to anyone who can help : )

  • Recommended Replacement Power Supply (AC\DC) 12V, 3A Wall Plug for 19 inch TV?

My "Craig 19 inch HD LCD TV" (Model # CLC504) was purchased on clearance from a store that was going out of business. Upon getting it home and opening it I realized that the TV did not come with the AC/DC power brick.

The store DID NOT mention this -- had I known I would NOT have bought the TV--, they DID NOT supply a generic power brick, nor would they take it back as "all sales were final".

So now I am both stuck with the TV and perusing Amazon for a power brick, that I don't know which one to purchase. I do not want to either fry the TV or start a fire by getting the wrong type of charger.

Many say they are just plain "chargers" or replacements for "portable DVD players", are only 5V, or are 12V, but say 6A and not 3A.

Can anyone, please, make a recommendation?

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help.

  • I would like to update my graphics card, any suggestions?

I have a slightly older model laptop (HP Pavilion G6-1A19WM, currently running a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 Graphics Card), that works well and I am not ready to send it to the 'discard' pile just yet.

I have done HDD replacements/updates, screen replacements, key and keyboard replacements, max RAM upgrade and I've even replaced the fan. I am not afraid of taking my laptop apart and putting it back together.

However, I have never done a graphics card replacement/upgrade ( but I am willing to give it a shot) and I don't know exactly which kind to choose, there are so many on the market.

This laptop will now be designated for moderate gaming, nothing intense mostly Hidden Object and Nancy Drew type games-- slower pace, easy going.

I am well away that computer parts are not inexpensive by any means, but I am not looking to spend a lot on this card; max budget set aside for this is $125. Any recommendations on which one to choose would greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

  • If Tom Hanks character in "Castaway" had been female, how would [s]he have dealt with the monthly menstrual cycle?

Is there an actual wilderness technique for that? Because I also do not recall Gilligan's Island-- which also featured a co-ed group of castaways-- ever once broaching the subject..
