I'm pro-peace, pro-environmental protection, pro-reproductive choice, pro-equality, and anti-stupidity. That sums me up in a nutshell.

  • Why would a kind and loving god arrange to have his own son executed on trumped-up charges?

Why would a kind and loving god wipe out all of humanity in a flood? Or kill a guy for practicing birth control? Or turn a woman into salt for daring to take one last look at her home?

  • Will things ever change? *trigger warning*?

I am a very strong ally to the LGBT community. In high school, I founded my school's Gay-Straight Alliance, and in college, I have been active with a gay rights activist group. I do this because I want things to change for my LGBT friends and family. I want gay hate to end, and I want legal equality for all. Today, I received word that my younger brother, a senior in high school who is gay but not entirely out of the closet, is in the hospital, having had the **** beaten out of him by a couple of thugs from his high school who yelled such things as "f****t", "Homo", and "queer" as they hit him and kicked him. This happened right next to the high school where I had founded the GSA. Now, I'm starting to wonder if things will ever really change. I'm losing hope here.

  • Looking for a clever title for my senior thesis?

    Hi everyone,

I'm a history major at a university in the United States, and I'm writing my senior thesis. The topic is upper-class urban colonial Quaker women and their communities. The thesis of my paper is "Quaker women’s communities proved to be sources of support for their members. These communities were a source of power for female Friends. " Quaker women had an unusual degree of power and independence, and played a lot of roles that were not usually open to women in the 18th century. I'm arguing that their communities were part of the reason that this was so.

I've never been particularly good at coming up with good titles for my papers. I'm looking for something that will make my professor and other readers laugh, or at least smile, when they read it. Any ideas?

  • Peace Corps Medical Exam-Pap smear cytology results?

    Hi all,

This may be a little bit TMI, but I don't know where else to turn. I've searched the internet, to no avail.

I'm a Peace Corps nominee. Part of our evaluation process involves a lengthy medical review. I had a very extensive physical exam as part of this review. I just recently got my Pap smear results back, and they're normal. The Peace Corps wants me to put down my Pap smear cytology results. I'm not entirely sure what that means. Do I just put down "normal" under that section?

    Thanks for your help!

  • What are the lyrics to the Lesbians on Cassette song "Marie"?

I heard a few lyrics from the Lesbians on Cassette song "Marie" and would like to know the rest of them. I searched the Internet, and found some background information, but couldn't find the rest of the lyrics.

The song's about two girls from California who fought their school's policy which only allowed straight couples to go to prom. They sued, and won the right to go to prom together.

The lyrics that I can remember go something like, "Waltz her around the floor, Marie. You're dancing for all that you believe.Although your intentions have raised a few questions, the answers can set us all free. So waltz her around the floor, Marie."

What are the rest of the lyrics?Anyone know where I can find a recording?

  • How do I best prepare for my Peace Corps interview?

Hi everyone! I'm a college student, graduating this summer. I have an interview with the Peace Corps scheduled for this Thursday, and I'm really nervous! Are there any RPCVs that could tell me what sort of questions the representative will be asking me?

  • Am I the only woman who feels this way?

I'm about to finish my bachelors' degree. I have a goal of obtaining my PhD within 10 years' time. Although I have a healthy interest in romantic relationships, I have no intention of marrying or having kids. I like being able to make my own decisions regarding my life without having to consult with another person. Am I the only woman who feels like this?

  • Question about selling my eggs?

I've been considering selling my eggs to help pay for school. I've done the research, so I know what the process involves. What I don't have are firsthand accounts from people who've done it. Has anyone here donated/sold their eggs? What was your experience?
