A heating element is made by maintaining a potential difference of 82.0 V across the length of a Nichrome wire that has a 3.71 × 10–6 m2 cross section. Nichrome has a resistivity of 5.00 × 10–6 Ω·m. (a) If the element dissipates 2710 W, what is its length? (b) If 100 V is used to obtain the same dissipation rate, what should the length be?

Copper and aluminum are being considered for a high-voltage transmission line that must carry a current of 69.0 A. The resistance per unit length is to be 0.127 Ω/km. The densities of copper and aluminum are 8960 and 2600 kg/m3, respectively. Compute (a) the magnitude J of the current density and (b) the mass per unit length l for a copper cable and (c)J and (d)l for an aluminum cable.

1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoWhat is going on with this girl?
I met a girl at a party, we talked for about an hour. She got my number then put hers in my phone. After we left the party she grabs my arm and walks with me away. Half way back to the dorm rooms we live in she says " wait where are you going?" because I was just following the lead. I say " I thought you were going to get food with me?". She then grabs my hand and walks with me to food place. Where my friend sees me with her and starts making some pretty immature remarks ( He was just trying to help a brother out but...yea no one wants to hear .."hey man how about that footlong" when your talking to a beautiful girl). So after that she kind of just stops talking to me and gets her food and leaves.
Two days later, I ask a friend of mine if she knows the girl and she said...she has a boyfriend...
What the hell happened. seriously wtf?
6 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoShould I call a girl I met while drinking?
So recently my roommate and I have been going out to parties and nabbing up every single girls
number we can just to see who can get more. I think its kind of harmless because we aren't planning to do anything with these numbers. Well on Friday I met a girl who actually lives pretty locally to me and she was seemed very interested in me as she decided to grab my arm and walk hand in hand with me after we got off the drunk bus. She ends up going to get food with us after, however in the line another friend of mine came up and said something really offending and made it really awkward. Needless to say as soon as she got her food she left.
On the bus she put her number in my phone and got mine too. Should I call her? she seemed really nice.
2 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoI feel like I know too much about other people, any comments on what I should do about this?
In the past two years I feel like I have acquired an remarkable mental capacity for social information. Basically I remember everything about every single person I've met. My friends laugh because I'm always saying going up to people who have no recollection of me whatsoever, but I can tell those people their basic life story even months after I've met them. For instance I met a gentlemen on a campus bus stop my 3rd week of freshmen year and during my junior year I went up to him and say "Hey, hows the psychology going? You're that guy that worked at so so right?" and there will be an awkward silence. This happens at least 3 - 4 times a week LOL. Recently its gotten worse, I've been able piece together information about people that I definitely should not know. Like the campus I live and go to school at has a bus stop to the dorms and the classes and I was able to tell people basically what building they live in, their year, and their sometimes an accurate estimation of what their major is based on where I notice people walking everyday.
Take note, I'm not actually watching people all the time. It is like I'm picking up information out of the corner of my eye.
So the question is, is this normal? and any advice on how to work with this problem?
3 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoWill a car's performance ever be the same after a major accident?
My friend got into an accident in his beautiful porsche...unfortunately it was really bad driving conditions and he needed to be somewhere and his wife had their main car. Anyways, basically it was a front end collision with a guard rail...the headlights n hood are messed up and theres slight dents in the passenger corner due to the bending of the hood. The radiatior is basically gone and I think some of the transmission lines are busted. I was wondering after this gets repaired, will it ever be up to its jolly ol performance?

However, some of the unbroken pieces have broken wooden pegs that was holding the futon together still glued in, Can I just drill these out and put new pegs in? Now I have a board that is held to a broken board by two wooden pegs and wood glue. How can I seperate the two without damaging the unbroken board?

About a little less then a pack a week maybe even a pack every two weeks from that time then I stopped suddenly in February 2009 and started up again in the end of May 2009 and smoked with the approximately the same amount of cigarettes per week up until a couple of weeks ago. Given my current age (19). How well can I expect to recover from the adverse effects of smoking if not totally.
Oh and it would be lovely to have a bunch of people lecture me on how bad smoking is and that because I had one cigarette I'm doomed, catch that bit of sarcasm? ( I mean really don't you think I realize what could possibly happen if I'm done?)

It was a mid 90s tv show. It was very similar to the Power Rangers in the sense there were giant robot battles. The setting of the show was a high school and the protagonist would have to battle against giant robots in what seemed like a computerized world. Not anime.

I was told I was caught speeding 85 in a 65 zone, bad choice by me. I was really tired so I decided to try to follow the car infront of me to make the last 30 minutes of my 4 hour trip. A NYS trooper pulled over that car and as I was driving by he flagged me down too.
I made the mistake of guessing I was going around 80 when he asked me if i knew my speed. He said he had clocked me at 85 and the guy infront of me going 98. The trooper may have assumed I was friends with the kids in the car infront because I said I was following them, but I was only
Unfortunately, court is 160 miles away from home is there anything I can do.? I have two priors that were very minor speeding tickets (under 7 mph over the limit) both reduced to parking tickets and minor moving violations.
What would be my best choice financially and legally? I really do not like the idea of pleading guilty and having a speeding ticket on my record, I know I made a mistake by not watching my spedoator but there's nothing I can change about that now.
