27 years old, Live in a shoebox near London with only a rabid rabbit and my extensive shoe collection for company. Have a habit of buying highly unsuitable motorbikes which I spend a week falling off before relegating them to an afterlife of rust at the bottom of the garden. My favourite word is trumpet and I like prunes.

  • Guppy not using fins?

I recently added two more fancy guppies to my 60l tropical tank. It is a relatively new set up ( around 9 weeks) but I tried to do all the research before buying anything, and have a quality filter, extra air pump, thermometer etc. I conduct regular partial water changes and check the ph/hardness/ nitrates etc weekly and everything seems fine with the water quality. I made sure the tank was cycled before adding fish.

I only feed once a day and have the tank light on for around ten hours a day and so far all my fish look very healthy and active. (I have a few more guppies, 3 tetra and a small pleco.)

The two new guppies were introduced 3 days ago and yesterday I noticed one of them who seemed to not be able to use his side fins, he was corkscrewing around and couldn't stay upright, I fed him some crushed peas ( heard that might help if it's a swim bladder issue) and expected to find a sad little dead fish today. He seems to be much better today, is swimming around a lot easier and it looks like one of his side fins is working again, but not the other.

I can't seem to find any information online about this type of thing happening so would appreciate any advice or help I can give the little fella!

    Thank you!

  • Disturbing recurring dream about my dead Dad?

My Dad passed away suddenly of cardiac arrest 5 years ago when he was 62. He was a wonderful man and my best friend, I miss him every day. All of my life I have been having very vivid dreams but since Dad died, I keep having this recurring dream which always leaves me feeling very shaken and sad when I wake up and I was wondering if anyone could attempt to interpret it for me?

The dream isn't always exactly the same, some times I'm with different people, or in a different setting, but it always follows the same progression.

In my dream, he dies (like in real life) of a heart attack but comes back to life, but his health is affected and I always remember having this sense of 'doom' as in my dream, I know that he is going to die again. So I spend time with him, even hugging him (he wasn't really a touchy feely guy) but he's always very accepting of the fact he is going to die again. I always also feel a sense of acceptance that he's going to die again, and he always does a short while later. I quite often see his coffin, or even his corpse, and in last nights dream I had the funeral directors knock at my door ready to take him away for burial, but I had to tell them 'he's not dead yet, but he will die soon so stay here and wait'.

Apologies if this sounds rather morbid, I'm not usually that kind of person but i have this dream at least once a month and it really frightens me!

Thank you to anyone who may be able to help!

  • Pond suddenly gone green and murky ?

We have a small garden pond which we established about 6 months ago. The pond has a powerful pump and was always clear until a couple of weeks ago when it went green and murky overnight. We clean and check the pump regularly and it is working fine so we are at a loss as to why it's suddenly gone like pea soup. We have two small fish in the pond and would love any advice or suggestions of things we can do without distressing the fish, who seem to still be perfectly healthy. Thanks!

  • Seller acting strange after a bad house survey?!?

First time buyer- had an offer accepted on a house and paid £400 for a full survey on the property which came back with lots of issues. Damp to walls, chimney needed replacing, woodworm throughout, wall ties perished and need replacing plus several other issues. I am a cash buyer and this surveyor was recommended by the sellers estate agent.

The survey also undervalued the house by almost 15k aginst our pffer price.

I asked the seller to consider a lower offer taking into consideration the amount of work which needed doing to the house although I am still interested in the house. The sellers estate agent arranged a specialist to go to the house and quote for all the remedial work as we had requested, so we could get a ball-park figure for the cost . Now things have got strange- the seller has contacted the estate agent and REFUSED to tell him/me how much the work has been quoted for, and seems to have bribed the specialist too as he also wont say?!

The seller now says he will pay for all the remedial work but still wants us to pay the asking price.

This is very confusing and a disturbing lack of clarity which is really, really making me want to walk away.

Any ideas what is going on here? Thanks!

  • My Rabbits runny eyes- please help!?

Hi, I have a beautiful 3 yr old female lionhead dwarf rabbit and over the past few weeks, both of her eyes have started watering more than usual and the excess moisture is matting up the hair on her cheeks. I took her to the vet immediately who checked her over and said there was no sign of infection, and that its 'just one of those things'. I was relieved there is nothing seriously wrong with her, and have been following the vets advice of combing through the hair and keeping her face clean, but its really not improving, in fact the hair around her face is clumping more despite my trying to trim it away. She doesnt display any other signs of illness, is bright and eats well, but I would love to hear from anyone who might have experienced the same thing. Any hints on how I can manage this situation would be much appreciated! Thanks.

  • Why does my cat keep throwing up?!?

I have a one year old kitten who is otherwise in very good health, shes has her shots, and gets regularly wormed and mainlined.

However, about once a week or so, I find her gagging, and then she throws up a lovely little pile of kitty sick...her favourite place is on my duvet!

I dont change her diet drastically, she eats high quality dry and wet food and Im really confused as to why shes started throwing up on a regular basis.

When I check her sicky messes, theres normally pieces of grass floating around in it (gross, sorry!) as she gets to exercise outside for most of the day, but I bring her in at night.

My friend has a cat, and says its just something cats do, but Im not so sure if this is really normal?!

    Thanks for any advice! x

  • Oliver the musical- Bill Sykes song?!?

The musical Oliver, starring the great Ollie Reed as Bill Sykes, is one of my favourite films of all time. However, every time I watch it, I get confused about something..when Bill Sykes is onscreen, a menacing theme tune is played in the background, and for some reason I was always sure that he sung a song somewhere in the film.

Every time I watch the film, I half expect Ollie to burst into song but it never happens. Is this all a figment of my imagination, or was there originally a song for Bill Sykes?

Maybe it got cut out of the dvd release?

    Hmm..

  • ZXR400 front brake issue- please help!?

I currently ride a zxr400 which is my pride and joy, but ever since I bought it, Ive never been able to get the front brake to work all that well. Ive bled it, changed the master cylinder with a new one from a zx6r, checked all my cables, done everything I can think of! The brake does work but its not very ''bitey'' and when I had the bike serviced a few months ago, they couldnt pinpoint the issue.

    All ideas welcome, thanks!

  • What do those companies who offer ''Cash for your old phones" actually DO with them?!?

Im always seeing adverts on telly for those companies (such as Envirophone and the stupidly named Mazuma mobile) who say they will send you cash for your old phones.

What happens to your phone when you send it to them? Id be really interested to know as they give you a really rubbish price for your phone, even if its a new model!

Do they get recycled? Do they sell them? Send them to 3rd world countries? I have no idea!

  • 70s Hammer Horror film about group of bikers?

Im trying to remember the name of this film that I saw on telly years ago when they had a Hammer Horror season. It was probably made in the 70s, and involved a group of young bikers who could cheat death and become immortal, but they had to kill themselves in order for that to happen!

If not a hammer film, it was definitely filmed in England as Im almost certain some of the scenes took place in Walton-upon-Thames.

Ten points to the first correct answer! Thanks movie buffs!

  • Does my rabbit have diarroeah?

My dwarf lionhead rabbit looks like she may have diarroeah and Im really worried- obviously I will call the vets first thing tomorrow but I was wondering if someone can give me some advice for now?

Its not watery, but Ive noticed that sticky clumps of poop have stuck around her backside and theres a slight smell to it.

Ive just let her out for a run (shes a house rabbit) and she still seems bright and active and is eating well.

What should I feed her, if anything? Shes almost 2 years old and has never had any health problems, although she can be a little grumpy so shes not the easiest to pick up and examine closely.

Any advice would be really appreciated and put my mind at ease a little.

    Thanks x

  • Stinky ZXR4...any ideas?

I love my little zxr400 to bits and have had relatively few problems with it despite its age (1994).

I had it serviced a week or so ago and since then have noticed an oily smell when running. I cant see a leak anywhere and the bike doesnt make puddles when standing, so I have no idea where this smell is coming from! When the bike returned from service it looked like it was burning oil off the exhaust for the first ten mins or so, but that has stopped now.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

  • Imaginative ways to stretch bike leathers?

I went to the London bike show today and came back with a lovely new leather racesuit. It fits like a glove but as with all new leathers, is a mite stiff and I dont really fancy walking around like a robot trying to break it in!

Its snowing, and probably will be for ages yet, so no chance of getting in some riding to ease my lady lumps into the new suit.

Any ideas as to how I can stretch my leathers? Im in a daft mood today so all silly answers accepted. Well, within reason.

  • ZXR400 average price? help please!?

Ive just sold my lovely little bike in order to get some cash together for a bigger machine..its only been gone 5 hours and Im having withdrawal symptoms already! I almost got on the bus home wearing my helmet and leathers but it just wouldnt have been the same.

Ive asked a few questions on here before about my current bike, a zxr250, but Im sick of the damn thing. Cant get parts, cant get anyone to help me, cant get rid of the feeling that Im piddling money away trying to fix it up!

So now, methinks, zxr400? Ridden one before, nice bike. Not too big, not too small.

There are a couple for sale locally and the prices vary so much, Im not sure what the going rate is, I have a budget I need to stick to and dont really want to buy another heap of doody.

Most of the bikes Im looking at have done 16-20 thousand miles, all taxed and mot'd, reasonably spanking looking. 1992-1996 models. Nothing too new as Im likely to scratch it up/put glittery stickers/ insulting slogans on it anyway.

Can anyone give me an idea of how much I should be looking to shell out before someone sees me coming and rips me off!

    Thankee xx

  • Restricting a bike to 33bhp...how much and how?

Full test next week! Ive decided to take the restricted access test and do it on my cbr125 which will limit me to a bike of 33bhp for 2 years as I dont really have experience on a much larger bike. My instructor has already seen me ride and says I should be fine on a larger bike, but to be honest, Im a bit chicken, and anyways, theres always the option of doing the accelerated test later on in the year.

Ive got a zxr250 which will be my first big (ish) bike and I need to look at getting it restricted.

Can anyone give me an idea of how much this roughly costs and whats involved? My mate has a restricted r6 which is restricted via a throttle limiter but I was wondering if there is another way to do it as his bike is a nightmare to ride!

Will the mechanic give me a certficate to prove the bike is restricted?

I just wanted a bit of honest advice before I start calling around so I wont get totally ripped off!

    Ta!

  • Advice on buying a new zxr250..are they any good?!?

Well people, after months of nervously putting it off, Ive got my bike test booked for jan. I will pass! Oh yes! (think positive thoughts girl!)

Ive got a 1989 zxr250 which has been rusting away in the garden for some months and I think its going to cost a bomb to get it road worthy again. Its really chunky and quite heavy, although it still looks pretty cool and goes like the clappers.

As Im quite petite, I dont really want anything larger than a 250 or 400 when I pass my test as Ive ridden a zx6r and a r6 and I dont really want to wrap myself around a lamp post.

The new zxr250 has caught my eye but I would love to hear from anyone who owns one, is it lighter than the older models? (mine weighs a ton!) and are they as nippy?

Or maybe someone has ideas about a different bike I should take a look at? Im not into sports tourers or cruisers (lack of beard and tassles!) and really want a sporty looking bike.

    Thanks!

  • Do I have a randy cat?

My precious little female kittie (Bertie) has been acting really strangely over the last few days. Shes about 8 months old and has always been a playful little thing but not very vocal apart from the odd mew when shes hungry or purring. Shes starting to make loud, almost caterwauling noises and keeps rubbing herself against everything. Her favourite place to be scratched is right at the base of her tail on her back, but when I tried it today, she sort of squats, and then lies on the floor and looks up at me with doe eyes.

Has my little girl turned into a hussy?!! She rarely ventures outside as we prefer her to be a house cat because we couldnt bare to have her hurt on the busy roads, but Im definitely going to have her spayed straight away just in case.

Is this normal behaviour for a (ahem) horny cat? She is the first cat Ive ever owned and Im a little unsure. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks x
