I read that in Serbian lovers can call each other little mice but I'm not sure what form is used when speaking to a woman and what when speaking to a man. Can you help? Thank you.

  • Why can't they do stitches in an ambulance?

Why the trip to the hospital is necessary? It doesn't seem to be such a complicated procedure. Couldn't the paramedics/EMTs do it?

  • Welche Bände wurde mir gefallen?

Zuerst, entschuldigung für mein schlechtes Deutsch. Schule ist schon lange her. Meine Frage: Ich liebe Deutch Musik hören, alltso deutchsprachig musik. Ich will gern neues Musik finden aber ich bin Finnisch und hier hört man kein Deutsch Musik.

Bisher habe ich die folgende Singer/Bände gefunden und geliebt:

Etwas, Anjaka, Christina Sturmer, Silbermond, Eisblume, Juli, Echt, Ich + Ich, Silbermond, Polarkreis, Unheilig

What I mean is seriously Thank You if someone bothers to answer this.

  • How to curse a woman in Bolivian Spanish?

I know they probably use the word puta there and Google found me some sites about How To Curse In Spanish, but since Spanish is not similar in all countries it is spoken in, I wouldn't know how Bolivians would go about saying "F--king whore" or "God damn slut". Puta something? Please include in your answer where your information comes from.

    Thanks.

How to describe time going very slowly? "Two months crawled by" doesn't feel right.

  • Which military rank would a person have who is the head of a garrison?

So, who's the commanding officer at a garrison? Does it depend on the size of the garrison?

Does a hundred soldiers make a garrison and who'd command it? Or does it take 500 soldiers and who'd command it? What about a thousand soldiers?

There are propably differences between countries so please state in your answer which country your answer concerns.

  • Can you think of alternative ways to say 'I can speak language X' in English?

So far I have the following:

    Finnish is my native language.

    I can speak Swedish.

I know Russian. (Is this proper English?)

I have some German. (I read a character in one of Dana Stabenow's books say "I have no Yupik," meaning she can not speak the language.)

I understand Norwegian. (Doesn't convey the presence of active language skills.)

  • Are there saunas in Ukraine? Where Ukrainians bathed before bathrooms?

Since in Finland in the old days bathing, childbirth and even washing the dead before burial happened in sauna I have no idea how these things happened in countries without saunas. In this case I'm especially interested in Ukrainian bathing customs as in some East European countries there is a some kind of a sauna tradition but I don't know about Ukraine. Let's imagine a farm house in the Ukrainian countryside say from 1800s to the present day - where and how did/do the people wash?

In some period dramas I've seen American settlers put a big tub of water on the kitchen floor and bathe in it. Was it really done that way and are there other ways in other parts of the world?
