My roommate and I moved in 3 years ago. We agreed he would pay gas and I would pay electric. We are both moving out, well, he already moved out.

He leaves me this note that says he never set up gas service. We were never notified by the gas company or the landlord. We never got disconnected so I never thought about the gas.

Now, I m worried that I will get slapped with a huge bill by my landlord when he finds out we never set up service. Should I call the gas company and work out? What are my options here?

I can t get a hold of my old roommate because he already moved out to another state. I am certain that if I call the gas company, they will slap ME with some huge bill for three years of gas.
