  • Does atheism support charities?

After looking seriously at many of the questions and answers from the atheist community in yahoo answers under the topic of religion and spirituality, my conception might lead me to believe that atheism is not given to be charitable as so many posts indicate as they are ugly, irate, insulting and have an attitude of only selfish demonstration in my opinion.

Do you think this is this true?

According to one web site (see below) they do support charities.

“but still a small minority in most areas”

“The Atheist Center of India founded in 1940 by the Gora family”

“Humanitas a Dutch organization for social care and community development”

“Hivos an organization to promote change in developing countries”

    names a few.

This one web site stated that..

“Just because an atheist does not believe in “God” does not indicate that they do not have a commitment to the well being of other people.”

This may be truly possible for many people that declare themselves as atheists.

“The misconception about atheists, that they are “against God” and all that this stands for, here extrapolated to assume they are against people”

The question here is where do these misconception originate from? If atheism does indeed promote charities, then it would be fair to say, that believe in atheism, would act in such a way as to demonstrate good will to others?

  • Is atheism a religion or is it a misconception?

If a percentage of atheists (not all but some) are not religious, why do they spend so much time in religious subjects? Some have studied and continue to study religion in great detail in order to refute it but do not acknowledge atheism being a religion. Why? Some atheists not only oppose people who are religious but go out of there way to convince them to believe in what they believe like any evangelist would, yet continue to declare they are not religious. Some atheists are attracted to religious topics, engage and get involved as any religion or religious person would. Atheists try to confuse with non-belief and don’t believe statements but do believe in creating arguments around religion for the purpose of conversion! Does this not make atheism a religion?

  • Why did Dunn laugh while George Strait was singing in the tribute?

Can someone ask him? I guess the song was a little young for good ole George but he still can sing a good tune. Everyone loves him. Dunn is rather cute too.

(Not sure why Dunn was laughing through this one, but I’m sure he was laughing with Strait and not at him. I hope, anyway.)

  • Why was this question deleted? It seemed ok to me?

I just ran across a question I spent ten minutes of my time answering only to get a response - sorry it is gone - been deleted. Seemed to me to be a good question too. Will this one survive?

  • What are the points on a 16 sided object? Anyone good at trig?

I' ve used some graph paper but perhaps it was not big enough. How do you know what the x,y intersecting points are? There are eight points I just had to guess at and would like to know how you would go about finding this out?

  • What started the wars is it something we forget?

Some will tell you it was the shooting of some dignitary or the invasion of one country into another. Is it true to say that unemployment causes all wars. With the means of prosperity, peace will prevail but with out, hostilities rage. Your opinion?

  • Advice or opinion on a comment?

Can I get your opinion on this. A good friend of mine gave me a present, a very nice somewhat arousing dress with matching shoes. I do appreciate the gift and like it however after opening it, he told me that he only wanted me to wear it when I was with him. I didn’t say anything and perhaps he read my facial expression and said he was joking.

I think maybe he was but I didn’t like what he said. I don’t want to seem unappreciative and want to be willing to take a joke but I felt like giving the gift back. Am I wrong for thinking this way? I didn’t respond, just accepted the gift and going to ignore the comment but should I feel guilty, specially if I wear the dress out anytime I like
