  • Why does my car idle high when A/C is on?

I have a 98 Mazda 626 LX-V6 - auto-trans. When I turn the AC on the idle goes way up. The RPM's go fairly high and the idle speed is around 25mph on a flat surface. With the AC off everything seems normal. Has anyone ever heard of this and does anyone have any suggestions? I have taken the Mazda to a dealer and two independant shops and nobody could give me an answer.

  • How long until you received your Unemployment Direct Payment Card?

My sister has filed for New York State Unemployment Benefits, and she has been approved. Her first Payments have been received on July 7th. She has yet to receive her debit card in th email from the State (Which I believe is a Chase MasterCard). The fine print says the card will be in the mail 7-10 business days from the date of first payment. It has been 5. She is anxious. Does anyone remember how long it took to get theirs from NYS?

  • So you delete your contacts when they die?

A family member recently died. He was the first person on my email contact list to ever pass away. Should I delete him? Or perhaps put an asterisk before his name? What would you do...?

  • I was sentenced by a court that was out of the courts jurisdiction... what can I do?

I live in the town of Concord, New York. My mailing address is Colden, New York. I am not exactly sure why Colden is my mailing address but that is common practice in Western NY for towns that border each other to share mailing addresses, for example Springville, NY is in Erie County but across the border in Cattaragaus County, some of the residents close to Springville still share the Springville mailing address/zip code. To set this clear, I certainly live within the Concord limits and pay Concord taxes, my house is Zoned for Concord... I LIVE IN CONCORD.

Last month I was charged with a Class C Misdemeanor (the lowest level of crime in New York State, anything below a Class C is a 'violation'). The charge originated in the town of Concord and subsequently I was arrested in Concord. Immediately the New York State Police transported me to the town of Colden court where a Judge imposed a $500 bail. Two days later I posted bail. Last week I appeared in court and was sentenced to a six-month ACD (Acquittal upon Contemplation of Dismissal) and a $50 restitution to the Plaintiff.

Basically the case was thrown out as long as I pay the $50 and I do NOT get arrested in Colden for six months.

Concord has it's own Erie County court system just like Colden. How is it possible that I was accused/charged and arrested in the town of Concord yet still sent to the Colden court? Was this "legal"? Concord court was NEVER involved in this case but the crime took place in Concord? Could this have been a mistake by the State Police, where they simply thought they were in Colden? Perhaps they were thrown off by my mailing address? Since this was a Misdemeanor does this give jurisdiction in any township in Erie County?

I will certainly call my attorney that represented me on Monday. This all just clicked in my head a short while ago which is why I am asking now. I am sort of excited that I may have stumbled on a loophole in my case and I may be able to keep my fifty bucks. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of situation? Any and all input is appreciated.

  • Can you walk across America?

I am wondering if it is possible to legally walk across the United States from the Atlantic to the Pacific. The reason I ask is due highways that do not allow pedestrian traffic, private property that does not allow trespassing, and terrain that is virtually impossible to cross. So, has this been achieved within the last 10 years and if so, what route?

  • is Forex a good place to start?

I have absolutely no portfolio so is the Forex worth getting into these days, is it a good market to dabble in? I have heard that exchanging currencies is easier for beginners then buying/selling stock, is that true? Was thinking about throwing a few bucks or so into the Foreign Exchange to play with. I don't expect much of a return, in fact I may very well lose it but I would like to give it a shot. Any pointers??? Where to begin??

  • Multiple Display question?

Ok on my PC I have two displays, one is a 23inch monitor and the other is my 28inch CRT boob tube. The monitor is Display 1 and the TV is Display 2. My TV is to the left, and my monitor is to the right. Without setting the TV to the number 1 display, how do i set it so that I drag windows to the left to be viewed on the TV instead of the right but keeping my Start Menu on the monitor??? Anyone have any idea?

  • ATI Radeon 3800 S/Video Output?

My ATI Radeon has an S/Video output on the back of the card. I am thinking about purchasing an S/Video to RCA adapter-cable so I can patch it to my old 28" boob tube that I have here in the den. Does anyone have any experience with Radeon cards, more specifically with the S/Video output. And if so, can you tell me if it works good? How is the quality, etc. My goal is to run movies and play some games on the TV. The audio is a 5.1 surround, but my monitor is only a 19". So I think using the 28" Tv (even though its not High Def) will still be a good improvement for my gaming experience. Any input on this would be great. Thanks in advance....

  • Why do dogs prefer dog food over cat food and vice-versa?

I have 3 cats and a dog. I feed them all at the same time and when I put the dog and cat foods down the cats go right for the cat food and the dog goes right for her food. What is it that attracts them to their particular food? Even when my dog runs out of her food she will wait for me to put down the dog food instead of eating the car food and also the cats barely ever touch the dog food (I have caught them a couple times though).

  • just bought a 1991 Chevy Cavalier... now what?

Today I purchased a 91 two-door cavalier. I bought it as a winter beater, but it turns out that it is in really great shape. the motor runs like a top, no fluids leak at all. The body has a few dings on it and there is a little rust right under the driver side door. I am almost thinking about sprucing it up a little and maybe driving it in the summer time as well because it does have the potential. I want to know if that automotive spray paint that they sell at walmart is any good? I have never painted a car before and I figure this is the perfect type of car to try my luck. Right now the car has multiple colors on it, like a red trunk. an off-white hood, white fenders. This car has obviously been ditched a couple times, but the suspension and alignment are excellent so whatever accidents it has been in, it has obviously been repaired the right way. So I'm thinking a new paint job (done by me), should I prime it first? Some hubcaps, what else can I do to get this car a little nicer? I have never really has a beater that was worth my time. Any input is greatly appreciated.

  • How long should I boil water for to rid it of any bad parasites/bacteria?

I live in an area where our main water source is a small creek, the pump house is across the road. We are out in the sticks and most of the residents in the area draw water from wells. Since my water is supplied by the town, I occasionally get notices to boil our water before we consume any of it. We usually get the notices once a month and usually during the summer time. They never specify how long to boil the water for, nor do they even specify why and what the problem with the water is. My question is, what is a safe amount of boiling time? I rapidly boil a gallon or so for 5 minutes, let it cool to as to not damage the pitcher and then put it in a filtered pitcher and into the fridge. Is 5 minutes at rapid boiling a safe amount of time to kill off any bad stuff in the water?

  • Using Bitlocker, how do I lock a drive after I have unlocked it without having to restart?

Whenever I boot up the computer my drive that is encrypted with BitLocker (win7) is locked. When I access the files on it I need to enter my password. When I need to close the drive however, it stays unlocked and I can't seem to find the feature to lock it back up (if there is one). The only way I know how is to reboot the machine again. Any help would be great! Thanks.

Tomorrow is my girlfriends 27th birthday. Originally we werent going to be seeing each other, I was supposed to be across the country in Nevada, now without hardly any notice I am back in new york. I could really use some last minute birthday ideas besides the usual dinner, and a gift. Nothing was planned, I was originally just going to mail her a gift and talk to her on the phone but since I am here... well you get the idea. Thanks!

PS. She knows I am here, so thats not exactly a surprise anymore.

  • Can I have a video as my desktop background?... read my details...?

Ok I have a pretty fast computer. Intel quad-core x64, 4gigs of ram and a 512mb nvidia. It handles video and gaming very well. I am also running Windows 7. I know when I had XP I was able to run videos as my desktop wallpaper using BSplayer. Is there a way in Windows 7 Professional to do the same thing? I tried it with BSplayer, but in order to do so I had to disable Aero and it made my desktop look not as sexy.. sorry I am a sucker for sexiness. SO my actual question is.... Can I run a video as my desktop wallpaper, using either Windows 7 Pro x64 or any other third party software what will NOT disable my Aero Glass???
