  • is advertising for an all female band discrimination?

How far do we take discrimination complaints? If the girls throw a bridal shower, can they advertise for a women only band? In Michigan, a woman put an ad on the church bulletin board for a Christian roommate. She is being fined for violating law. Where do we draw the line on 'fairness' ?

  • Why is assumed by so many that old equals obsolete?

When you talk about the constitution, so many very quickly suggest that, since it is 200 years old, it is no longer relevant (at least, without modifications)? And this assumption seems to be randomly applied. Shakespeare's thoughts are seen as perfectly relevant and applicable to modern love or politics, and he was writing long before James Madison. Why is this?

  • What exactly constitutes 'Cruel & Unusual Punishment'?

The concept is obviously arbitrary, since the same people who put that phrase into the constitution allowed burning alive as a method of execution (at least until 1800 or so). In 2006 the death penalty in California was suspended because the 'drug cocktail' used for execution was deemed to be cruel and unusual, due to the fact that the condemned might be in pain while dying. Is this a stretch of reason, or is it wisdom?

  • I have a problem with Artificial Girl 3?

I just bought Artificial Girl 3. When I open the Maker program, the main menu is too large for the screen, so that I can not access the bottom tabs. I can not drag the menu far enough up to do so. How do I shrink the menu?

  • When we increase taxes on corporations, who pays the bill?

It makes sense that lowering taxes for the wealthy fattens their wallets. But is the reverse true? If we increase taxes on corporations, won't they simply increase prices to the consumer...me and you? And/or give the employees less? So that they do not suffer while we do?

  • Indulge me please..one more Mosque question?

I'm pretty conservative, but I have a problem with all the anti-mosque rhetoric. Does this sound way too much like the reaction after Pearl Harbor that led to the Japanese internment camps? While I am absolutely certain that some planned (or not yet planned) espionage was prevented by rounding up anyone with Japanese roots, did the end justify the means? Yes the plan is insensitive, and yes, I wish the planners/owners would do the graceful thing and relocate, but is it so horrible that a community center is placed 2 blocks away from ground zero? Sure, they have ties to some questionable people. But so does everyone in the political world whether liberal or conservative. Reagan ate dinner with crooks, as does Obama; so associations do not a problem make.

So, to the question: Is the desire to block the mosque a reasoned and reasonable idea, or an emotional reaction to a traumatic event?

  • What are the pros & cons regarding a flat rate income tax?

I've heard several tax rates suggested, from 10% to 15%. This is taxation across the board: corporate, single, married, it does not matter. Assume the research is done, and it was determined that a flat 12% tax rate would give us current revenue levels. Would it work? Why or why not?

  • From where comes the notion that life should be fair?

It is not in the constitution. It is not in the bible. It is not in any legal code that i am aware of. Where does this silly notion come from?

  • If we had these qualifiers to vote for each political party?

who would win the next election?

To vote Republican, you have to promise that you are not a racist hater.

To vote Democrat, you have to promise that you have an IQ of more than 50.

Which party will have more voters?
