  • Chemistry Buffer Help?!?

This questions leaves me stumped. I'm just not sure how to get either the pKa or the pH so I can use the concentrations to calculate?

    This is the question:

if you mix 20mL of a .1 HCl solution with 10mL of a .2 M KOH solution what will be the final pH?

  • What is the speed of the electron when it is 10.0cm from a charge?

Two stationary positive point charges, charge 1 of magnitude 3.95nC and charge 2 of magnitude 1.95nC , are separated by a distance of 47.0cm . An electron is released from rest at the point midway between the two charges, and it moves along the line connecting the two charges.

What is the speed of the electron when it is 10.0cm from charge #1?

Thank you to anyone who can help!

I've tried a lot of options, I usually get some form of 8.74 (they want the answer in m/s) but the program wont accept it =(

  • Water Flow Physics Help?

Water flows steadily from an open tank as shown in the figure. (Figure 1) The elevation of point 1 is 10.0m , and the elevation of points 2 and 3 is 2.00m . The cross-sectional area at point 2 is 4.80×10−2m^2 ; at point 3, where the water is discharged, it is 1.60×10−2m^2 . The cross-sectional area of the tank is very large compared with the cross-sectional area of the pipe.

Assuming that Bernoulli's equation applies, compute the volume of water that flows across the exit of the pipe in 1.00s . In other words, find the discharge rate in cubic meters/ second

    THANK YOU

  • Laser Power Physics Question?

LASIK eye surgery uses pulses of laser light to shave off tissue from the cornea, reshaping it. A typical LASIK laser emits a 1.0mm diameter laser beam with a wavelength of 193nm . Each laser pulse lasts 17ns and contains 1.1mJ of light energy.

What is the power of one laser pulse?

What is the intensity of the light wave?

    THANK YOU

  • Physics Question: Oscillation?

From my HW any hints would be appreciated!!!

An elephant's legs have a reasonably uniform cross section from top to bottom, and they are quite long, pivoting high on the animal's body. When an elephant moves at a walk, it uses very little energy to bring its legs forward, simply allowing them to swing like pendulums. For fluid walking motion, this time should be half the time for a complete stride; as soon as the right leg finishes swinging forward, the elephant plants the right foot and begins swinging the left leg forward.

    A. An elephant has legs that stretch 2.3m from its shoulders to the ground. How much time is required for one leg to swing forward after completing a stride

    B. What would you predict for this elephant's stride frequency? That is, how many steps per minute will the elephant take?

  • Oscillation: Basic Physics?

So I have a question from my Physics HW that is completely stumping me.

I can calculate a lot of values but I can't seem to get what I need!

    Here's the question:

A 339 oscillator has a speed of 121 when its displacement is 3.20 and 74.0 when its displacement is 6.20 . What is the oscillators maximum speed?

Thanks a ton if you can explain!

  • Can anyone translate Italian?

We've found some old pictures here at home.

One is of a man names "Aidalino"

The back of the photo is written on and we're dying to know what it means.

We've figured out a little of the begining using Google Translate.

It seems like he is sending this to someone so they can remember him by it.

But we're a little lost in finding the meanings of these words (plus we may have some of the letters off, his handwriting is pretty but hard to read!).

If anyone knows what this may mean,

we'd love to figure it out!

    Here it is:

    "Questa la tente voi

    Per ricordo ese

    credo ese la credite

    valerrtiere so

    Gou assetto

    dalla sua siglia e

    vostra evipote"

Then it's signed and dated April 11, 1939

Thanks to anyone who can help!

  • What to do for a Barn Swallow?

In our barn we've had barn swallows nesting for a few years now.

We love them, really cool birds and their babies are so cute!

Sadly this weekend one little guy (large enough to fly on his own, but doesn't seem to be an adult)

got his wing stuck to a serious fly trap.

By the time we got there a few of his feathers had been ripped out.

We washed him off and he looks great, but the gap in his wing is pretty big and he can't seem to be able to fly.

Right now he is in the barn and we've opened a stall for him to get around in. It's a pretty big space and if he can fly, it's all open and near his nest.

We've given him some food and water, but I'm not sure what the best thing to feed the little guy is?

I was also wondering if anyone knew if his feathers will ever grow back?

    Thanks!

  • Convention Theme Suggestions?

I am part of a state run organization in New Hampshire.

We have a convention coming up and over 300 high school students are coming from around the state to compete and take part in workshops and activities.

As part of the leading group, we have to come up with the theme.

However, we are fairly stuck this year and I'm trying to get lots of ideas!

In the past there have been themes like "Believe", "Lead out Loud", "Infinite Potential".

This year we're hoping for something "Star" related.

If you can think of any songs that relate for us to use, anything energetic and recognizable please throw that in.

    Any imput helps!

    Thank You!

  • An Equine Career Choice?

I am majoring right now in PreVet at the University of New Hampshire. I have wanted to be a vet for a long time, however, I am unhappy with this choice. I don't think that i will be able to continue on to be a vet and be happy.

I have been looking into new careers. I have been thinking a lot about going into the Equine Nutrition feild (my university has a new Equine Science major forcusing on genetics and nutrition). However, I do not know the right choices for majors and such that go along with a career in either research or public relations and such.

Does anyone have any tips on what majors will help me in different areas? Maybe someone works at a grain or feed company and can help?

    Thank you!
