I am a mechanical engineering student, now a sophomore. I'm just getting started in the more intense solid works and related CAD programs. With a budget of under $2k, I need a laptop that will be reliable. I know the Quadrophonic is supposed to outperform the GTX graphic cards when it comes to cad, but it seems from all of the reports I have read that the 970 is outperforming the quadro 2000m.

My top two laptop choices are: Alienware 15 with 1Tb ssd and 1tb disk, 16gb ram, 3gb 970m; or the precision 1700 with 512 ssd, 500 disk, 32gb ram and the 4gb quadro 2000m graphics card. The specs seem allot better on the Alienware and it is $400 cheaper than the precision. Will the graphics card matter that much? I do like to game occasionally, like maybe two hours a weekend (I am by no means a gamer - I'd rather be out hiking) so I would like it to perform reasonably for games as well (but gaming is not the reason for this purchase).

The last two years I've had severe problems with reading. I've always been sensitive to headaches but recently just reading for a half hour will create an excruciating tension headache in the back of my head coupled with a throbbing ache behind my eyes. I've had my eyes checked but the doctor said I've got perfect vision and I'm probably just straining them. Now that summer is here, I took a few days off of reading and started back today. Yet again, my ache is back. This is extremely difficult at this time in my life being that I am in college full time. During school, I pretty much always have a headache. I'm just used to it now.

How can I prevent this? Are there any techniques while reading to minimize it?

I m currently a mechanical engineering major with a minor in history. I have been looking at graduate programs that could bring my two interests together - building new things and understanding old things. I ve found several architectural history programs but I m wary of going that direction - how could it benefit me? What jobs could I get?

Wondering if a civilian army/person could simply drop into a war zone to assist in a war. I've never heard of someone doing so, so I thought I'd ask.

I've had recruitment officers tell me to not even apply to UCLA because it has become such a liberal school that I would barely survive a couple of years there, being a libertarian.

UCSB seems to have the least biased teachers, but I do not know what they are like because all that anyone debates is whether or not it is a party school(I don't party much either... or in the sense that getting drunk and burning buildings down is "partying").

UCSD is that school with a reputation for being great, boring, and fun all at the same time(a miracle?). I can't find any information on teachers or student life here.

I'd probably get accepted into all three, but I don't want to enroll and drop in a year.

Lastly, I'm a Mechanical Engineering and Geology double major. I've taken several classes at CC during High School and retained a 4.0 while doing it.

I'd like to edit my HD videos together with 2k videos in RedCine-x but it won't open my MP4s. I can only find R3D to MP4 converters but I want to convert MP4 to R3D. Can anyone help?

I am looking at putting a brand new 351w engine in a 1969 Ford Mustang. The Transmission is doing really good but the engine isn't; so I just want to replace the whole thing. Do I need a new transmission if I purchase a new 351w? It is the same engine (I have heard) that they used to put in the Mustang in 1969, but it is also new - so I don't know if I will need a new computer and transmission or not.

I am just wondering how much it would cost to do a film with a good amount of amazing VFX work. Mostly backgrounds (filming using bluescreen) but some VFX monsters or people. A few VFX crowds as in World War Z. Maybe an 1.2-1.5 hours of VFX in a 2 hour movie.

I am not looking for an average cost per hour. I am looking for an average cost per film for professional grade VFX. Throw the numbers at me because I can't find them anywhere.

I have been training to get my Private pilot's license slowly for a few years now.

I am leaving on a business/vacation trip in a few days and it is a 6 hour flight across country in a large commercial aircraft (as a passenger). I have been told that I can log this commercial flight time in my logbook, but I have to log it differently. How do I log this correctly?

If there are any big problems with logging this, please tell me what I have to do to be able to do it problem-free.

I can only work in FTP mode. I know how in the easy "normal" mode, but can't figure out how in FTP. Thanks for all real answers!

My uncle has been overseas for 4 years. He is lawfully supposed to get 1 month off to visit his family before he is sent overseas for another 2 years. The discharge office just told him that they will not give him a release date; which the law states: must be given 3 months before departure. He is supposed to go back overseas in Sep., but they haven't given him a date for that either.

He has already gone to his superior, and he has gotten no answers. How can they break their own rules? HELP!

Who do I report this to, and how do I reach them?

Had errors with mic input, and then the touchscreen became all messed up. Bought a second one, and now the 2nd one has a buzzing sound on the video footage when you record using the internal mic. Why is this? How can I fix this?

I have been looking for the last 6 months and can't settle on even 2 majors. My favorite areas in High School are Speech and History. I Love watching the headlines every morning to be aware of what's going on in the country before school(I know, not normal). I have straight As in math and I love to build things. Because of this, I was thinking of going into computer engineering but my problem is; I don't enjoy math. I do enjoy my robotics team though.

I was looking into going to law school to be a political lawyer, but I see that they have a very hard time finding jobs. Last, I was looking into becoming an allergist. I already have some knowledge of what they do, since I see an allergy clinic often for allergy shots.

I can't work with blood or do anything really gross(or my definition of gross). WHAT SHOULD I DO? Have any other Ideas? I am already pretty settled on getting a commercial pilots license since I love to fly planes, but that is more for a "fall back on, just in case" (I guess you could call it a minor); since they also have trouble getting a job. Any objections?

If you stand at 100 elev. (sea level measurement) in California, then travel to 100 elev. in Asia Or Africa, is it going to be the same as in Ca? Or could it be like 1,000 in Ca, because the sea level is lower/higher in Africa or Asia? In other words, with my theory, 0 sea level in CA could be -200 sea level in Asia/ Africa etc..? Tell me what you think, and if this sea level has been proven all around the world as the same. My Idea is Copyrighted so don't get any ideas! I could and will take you to court.
