  • Higher Intelligence equals Less Religiosity?

Not that I agree with the propaganda filled Daily Mail, but do you think as we're universally getting more intelligent that atheism/agnosticism will rise more dramatically?

  • If you believe Christianity to be the true religion...?

What about the 5 billion other people with different beliefs? Are they wrong? Every culture has their own ideas of God, and fundamentally they all break down to the same thing... How can one justify saying their religion is right without totally ignoring the facts around them? You can't use books as a source, all religions have books.

  • Christians who interpret the new testament literally, do you accept...?

the first gospel was written after 50 AD (which scholars agree to be true)?

If so, how can the words of someone reminiscing be seen to be accurate? There's the exaggeration fallacy humans are susceptible to (we all do it when telling stories to friends), never mind the multiple translations over the millennia with the absence of a reliable original text.

This is not an attack on your faith; I'm just asking how can you take something literally when by definition, it clearly can't be?

  • As IQ decreases, religious belief increases?

Not a fan of IQ being absolute model for intelligence, but for arguments sake lets say it is...

  • Religion derived from 'our inner monkey'?

Do you think religious belief comes directly from our inner monkey, ie our predisposed instincts, and if so can we as a collective control our insticts which hinder us more than help in today's world?

Ego, fear, anger, self doubt, judgmentalism etc...

  • Christians; how do you justify massive financial establishments?

I was raised a catholic, so that church owns it's own state worth $500 billion, with untold treasures within. Every other church (other religious deities included) have massive followings with grandiose places of worship and many well functioning business models.

I direct this at Christians as I am familiar with Christianity's teachings of Jesus Christ, whom would have been utterly disgusted at these institutions about his teaching in life. You know it's harder for a rich man to get into the kingdom of heaven than a camel through the eye of a needle, aka impossible.

I find it quite the hyprocrisy claiming the road to salvation when your own prophet condemned these types of establishments vigorisly... please explain to me how the current system is in line with the teachings of Jesus?

  • Religiously Speaking, suicide loophole?

Say I was a good follower of my deity, and suicide is a sin resulting in eternity spent in Hell.

What would happen if I were to cycle a unicycle over shark infested water on a tightrope with absolutely no training?

Even though this will undoubtedly lead to my death, which I'd be aware of, however reckless endangerment isn't technically suicide.

    Do I go to Hell?

  • Do you realise God's loving world...?

is the most disturbing fight for survival imaginable for every creature on it, just because we are *supposedly* the most dominant species we fail to see the struggle between all other animals?

  • Do priests have superpowers?

They can use telekinesis or some other form of superpower to make ordinary tap water become divine blessed by God. This always baffled me as a child, what is this process called? Is it just plain old blessing?

  • What evidence do we have that Jesus was born 25Dec?

I recently watched a documentary that concluded nowhere is it proved Jesus was born on Christmas, or in a manger, or King Herod killed children under 2 at that time, or which area Jesus was born in. The story of Barabbas vs Jesus release by Pontius Pilate is also fabricated, as historical fact show the romans never released prisoners especially someone like Barabbas who was a rebel against Rome. Any documents about the Pilate reveals (According to Philo), Pilate was "inflexible, he was stubborn, of cruel disposition. He executed troublemakers without a trial." He refers to Pilate's "venality, his violence, thefts, assaults, abusive behavior, endless executions, endless savage ferocity."

Point being, if tradition has cemented these ideas into reality, is it not fair to suggest that the Bible teachings are guidelines and not literal truth?

  • How can one claim there is faith in Atheism?

I find this odd to say the least:

"Faith is the confident belief or trust in the truth or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing."

"Atheism can be either the rejection of theism, or the position that deities do not exist. It tends towards skepticism regarding supernatural claims, citing a lack of empirical evidence."

One could argue 'You have faith in science', which has absolutely nothing to do with the fact of what atheism is. Fundamentally it's the lack of faith in the supernatural, regardless of how that came about.

Can someone who cites the "Atheist's require more faith" argument, please illiterate as to how this makes any sense.

  • If it were proved God did not exist?

Although it's virtually impossible to prove or disprove the existence of God, how would you react if this proof did one day arise?

Please don't answer with he is real or not, I know the evidence shows he is not needed and I know the faith that shows he is. I'm asking what if?

If it was proved that he did exist, I would be very surprised and somewhat delighted that he managed to confuse so well for so long, and yes I would become religious as a result.

  • How old is the earth, and where did we come from?

4.5 billion years old, by the process of evolution.

There's mountains of scientifically valid information I can view to back this up, I don't know anyone where I live who would dispute this, clergy included.

I'm curious as to how anyone does not believe this, saying evolution is only a theory is invalid especially because this 'theory' has substantially more documented evidence than the universally accepted theory of Gravity.

I understand that it contradicts made in God's image, some people go with God helps evolution along (which doesn't make sense), and most religious people I know believe that God was involved in the initial creation.

Bearing in mind there's already massive amount's of evidence showing our ancestors, and that to observe evolution with our 'eyes' would take millions of years. What would it take to believe that evolution is a reality?

  • The return of Jesus...?

... I'm curious to know how this works, Christ is to return to save his people? Is there then an armageddon? He saves only the faithful to God (all religion's God), or him? What about those who already have died, do they wait in purgatory until this event?

No offense intended, I was brought up with the teaching that you die and either go straight into heaven or wait in purgatory for an undisclosed amount of time until you were pure enough to get in. The only people who went to hell were really evil people who didn't ask for forgiveness, murders who got last rights just have to wait in purgatory a lot longer.

I don't believe in any of it, however I am interested to understand what's the consensus on how this works.

    Thank you.

  • Giving up smoking of marijuana and cigarettes?

I'm 22, I've been smoking cigarettes since I was 12, and cannabis since 14. I have never even attempted to give up either, smoking cannabis made me smoke far fewer cigarettes than that of my friends who didn't smoke weed, so I seen no problem.

Anyway, I've stopped smoking weed for around a week now with no problem, but yesterday I thought I may as well stop cigarettes, and damn now I actually feel physically unwell, tingling sensations all around my body, sore head etc...

Chewing gum, eating, doing activities, none of this is working. I'm seriously considering starting up marijuana again, although I usually mixed it with tobacco so that defeats the purpose.

Any tips from anyone who's kicked tobacco would be very much appreciated.

  • Do you really dispute evolution?

I know creationists try to find gaps in evolution and suggest divine intervention, and use terms such as micro-evolution, but the 'real' scientists they use completely accept evolution as a whole, only claim 'Intelligent Design' may be a driving force.

"The methods of scientific research include the generation of hypotheses about how phenomena work, and experimentation that tests these hypotheses under controlled conditions."

When people say evolution is only a theory, don't they realize that every fact in science is a theory, by the very nature of science is to have a hypotheses and try and disprove it. The longer the 'theory' remains disproved the more apparent it is a fact.

So when you dispute evolution as a whole by means of theory argument, your also disputing things like gravity or the fact the earth rotates around the sun.

If you require evidence, do some research there is plenty of physical evidence out there, if your aim is to disprove the evolution hypothesis present your scientific evidence to do so, words don't disprove anything.

  • God may or may not be real?

I would think non-believers can't rule out the, however unlikely to them, chance of Divine existence. Where the other side will deny any such possibility of non-existence. I'm probably wrong in this generalization.

In any case briefly describe your view, trying not to use personal bias, ideals or quotations.

    Thank you.

  • The hutchinson effect, why will government not fund this guy?

So he is a genius, a hand's on one who can't write down his experiments mathematically... He has successfully observed and video recorded the the levitation of steel and other substances, he has a piece of stainless steel that decays at a ratio 1:50 years, has produced decades of video evidence of somewhat unbelievable effects... although unable to replicate the effect every time (bear in mind radio couldn't be replicated every time in the beginning) it works and has been well-documented as such.

Do you think government has perfected the hutchinson effect? Fundamentally if it was perfected it would enable the ability to travel at much faster than the speed of light with very little energy after the effect has been created... Its strange that in the 80's they took all his material and now all they claim no such event occurred.

    To quote Ronald Regan:

"I occasionally think how quickly our differences, worldwide, would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world"

He claimed to have seen an UFO, as many other people have... with a bit of research its clear to see earth is visited regularly by a multitude of UFOs all using a technology that is totally quiet, the ability to turn on its axis at any velocity without encountering G-force, unbelievably fast, and mostly invisible (can only be seen in different light spectrum's).

With this obvious 'threat' why isn't billions being put into the hutchinson effect to research it to a proper level of understanding, or are 'black' projects already doing so in your opinion?
