I have been with the same car insurance provider for years with no claims so I have now gone up to a rating 1 (protected for life). However, rather than my premiums reducing as my rating improved, they stayed the same or increased slightly over the years. These payments were being directly debited from my account so eventually I wisened up and realised that I was paying about the same as the average p-plater in a modified car (I'm a 28 year old female who drives an unmodified Kia Rio), So much for budget. I switched insurers but I want to know if it is legal for insurance companies to continue to charge a rating 1 driver at rating 5 prices? Am I meant to tell them that my rating has changed every year? Am I entitled to a refund? Any info would help!
