  • TV HDMI crashes when I launch PC games?

I have an Auvio LCD HDTV with an HDMI cord connected to an Alienware M11x. It works fine until I launch a PC game; at which point the TV shows the game for a little bit, starts flickering and crashes with the signal "No Signal". However the screen on the laptop shows the game playing as normal.

  • What is the best way to improve my APFT run-time?

Hi, I'm an Infantryman in the Army National Guard, it's great and all but I am worrying about the APFT every single day and it's pissing me off. I normally score 80 across the board and I'm doing fine with most of my events, but I am always worried about my run. When I run by myself in the neighborhood I typically do 2 miles in ~14:32-14:45 and maybe 14:58+ if I'm having a really off day. However I usually score ~13:50 when I actually take the APFT. I typically run 2 miles(as if I'm taking the test) 3 times a week at a moderately fast pace. I almost always hit 1 mile at 6:45 but my 2 mile run time is still ~14:32+

    The bottom line:

*How do you improve your run-time if you are at my skill-level

*I hear a lot about people actually enjoying running, how do I get like that? Because that would probably help, because I am miserable when I run

  • Army Physical Fitness Uniform personal use?

I enlisted in the Maryland Army National Guard and I was issued a Army Tracksuit for PT.

I have not gone to basic or AIT and I am still going to RSP drills until January.

I want to use the Army Tracksuit for running in my neighborhood as it is getting cold soon and I do not have any other cold running attire.

Is there any law/military regulation that says that I cannot use that issued Army track suit for running in Public because If I can use the tracksuit that was issued to me it would be more convenient as I do not want to spend money on a tracksuit myself.

I am asking because there are some regulations (like for the USMC Marpat uniform) that you cannot wear in public.

  • Requirements for firearms ownership in Maryland?

I was on mdgunsafety.com and I came across this

    "

Completion of this Firearms Safety Training course will satisfy one of the requirements for firearms ownership under Maryland law. You must consult Maryland and federal law for the remaining requirements for legal possession and ownership of a firearm."

Where can I find the rest of the requirements???

  • ADD Military "acceptable academic performance"?

I was diagnosed with ADD in Elementary school and I have a question.

I have never taken medication or really been treated for it and I'm doing fine and have a 2.8 GPA overall for High School and about a 3.44 as of my last report card.

It says that "acceptable academic performance for the year without medication. If treatment for ADD/ADHD occurred throughout the school "

Are my grades considered acceptable? I am doing crappy in math and AP Psych but I have a 3 point something GPA, is that considered "acceptable academic performance"? Or am I not subject to the acceptable academic performance thing because I never took meds for ADD.

  • ADHD/ADD in the military?

When I was in late elementary school/early middle school I was sent to a psychiatrist/psychologist and they think I might have ADHD/ADD though I do not know if I was actually diagnosed with it, I have never taken any meds for it and I am 2 months from my 18th birthday.

    I was looking at http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/...

and they said "MEPS may require school transcripts to demonstrate acceptable academic performance for the year without medication."

Now I have never taken any ADHD/ADD meds in my entire life and I have had at least a 2.0 or higher GPA during my entire high school life and I have never failed a class but currently I have a 53% in AP psychology and I'm doing bad in my "College Algebra" class (though I haven't failed) would this be considered unacceptable academics and disqualify me from joining? I'm trying to join the Army National Guard.

  • How many college credits can you get in the army & GI Bill?

About how many college credits can you get while in the army per year if you are an infantryman assuming you do not re-enlist.

Also how much money do you get from the GI bill if you are in the Army for 3 years(that is standard length for infantry, right?)

  • Active Army before college or National Guard during college?

I've narrowed what I want to do down to 2 things.

I definitely want to serve active duty at some point but I also want a bachelors degree.

Option 1: Join the National Guard during college and join active after college

    Problems:

*I hear it's hard to join active duty after college because the National Guard doesn't let you alot of the time

*I'm not that interested in college and I'm just getting the bachelors degree so I can aim higher than a cop and join the FBI or something

Option 2: Join Active Duty Army and go to college after the military

    Problems:

*Allegedly it is difficult to go to college after the military

*It will be difficult to finance myself in college

*Allegedly the GI bill cheats you sometimes

BTW is bootcamp held yearlong or will I have to wait a while if I sign up late

  • Is going to college after the Army really that hard?

I've been arguing over the military with my father.

He says that if I join the Army it will be very hard for me to go to college after I get out and that its also hard to get a degree while in Active duty.

I want to do Infantry and get a 4 year degree when I get out.

Is going to college after the Army really that hard????

  • National Guard during community college/college?

I am in Maryland and I am planning on joining the National Guard after I am enrolled in Community College for 2 years and to a Normal College(A 4 year college but I would only be there for 2 years) for 2 years.

After getting my 4 year degree I want to join the Regular Army.

    I have several questions

1> Is it possible/feasible to be in the National Guard and community college/college at the same time?

2> Would my rank from the National Guard transfer to the Regular Army

3> How long is the contract for 11B in the National Guard

4> Would I skip basic training if I joined the Regular Army after the National Guard?

  • M16A4 & M4A1 ratio & details?

Not a vital question but I am simply curious.

I know that most Army Units use the M4, which units get the M16A4 and are the M4's that are given to most Army Units the "M4" with burst fire or the "M4A1"'s with fully automatic fire.
