Atheists: Why is intelligent design off the table?
Even Dawkins when interviewed by Ben Stein in his movie "Expelled" agreed that there is a possibility that the original spark that began the process of evolution was an intelligent design. With the fact that it is completely unexplainable how non-organic matter somehow became living cells, why are atheists so determined to dismiss the idea that the beginning of life was designed by something? I understand why you don't buy into religion or any of the gods of our history, but we're not talking religion here... just the possibility of design.
21 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAnd God said, "Let there be electromagnetic radiation"...?
I've often heard the argument that Biblical creation couldn't possibly be true because the Bible says that God made light on the first day but didn't make the sun until the third day. Light as we know it is simply electromagnetic radiation with a visible wavelength. My question then is: why would it require our sun for God to produce light? Could an all-powerful God really not be capable of producing electromagnetic radiation at the frequency of 380–750 nm without first creating the big ball of burning gas that we know today as our "sun"?

Do you believe that every single person that claims to have experienced a legitimate healing is lying or delusional?
45 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat is right and wrong to those with no religion?
I really am curious as to your real opinions, so please don't bother to answer if you just want to "stir the pot".
We all know that Christians have the Bible, Jews have the Torah, Muslims have the Qur'an and so on... but to all of those who have no religion to provide them with a set of morals, what determines right and wrong?
Is there an absolute? If it is a matter of conscience, wouldn't there be no way of having absolutes? Does the absolute of right and wrong even matter? Why or why not?
If it's just a matter of its affect on others, is it possible to do wrong without causing harm to another? Why or why not?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoTheological question in regards to abortion...?
Serious question mostly directed at Christians:
#1. The scriptures say that we are all "born" into sin. Since aborted babies were never born, wouldn't they also not be guilty or under the curse of Adam's sin?
#2. With that pretext in mind, is there any reason, apart from "it's murder" to be against abortion?
#3. If you could know the future and knew your own child was going to become a god-hating satan worshipper, would you abort?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow "healthy" is it to deceive our kids into believing in Santa?
Many Christians don't like the idea of Santa, saying that it teaches them to believe in a lie and that when they stop believing, they won't know what to believe in anymore. Many atheists have compared faith in god to believing in Santa.
I personally believe it's a great idea to let the lie continue. It causes our children to come to a point in their lives that they must deduct and reason for themselves that they do not believe in this strange little fat man. They put the pieces of the puzzle together and say, "it's all fabricated". If God is real, then when they investigate Him for themselves, they'll find him... regardless of their crushing blow about Santa.
What do you think? Christians, Atheists, and everyone between?
26 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do atheists and agnostics...?
spend so much time fighting religion? I'm not just asking to be a smart-a**. I really am curious why so many atheists and agnostics are trying to convert me to not believe anything.
