  • Does the unemployment office also help you find a job?

I live in Maryland so the answer to this question may differ between states. I didn't qualify for unemployment but my father told me that the unemployment office has a branch that helps people find jobs. Is this true? Anyone have any information how to contact them or how to get more information about it? Google isn't helping...

  • Drank 6 beers and took one muscle relaxer... am I gonna die?

Okay so I did something really dumb I was drinking with a few friends and stopped in the middle to go take my muscle relaxer that I have prescribed for my lower pain back and then went on without even thinking about it. That was about an hour ago. I only drank six beers. I feel okay, but my hands are kind of numb. Am I going to die or go into a coma? This is kind of worrying me. Would drinking some caffeine help at all?

  • What do these names make you think of?

Not really looking for a rating, more like an opinion or what you instantly associate with these names:

    Georgia Madison

    Melissa Anne

    Bobbie Jo

    Martha Jean

  • What's some baby names you just don't like?

Some people don't like names that are too common, some people don't like names that are too unique. I've personally always hated "Aiden", just because it seemed to be a trend for so long and now I know at least five different Aiden's in my life. What about you?

  • Should my piercing still be hurting?

I got a conch piercing a few days ago, and it stopped hurting after a few hours, but now it's started up again and it literally won't stop. It's not a bad pain, it's not bothering me or keeping me from doing anything, but I'm worried it could already be infected. It's not red or pussing and I've been cleaning it with a washcloth and warm water plus the salt solution they gave me, but it just won't stop throbbing slightly. Is this normal? Should I just take a few painkillers and stop being paranoid?

  • How much did tickets cost for the first New York Comic Con?

Hey, I'm doing a little research on the new york comic con, and wiki says it started in 2007. But I can't find anything that tells me how much it cost to get in that first year? Does anyone know?

  • Trying to book an event at a hotel; had a question about the attrition clause?

We've narrowed down the options to two hotels to book our event at (which will be a fandom convention by the way) and one of them offered to give us a special deal on attrition. They said that whatever percentage of rooms that were reserved but not booked, we would not be held financially responsible for. The OTHER hotel option, when told about this, told us this:

"Just because there is no attrition clause in your contract would not mean that a hotel could not sue you for damages, if the event attendance was dismal. What it would mean is that this would take longer to litigate because the court would have to access what damages the hotel suffered versus having an agreed upon percentage in the contract."

So, long story short, which hotel is correct? Should we trust the first one when they say we wouldn't be responsible for rooms that aren't booked during our event or not?

  • Where can i find free or cheap legal advice?

I'm looking to ask just a few quick questions to someone with legal experience in the hotel business, but don't have a lot of money to pay for a consultation. Anyone know where I can just meet with someone quickly or an organization that will help me out on a sliding scale?

  • gastrointestinal problems and now a mouth sore?

okay so I had a strange problem for about a week and a half: I felt like there was an excess of gas in my upper chest, like I had something blocking it, and could even feel an obstruction when I swallowed. I burped constantly and it was usually painful. My mother said it was probably a gallbladder reaction to something, and to take some tums and drink plenty of water and eat some fruit. I did all this and it eventually went away, very slowly. But now that it's gone, I have this really sore to the touch inflammation on the back of my gums near my molar.

I'm wondering if the two could be related?? Also, does anyone know what the hell that gas could have been and what to do for a painful mouth sore that hurts when you swallow and eat?

  • Tooth fell right out! What to do!?

My husband has had dental problems for a loooong while, but we haven't had the insurance or the money to get them taken care of. We recently used our taxes to do some work to them, but the dentist said he'd need to come back within a few months. (My husband has extensive cavities.)

Tonight he was brushing his teeth and one of his top teeth just fell out! He said there was no pain before or after and he still doesn't feel anything. It's not bleeding anymore, only bled for a minute, but I'm not sure what to do. We literally don't have the money to go to the dentist and the emergency room seems out of place since this doesn't seem like a real emergency? I don't know.

I looked at it, it looks clean, just a hole in his gum where the tooth used to be. I'm having him try to hold a piece of cotton against the area while he sleeps to prevent infection...? Help?

  • could this be a blood clot?

I'm an obese woman, over 300 pounds, 26 years old.

I'm on my feet a lot though, 5 to 6 hours straight at night.

tonight when I came home from work and put my feet up, my left calf started to tingle and get tight a little, like it was loosing circulation.

About a half hour later it's still going on, after a brief massage and walking on it a little.

Could this be the sign of a blood clot?

My skin isn't any more tender in that area than it usually is, doesn't look red or swollen...

It's not really painful, just feels tight and weird...

As far as I know, my family doesn't have a history of clots.

    I don't have diabetes.

  • Should I call poison control?

My 8 month old got a hold of a tube of diaper rash cream and I found her chewing on the bottom of it. At first I was relieved but then I saw a bit of white stuff at the side of her mouth.

So basically she might have gotten some diaper rash cream in her mouth.

How dangerous is this? Should I call poison control?

  • Strange napping schedule?? Worried!?

My 7 and a half month old has changed her nap schedule in the last week.

She usually took 3 naps a day and slept 9 to 10 hours at night.

Now she's still sleeping the same hours at night, but she's sleeping more often during the day!

She'll need a nap about an hour or two after waking up, then awake for an hour or two, then needs another nap, then awake for another few hours, then another nap, then awake for another hour then another nap...

They're short naps, but very frequent! Up to 5 naps a day! But it isn't affecting her sleep at night..

Could something be wrong with her?

  • When did your baby give up their pacifier?

My daughter is 7 and a half months and threw away her pacifier gradually starting about about 6 months. Now she only needs it when she's very VERY distressed about something.

Now she sucks her thumb! I'm very grateful that she's learned how to self soothe, but I'm a little worried about her teeth too... I know that's SO cliche and I'm sure you guys get SO many questions about this but...

When did your children give up their pacifier and, if so, did they use their thumb instead and, IF SO, when did they stop sucking their thumb?

  • What does "godmother" mean to you?

When my best friend's first child was born, I was named as "godmother". I didn't really know anything about being one, except for the fact that I was going to be there for my friend and help her through her first child. I helped babysit, I watched him grow... Basically I was good friend.

I married a Catholic, and when we wanted to name that same friend and her husband as godparents we had to go through our church to have them officially named. We had to take a class beforehand and found out that the official role of a god parent is to help instruct the child in the way of the catholic church! Now my friend and her husband are excellent people but they probably won't be following that role down to it's traditional meaning.

So what does "Godparent" mean to you? Did you assign godparents to your children? Does anyone have any evidence or information on the idea that godparents get custody of the children if both parents die? Is this true?

  • Can Social Services take my child away for having a dirty apartment?

This is kind of embarrassing just to ask, but it's been bugging me for the entire easter weekend and it's keeping me up past my bedtime.

    Here's the story.

My grandmother in law came over last week and caught me on a very bad day. The living room was a disaster area, there were clothes on the couch, toys on the floor, dishes on the table and the highchair was still in the middle of the room because I had just gotten done feeding my 7 month old. (I have only one child.)

Her bedroom was a mess; clothes on the floor, a general cluttered look, diaper pail full and most likely stinking, her mattress pad had a yellow stain on it, but I never remembered her ever peeing on it once so I'm really not sure what that stain was...

There were dirty dishes in the sink, the cat box needed to be changed...

So she doesn't say anything to me but tells my husband when he came to visit on Good Friday that Social Services can take your kids away for that sort of thing. I don't have rodents or roaches or mold. I do a load of dishes everyday and try to keep up with the vacuuming and cat box. The cat doesn't pee or poo anywhere in the house except there. Most days my apartment looks great but she really did catch me at a bad time.

It's just been haunting me, what she said! She's really been nothing but a pain in my butt ever since we got married. So anyone here know just how messy your house has to be to get social services involved?

  • What food(s) do your babies hate?

Mine is 7 months old and can't STAND bananas. Not pureed, not mashed... We let her try a piece of banana and she spit it out. We bought her little Gerbers "puffs" in strawberry banana flavor, and she got a few in her mouth but promptly spit them back out again.

That face she makes is so cute! Like, "OMG what the heck are you trying to poison me?!"

  • Mommies what do you think..?

What do you think of Stay at Home Dads? Many moms here are probably SAHM's, but what would you think about a couple where the roles were reversed?

My husband and I have talked about this and, when I finally get my degree and a good enough job to support both of us (or that allows my husband to find a small part time job on the side), we agreed he could become the primary caretaker of our daughter and any other children we have by then.

But when we bring up our future plans with any of our family or friends we receive nothing but disgusted, confused, or shocked looks and comments. My one friend actually said that if my husband stayed home with our child he would be "lazy" and it was wrong to let a man "life off" a woman's income.

    What do you think?

  • What's the best way to.....?

Write or draw something intricate on a cake, when on a budget?

I've got 10 dollars, and I'll be going to a supermarket to pick up the ingredients and make the cake from scratch. But I'd like to write not only "HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUSS", but also draw two six sided die, with the two numbers of his age showing on them.

Anyone have tips for doing this, like brand names of which icing or gel is easy to write with, or doesn't melt easily?

  • Could this be a money scam?

    Link:

    http://www.bethsmoney.com/2/index.php?t202id=33703...

I've been so down on my luck lately with money I'm actually considering trying this out. Apparently it only costs for the shipping and handling of the instruction booklet. Anyone ever try this, or heard of it, and what are the things I should look out for in an internet scam?
