  • What do you think about the Islamic story of prophet Noah(pbuh)?

According to the Islamic story of Noah, just the area that Noah lived was flooded and not the entire world. Also He did not take every single animal on his ark, only his domesticated ones. In the Quran it says Noah's ark came to rest on mount Judi which is in modern day Turkey. So it is believed the flood happened in what is now the dead sea, according to Islam.

We have now found out that the dead sea used to be smaller and a flood caused it to become bigger. Also that an advanced civilisation was destroyed by the flood:

Slightly off topic but just wanted to mention that Muslims actually have 4 holy books. The Quran, Tawrat(Torah) revealed to Moses, Injil(Gospel) revealed to Jesus, and Zabur revealed to David. However the original version has been lost and they have been changed by man, except for the Quran. There are over 5000 different versions of the bible. In the Quran it says that God has decided to protect the Quran. It has been 1400 years and there is still only one version of the Quran.

  • Atheists what do you think of this?

The best answer to this question: http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=200...

It is too long to post it all, here is part of the answer:

In the past thirty five years, scientists have been stunned to discover that the universe is finely tuned to an incomprehensible precision to support life. For many scientist, this points in a very compelling way toward the existence of an Intelligent Designer. Here are some of the data gathered by scientists, both Christians and non-Christians, that point toward complexity and orderedness at the beginning of the universe: Stephen Hawkins has calculated that if the rate of the universe's expansion one second after the Big Bang had been smaller by even one part in a hundred thousand million million, the universe would have collapsed into a fireball. British physicist P.C.W. Davies has concluded that the odds against the initial conditions being suitable for the formation of stars, which are necessary for planets and thus life, is a one followed by at least a thousand billion billion zeros. Davies also estimated that if the strength of gravity were changed by only one part in 10^100, life could never have developed. For comparison, there are only 10^80 atoms in the entire known universe. There are about fifty constants and quantities. For example, the amount of usable energy in the universe, the difference in mass between protons and neutrons, the proportion of matter to antimatter. That must be balanced to a mathematically infinitesimal degree for any life to be possible. For organic life to exist, the fundamental regularities and constants of physics must all have values that together fall into an extremely narrow range.

The probability of this perfect calibration happening by chance is so tiny as to be statistically negligible. Collins puts it well: "When you look from the perspective of a scientist at the universe, it looks as if it knew we were coming. There are fifteen constants...that have precise values. If any of those constants was off by even one part in a million, or in some cases, by one part in a million million, the universe could not have been able to coalesce, there would have been no galaxy, stars, planets or people." Some have said that it is as if there were a large number of dials that all had to be tuned to within extremely narrow limits, and they were. It seem extremely unlikely that this would happen by chance. Stephen Hawkins concludes: "The odds against the Big Bang are enormous. I think there are clearly religious implications." Elsewhere he says, "It would be very difficult to explain why the universe would have begun in just this way except as the act of a God who intended to create beings like us."

Astronomers are discovering a whole new dimension of evidence that suggests this astounding world was created, in part, so we could have the adventure of exploring it. As astronomer Guillermo Gonzalez and science philosopher Jay Wesley Richards, who wrote the book "The Privileged Planet," elaborates. Total eclipse of the sun, which yield a treasure trove of scientific data, can only be viewed from one place in the solar system where there are intelligent beings to view them. Also, earth's location away from galaxy's center and in the flat plane of the disk provides a particularly privileged vantage point for observing both nearby and distant stars. Another example, earth provides an excellent position to detect the cosmic background radiation, which is critically important because it contains invaluable information about the properties of the universe when it was very young. Because our moon is the right size and distance to stabilize Earth's tilt, it helps preserve the deep snow deposits in our polar regions, from which scientist can determine the history of snowfall, temperatures, winds, and the amount of volcanic dust, methane, and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The findings of scientists that our world appears to be designed for discovery have added a compelling new dimension to the evidence for a Creator. And, frankly, their analysis makes sense. The finely tuned universe can compel only one reasonable conclusion, a supernatural agent must be responsible for it.

  • Why do people only pray when they need something?

Say you are in a life threatening situation(you're on a plane that is about to the crash to the ground) lets face it everyone would pray to God even the atheists. So why do people do it? Is it because deep down we know God exists and we only ask for help when we really want something.

I watched a lot of videos of atheists who converted to Islam. A lot of them prayed when they were in need like their new born child being unhealthy and they started praying etc

  • Why do people say music is haram?

When you say music is haram you are implying that all types of music is haram. But music that promotes Islam and sends out a good message is not haram. Music which is about money, girls, anger and hatred is haram. Since those types of songs takes your mind away from reality and away from Allah swt and they put imaginary thoughts into your head giving you false feelings of greatness.

I think instead we should say some types of music is haram instead of just saying music is haram. What do you think?

  • Why are some muslims so stupid and call shias kaffir?

They have no knowledge about Islam or the difference between sunni and shia and they just listen to some wahabi preacher telling them lies. Here are some common misconceptions:

Misconception #1: Shias have a different Quran. They add another 10 chapters to the original Quran.

Response: Not true. I have checked many times Quran kept in Shia homes and mosques. I still find it the same as the original Quran. More recently, I took care of an Iranian lady patient hospitalized here. I saw a copy of the Quran by her side. I borrowed it from her and browsed through cover to cover. In Arabic it was the same as our Quran. Of course, since I did not know the Persian language, I can't say much about the translation. It is a sin to even say that the Quran can be changed or added to by Shia when it is protected by God.

Misconception #2: Some Shia consider Ali as God.

Response: Not true. It is disbelief to even think of such a thing. During the time of Ali, some pagan groups called Gholat did consider Ali as Lord. When he found out, they were burned to death. Alawis of Syria may have a similar belief, but they are non-Muslims, neither Shia nor Sunni.

Misconception #3: Shias have different declarations of faith and they add to the call to prescribed prayer.

Response: The declaration to become a Muslim, as administered to non-Muslims, is the same. Some Shia add to themselves, "Ali is a friend of God (PBUH) or Ali is a spiritual leader of God," after the call to prescribed prayer, but not as part of the call to prescribed prayer.

Misconception #4: Shias do not perform sunnah prayers. Sunnah prayers are non obligatory prayers performed by Prophet Muhammad.(p)

Response: Shia do perform non-obligatory prayers, 36 cycles per day in total, but call it nawafil and not sunnah.

Misconception #5: Some Shia believe that Angel Gabriel made a mistake and prophet hood was meant for Ali and not Muhammad (p)).

Response: Not true. No Shia thinks of such false claims. "Only demented minds think of such questions."

Misconception #6: Shias slander and ridicule the first three caliphs (Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman) and Prophet Muhammad's wife, Ayisha.

Response: Shia consider the first three caliphs as great companions and good Muslim administrators, but not spiritual leaders (imams). Imam Jafar Sadiq, whose mother and grandmother came from the line of Abu Bakr, said of Abu Bakr, "He gave me birth twice." Ayisha is respected by Shias as the "Mother of Believers," as Ali respected her when he sent her back from Basra to Medina after the Battle of the Camel. If some Shia do slander the three caliphs and Ayisha, they do it out of ignorance and should ask God's forgiveness.

Misconception # 7: Shias combine all five prayers into one prayer in the evening.

Response: Not true. In Shia mosques, whether in Iran or the USA, all five daily prayers are performed. Some working Shia do combine noon and afternoon and evening and night, but Shia scholars recommend performing them separately. Such combinations may not be ideal, but better than not praying at all. How can a Sunni who does not pray at all be better than a Shia who combines prayers?

Misconception # 8: Shias do not pay zakat (poor-due).

Response: Not true. They not only pay 2.5% left over from savings as zakat, but also an additional 20% as khums or general charity. However, they prefer to pay directly to the needy rather than corrupt Sunni government.

Misconception #9: Shias practice temporary marriages (mutah).

Response: Mutah (temporary marriages) was allowed during the time of Prophet Muhammad (P). Later on Caliph Umar prohibited it due to social reasons as the Islamic world was rapidly expanding. Shias discourage mutah but do not consider it prohibited. Some do abuse this.

Misconception #10: They consider Imams infallible and above the prophets.

Response: Not true. All prophets are born Prophet but as mentioned in Quran about Abraham that after passing the test, a prophet becomes a leader (Imam). Imams are carriers of the message of Islam. Shias consider Ali only as an Imam, but Muhammad (p) is the Prophet (nabi), Messenger (rasul) and leader (imam).

  • Why do atheists believe life began by chance?

Humans have a brain with the capacity to learn something new every second for the next 3million years. We can't even make a fly let alone a human. If we can't make it how on earth do you believe life formed from sheer chance from amino acids forming and then cells etc etc. It is so stupid it is unbelievable. The probability is so astronomical you might as well say it is impossible.

It is so laughable only muslims and fellow creationists can see your stupidity. Islam says In order to know God you must first know yourself.

  • Does atheism destroy society?

The Uk has one of the highest percentage of atheists compared to its population. There was a story recently which showed that there are a million children in the UK without a father http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/education-22820829

Islam says to not have premarital sex. This is because when you marry someone you are making a promise to God that you will be there for one another through thick and thin and it is the responsibility of the man to provide for his wife and children.

If people followed Islam then this problem won't exist. But this is just the start of the problem. Without a fatherly figure you won't be able to discipline the child because mothers are too kind and do not have the toughness of a father. I think in the next couple if years things are going to become very bad. Crime is going to increase, lots of kids joining gangs and having no morality.

  • Are atheists devil worshippers?

They say that if you go against god then you take sides with the devil. Notice how all the atheists only mock and hate on God. You never see them blame the devil for anything. They claim to not believe in God and then dedicate so much of their time in trying to make other people not believe in him. They obviously do it unintentionally because the devil has blinded them and just gives them false promises. May God help and guide them all.

  • Does mans path lead to a hopeless end?

I'm Islam there is a saying that mans path leads to a hopeless end and gods path leads to endless hope. If you look at the developed countries, people have everything but you will never see them happy. You can see the stress of life on their face and you hardly see anyone smile. People need alcohols dn drugs to have a good time in the developed countries. But is it really happiness, to make yourself lose conciousness of reality and to take your mind elsewhere?

I visited a third world country, the kids had absolutely nothing yet they always had a smile on their face and were always happy.

  • Which do you find more logical?

In Islam God is not a person(unlike Christianity) or an object or animal to worship(Buddhism and Hinduism). Islam says there have been 124,000 prophets since the start of humanity all with the same message to worship the one God but people ovelllr time forgot their message and started worshipping people and objects as god. So maybe Buddha and the Hindu gods were once prophets. In Islam God is omnipotent he can create a rock that is too heavy to lift and still be able to lift it. He has no beginning and no end and is beyond our level of understanding.

So now you know the Islamic belief of God which of the two seems more logical.

Belief that God created everything and this life is a test.

Or the universe formed for no apparent reason. Randomly the universe came into existence and life just formed randomly and from a single cell males and females evolved and we are just a bunch of atoms just like non living material, there is nothing that makes us alive like a soul etc. the electromagnetic field protecting the earth from solar flares is just there by shear chance and for no apparent reason. The formation of the water cycle giving us fresh water to drink was by shear chance and for no apparent reason etc.

  • What do you think about the Quran, on why some people don't believe in god and how atheists behave?

    Alif, Lam, Meem. - 2:1

This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah - 2:2

Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them, - 2:3

And who believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]. - 2:4

Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful. - 2:5

Indeed, those who disbelieve - it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe. 2:6

Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil. And for them is a great punishment. 2:7

(Every person has freewill and can choose to believe in god. But atheists don't want to believe in god and only search for reasons not to believe in him. God then makes it harder for atheists to believe in him.)

And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allah and the Last Day," but they are not believers. - 2:8

They [think to] deceive Allah and those who believe, but they deceive not except themselves and perceive [it] not. - 2:9

The Quran predicts how atheists behave and think just one of the many miracles of the Quran. Read it with an open mind and heart and think about what it says.

  • Why do atheists come to the religion and spirituality section?

All there is to atheism is lack of belief in god. So why do you guys come here to mock religion and religious people?

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. - Albert Einstein

WHO BELIEVE IN THE UNSEEN, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them. Quran 2:3

Indeed, those who disbelieve - it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe. Quran 2:6

They [think to] deceive Allah and those who believe, but they deceive not except themselves and perceive [it] not. - Quran 2:9

Science is independent of religion and atheism. Definition of science:

systematic knowledge of the PHYSICAL or MATERIAL WORLD gained through observation and experimentation.

So why do you guys expect religion to proof god to you scientifically? Good luck to science answering why you are here on this planet before your lifetime. (Which isn't sciences purpose)

  • Why are so many people easily brainwashed by the media?

For example a lot of people think jihad means holy war. Where infact jihad means The spiritual struggle within oneself. It is a requirement for all muslims. Someone saying something incorrect about Islam and you are defending your religion and speaking the truth, that is jihad. Spreading knowledge about Islam that is jihad. Defending yourself from someone attacking you is jihad. ONLY DEFENDING! The term holy war is actually something else in arabic not jihad.

Many people also think islamist means islam terrorists or extremists. Where infact islamist means a scholar who is knowledgeable in Islamic studies.

Many people claim that the Quran teaches violence. I have read it and dont understand where you are getting this information from. Taking wrongly translated quotes and out of context from random websites does not mean you have read the Quran. How many of you can say hands on your heart you have read the Quran from start to finish?

  • Can we get rid of poverty?

One of the pillars of Islam is to give charity, 2.5% of your yearly income to the poor. If everyone did that and there was no corruption do you think there would be no poor people in the world? And btw more than 50% of all the wealth on the planet are in the hands of less than 1% of the world population. And interest is not allowed in Islam. Do you think we would be in an economic mess right now if banks couldnt charge interest? Since the government borrows money from banks and then has to pay it back to them with interest increasing debt further. Think about it.
