  • How do you pronounce Doraemon?

Like the little blue cat without ears? I never watched it so I always assumed it sounded kind of like "doh-die-moan" in Japanese. But now that I think of it that sounds a little ridiculous when I say it out loud. How to you actually say his name? Thank you!

  • How to keep ball python eggs safe during travel?

It would be nice to get this info ASAP! I may need to travel with ball python eggs for a few hours (in a car that isn't bumpy) until I reach home where I can properly incubate them. Snake eggs can be lost to failure to keep constant temperature. My initial plan was to store these eggs in a container with vermiculite until I reached my destination. I need to know a way to safely heat them to 85-89° F. I can place a heat pack (like those used when shipping hatchlings) but was wondering if this would be effective. The container will be in my lap while someone else drives to reduce shock and keep the eggs from bumping. Thank you so much!

  • How much would you pay for snake eggs?

Recently, I came across a listing online in my area. A breeder is looking to rehome their entire ball python collection, including racks and clutches. They said to suggest a price and they would accept offers within reason.

I am very interested in these clutches, however snake eggs are not typically sold like chicken, quail, and duck eggs for hatching. While there are some fancy morph parents to the eggs, there are obviously no guarantees that they'll hatch to look like this. There are also no guarantees that all of them will hatch. I can incubate them and provide ideal humidity, avoid turning them over, and keep a watchful eye on the eggs, but you never know with snakes. (I have been looking for snake hatching eggs for awhile. I would love to take them so much. I definitely want them.) I have the equipment and space for the babies, and am prepared for situations regarding homes for hatchlings. I just want to know a good price for eggs! :)

That being said, what offer would you make on the eggs? Please and thank you, I appreciate your opinion.

  • What is the difference between a fire cornsnake and a bloodred cornsnake?

They look very similar. I'm not a snake breeder and just a little confused. I know a fire is Amel diffused, so what does that make a bloodred? Thank you! ^ ^

  • What makes a series like Pokémon successful?

I guess you could say the "battling/dueling monster" genre. Now, over the years there's been dozens of attempts of creating shows and video games with this plot...some successful and some short lived. Off the top of my head, I can name a few successes in the genre like Pokémon, Digimon, Yu-gi-oh, and even Bakugan. But there have been a lot more with a similar idea. Some of these I know little about, others I haven't seen since I was like five, but:

    Zatch Bell

    Monster Rancher

    Dinosaur King

    Medabots

    Bdaman

    Fighting Foodons

    Beyblade

And Magi Nation ( a show my little bro watched that was...just...awful.)

Anywho, what are the attributes of these many different series that decides whether or not they'll last? What is it about Pokémon, Digimon, and Yu-gi-oh that makes them greater? How did they grow such a big fandom? (And please no arguing over which is better!) Why does Pokémon have the largest following out of them all, even though it isn't necessarily the oldest?

    Thanks ^ ^

  • What reptiles can be housed with Aloe Vera?

I have a tank containing a mid-sized aloe vera plant that looks like it will produce pups soon. The pups will probably stay in that terrarium to expand my aloe collection or will be given as gifts to friends. Right now I am using potting soil. I was curious if I could add in any snakes or lizards (Not wild caught. I don't want a potential carrier of mites and parasites around my other reptiles.) I could easily put a layer of another bedding overtop of the soil if needed. I suppose I could use reptile carpet and just cut a spot out for the aloe, too. And, seeing as how aloe is a pretty hardy plant, I could adjust the humidity accordingly and add heat. So basically, I think it would be beautiful to build a habitat around my plants. What could I house with it safely (that won't try to eat it and get sick)? Could green anoles work?

  • Is my cornsnake undersized for his age?

I got him a few weeks back from a breeder who said he was a year old. I asked her numerous questions before buying, including how often she fed him. I asked if he was being fed on a weekly bases and she paused then said, "Yes." although he looks like the size of a yearling being fed every 10 days. He is still on pinkie mice and I have been feeding him every 6-7 days. I am concerned because he is barely 15 inches long whereas I hear most yearlings are about 25, some even three feet long. Should I start feeding him every 5 days? I don't believe in power feeding but feel he should be at least on fuzzies at this age but he is just too small. How much should he weigh at one year? Thank you! :)

  • Are there any Webkinz plushes that are rare or worth much?

I know this is kinda crazy and random, but do any of you remember Webkinz? As in the stuffed animals that unlocked virtual pets online? I haven't played it since I was about 10 years old and have completely lost track. But I just found out that they are still making Webkinz and even have a grumpy cat one!

The thing is I know I have well over 20 or 30 of the darn things in my closet. As far as I know, all are brand new and have tags except for:

    Chihuahua

    Persian cat

    Black horse

    Black cat

    Lion

    Lioness

    Beagle

    Cow

    Rain deer

And maybe a few more that I can't remember. But I have a lot of new ones including (can't remember them all):

    Husky

    Kangaroo

    Pelican

    Bullfrog

    Ferret

    Koala

So are there any collectable Webkinz that'll fetch at least $20? Thanks! ^ ^

  • Are Capybaras legal anywhere in the United States, with or without permits?

I don't want one, so please don't rant about how stupid it is to keep exotics as pets. I'm curious about it, that's all. Lots of people have them, so I'm sure there's at least a couple of states that allow you to have one. If so, then where? And is a permit required?

  • The right breed of dog for someone like me?

I'm in school right now, so I live with my parents, brother, and pets. I've had my fair share of animals and volunteer at our animal shelter, so I have canine experience. Once I'm finished with college I will end up moving. My dog, an old Great Dane (my favorite breed) will pass by then. My mom will keep her dachshund with her. I'm trying to fit the puzzle pieces together and find a good breed for me when it's time to adopt...

These breeds are out of the question!:

German Shepard (I've never liked them), Husky (too loud and active), Border collie (too active), Pitt bull (I don't hate them, I just think don't they're right for me), small purse dogs like Chihuahuas, Shih Tzus, Maltese, etc. , and very large dogs. I will no longer have the space for one that is huge or super active.

    ---

I'm looking for a dog that:

Will be a protection and companion dog.

    Will be friendly towards me.

Is a good size, 50lbs-80lbs seems best. My 150lb dane would be far too big.

Who's coat requires easy maintenance. I can brush now and then but that's it.

Will do well with just me in the house, no other dogs. (Just snakes that are out of reach) Maybe just a guest every now and then.

Has few major health issues, (back, joint, bloat, etc.)

Can withstand a little sun/cold when it has to go outside.

Who only needs walks and maybe a yard to play in. I'm medium-active.

Won't bark nonstop (unless, of course, there's an intruder or something strange outside)

    Thanks a million!!!

  • What happens when you breed a het corn?

I was wondering how the genetics work with a het in corn snakes. I understand that het means the corn carries that specific gene, but doesn't look like it. So, for examples, does that mean when you breed a normal het snow with a normal, it's like breeding a snow to a normal? Or when you breed a normal het fire to a charcoal, is that like breeding a fire to a charcoal?

If not, what are the probabilities of the het parent passing it's genes to the offspring? Thanks :)

  • Is it alright to line a reptile cage with fleece like you would a Guinea pig, hamster, rat, or hedge hog cage?

I had this idea dawn across me, and I was just wondering if it would be safe for my reptile friends:)

So I'm pretty handy at sewing. I also have pet snakes and have had pet rodents in the past. Now, just in case you're wondering, it's becoming pretty common that pet owners replace bedding all together with a layer or two of fleece for their small animals. It's warm, washible, reusable, relatively cheap, and widely available. And the fleece can be layered to allow pets to hide underneath as if they're burrowing.

Now, I know it's even more common that reptile owners replace bedding with "reptile carpet", which is essentially a big piece of felt. It's nice because it's washible and reusable, and the reptile can't swallow it while they're eating. But it isn't very pliable, and so you have to cut it EXACTLY to size or else it'll ripple and slide. I've also seen plenty of times that people put fleece-like fabrics in lizard enclosures in the form of sacks and hammocks for the pets to lounge in.

Not only this, but seeing how often reptiles "go" compared to rodents, I can't imagine it being that hard to clean. You could even buy waterproof fleece like they use in clothing.

My question is, under the assumption that it's nice quality fleece with a compatible thickness, can I use it to line a snake's enclosure? It's soft and non abrasive, and I figured it's safer than shavings because they can't swallow it. Thanks ^ ^

  • Help training a quagsire in Pokémon Y?

And with making a move set, please? My little bro and I are having a random Pokémon battle contest. We each got an egg through trade and whatever hatched out was the only Pokémon we can train and use to battle one another. His hatched into a rotom, but will be unable to change its form so it'll stay ghost/electric.

Mine hatched to be a male wooper:

Lv.1 (I'll level it up obviously)

    Damp ability

Naughty nature, often lost in thought

    HP 12

    Atk 6

    Def 6

    Sp. Atk 5

    Sp. Def 4

    Speed 5

Sorry I'm new to IVs but I'm experienced with EVs. I usually work with speed and special attackers so I have never used quagsire. Could some on help me out on a moveset and EVs? Thanks ^ ^

  • How long would it take to partially domesticate a big cat (species)?

I'm not asking about one individual animal, but just a species in general. Lions are the first to come to mind.

Now, I understand that a social canine is far easier to deal with than a mighty big cat. But I'm just bringing up dogs as examples.

So, foxes have been bred to nicer foxes and so on to produce domestic foxes, and their genes cause them to slowly gain the characteristics of a dog. And then you have fennec foxes...they're also bred in captivity. They started off wild and now are "partially" domesticated. They are less skittish around humans than their wild cousins and can even be litter box trained, but they still look like a fox.

Under the assumption that breeders gathered a handful of lions--whether they be wild or rescues--and bred the most docile of these lions together for some generations, how long would it take for the lion to become somewhat domestic? Not as in just a wild animal that you slap a collar on and call a pet. That's just mean and stupid. But an animal (species) that has lost it's fear of humans and sees them as one of their own...like your dog?

  • Want to make a kandi bracelet for my friend but don't know if I should?

So my friend is into kandi, and makes a whole lot of it. While I like the idea of it and I really enjoy techno, I've never been to a rave and don't consider myself a kandi kid like her. But I really wanted to learn how to make it so I could give it to friends who ARE into that stuff. The problem is I know kandi has a special meaning to it...so would it be wrong for someone like me to make it for this purpose?

If not, what's the best way to learn how to make kandi? I want to make the geeky kind, full of Pokémon and Zelda, etc. sprites. Thanks ^ ^

  • Need help caring for a rat with a possible respiratory infection?

If you haven't already, please read my last question for details:

    /question/index;_ylt=Ah9r...

I have a small female feeder rat, it is not a pet. It is to be fed to my pet boa. However, I still am concerned for the rat's health. They are intelligent animals, either way, so I feel it necessary to treat it with respect. But afterall, it won't be here for more than three weeks at the most. So I'd appreciate it if you are understanding when I say I WILL NOT take this animal to the vet!

Anywho! I suspect this rat has respiratory problems. I will be moving her into a clean 10 gallon tank for the time being. This way she can be away from the other feeders and I can keep a close

eye on her. Will she be fine on newspaper or paper towell bedding? I have aspen as well (for my snakes) but I assumed it be a little more hazardous to her because of potential dust. What does a rat like this need to be eating, anything special? Aside from ventilation and bedding, what are some other things to watch out for to ensure her health? I really appreciate it. I know it's just a feeder rat but it would be wrong to let it suffer. I have a deviated septum and feel a little sympathetic for its breathing problems, and would like to help it out. Thanks :)

  • What is wrong with my rat?

I bought some feeder rats from a reptile expo for my pet snake. I have two females and a male left and I've been keeping them in a large plastic tote outside (in a shed) and replaced the lid with some sort of metal mesh top for better ventilation. I think they were just being fed dog food by the breeder. I'm using clean hay (like the use to feed animals) as bedding and feeding them scraps, everything from multi grain bread to veggies and water them daily, and also throw in tomatoes to help keep them hydrated.

But about three days ago one female's eye looked weird so I got her out and cleaned it with cool water and put neosporin around her eye. It looked like just dried blood but it washed out and their was no sign of injury. But her eye looked normal until the next day when it looked like that again, so I cleaned it. She has no bite/scratch marks and the eye itself doesn't look infected. She also sneezes a bit, and none of the other rats have any of these problems. They don't appear to be fighting, either. Other than sneezing (can rats get asthma?) and the eye, she looks normal. What's wrong with my rat? Will she be safe to feed to my snake, and what do I do to fix her up? Thanks! I'm an experienced snake owner but normally work with frozen so I don't have too much experience with rats. But I've had pet mice...are they kinda the same?

  • When to text a guy?

I'm a highschool girl and met him last year (maybe the year before?) at this summer camp I work at. Before he was just that. Another worker/volenteer. But this is the first year we really got to know eachother and it turns out he's pretty amazing. He usually works there every summer, too, but camp JUST ended for this year a few days ago. He's a tiny bit younger than me but a real sweetheart, and has a lot in common. We exchanged numbers as well. The problem is he's the shy type, and I know that most shy guys would rather someone text them first or else they never talk to the person again. When should I text him and how? Thank you so much! I appreciate the advice.
