  • What to do with an orphaned goat?

I recently got a baby goat, as of right now he is 10 hours old. His mom passed away (cyote got her) and now we have him here on a heating pad. We have been giving him goats milk mixed with a little colostrum powder, really whenever he asks for it. He will suck on our fingers and sometimes the bottle too. in the last hour he ate 20 ml of the mix, and now hes sleeping. He had a brother, but the brother passed away a couple hours ago and we were doing this same thing... any help? i dont want this one to die.

  • Real or fake amethyst and diamond?

I recently got a necklace as a gift from my bf ( I love it) however my mom is just curious if its real or not... It's a pure stone, and above it are four diamondish stones, and above that two bands of opal/mother of pearl inlay. It is set in 925 solid silver. (I have allergies to a lot of other metals and he made sure it was 925, and it has the stamp). It doesn't change any feeling if its real or fake, my mom is just really curious about it.

  • What did my horse do and why? Urgent!!! ?

So It's night time and I'm sitting on my horse in her stall. No halter, rope, or anything. She started making this low grunting/bicker noise, and biting her side. I thought she was itchy so I scratched it and she stopped. This continued on and off for around a half hour and then she shockingly reared straight up! Pawing the air an everything! I know "she's a horse... Horses rear". Well not her. She has NEVER reared with anyone. So I clings onto her neck, and rode it out until she stumbled backward and I slid off. After I slid off I went to her shoulder and held her head and she mini reared. After she stopped the grunting and everything. So what did she do ( in her terms, obviously I know WHAT she did)? And why? Why now after 13 years has she chosen to rear?

  • How can I get my horse into water?

I have a 13 year old arabian mare, and she HATES water. Correction.. anything moist. wet sand, a puddle, a pee spot, mud.. you get the picture. well I have been working with her in mud and puddles and she is getting better, and today we took the horses to a stream and she flipped out. she would not get within 3 feet of the water. at all. I am going into eventing with her, and it requires you to go through water, so how do I get her to go in willingly? Ive tried using a dressage crop (a lot), leading her, bribing her with cookies, everything! and still nothing!!

  • HELP!! LOST SNAKE!! KENYAN SAND BOA!!?

I have a little (not even 11" long) baby kenyan sand boa. currently she is out and loose in my home missing. I have no idea how it happened. We have a secure one foot tall tank with sliding lid that is always closed with a lamp on top, and the last time she was out was the other night when we took her into the kitchen to be fed. We put her in a cardboard box to eat, then i put her back in her tank. we do this every time. this time was no different. she was safe in her tank the last time I saw her.

Now my mom thinks i took her out to handle her and she got loose then. thats impossible. i didnt take her out since we fed her, and mom even saw her in her tank yesterday.

  • when is the safest time for unprotected sex?

I know what you're going to say.. "NEVER!". Well accidents do happen and people do get carried away, so please don't judge.

I had my period last sunday, and it lasted the usual week, and then started birth control this past sunday (exactly 1 week after my period started). During my period we did have sex (with a condom), then on monday night he stuck it in without one (only a few "pumps"... not for a long time at all) and then on tuesday (yesterday) we did it again and we forgot the condom however he didn't come but he said he was close.

So my question is was what I did safe? (NO JUDGING) And is there the possibility that I could be pregnant? and when would be the safest time for unprotected sex? I heard its when you're on your period and directly after... HELP!!!

  • How do i get my halters looking new?

I have a Weaver nylon halter in hunter green, and it is absolutely disgusting! I bought it specificaly for my horse, however my trainer used it on all of them. This made it dirty, nasty, and gross, and i have a grey mare, so it would leave dirt on her face (YUCK!). so i ended up buying her a purple halter (also by weaver) that i kept at home with me and took to her to use myself. I would love to have a backup halter in case the purple one gives way, so does anyone know how to get them looking new? or just very vibrant and clean? Ive heard about the washer and would that hurt the machine?

  • What is a good type of snake to get?

I am looking into getting either a gecko or a snake. Ive had leopard geckos in the past and they are very fun, however ive always loved chillin with my friends snake Gordo. I asked my mom if we could get one, and she said "as long as its small.. like the smallest snakes get." So im asking you What are the small types of snakes? what is their temperment like as pets, and i think the most important thing is if they are okay with being handled. I had the geckos when I was little, so other than that I am new to the reptile world (im a horse girl). Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

  • Would this qualify for shows??? bareback pad for jumping?

I have recently been diagnosed with a chronic hip problem, however i still wanted to find a way to ride. I found riding and jumping in a bareback pad relieves the pain it causes being in a saddle. i have been practicing my jumping while in my bareback pad, and we are doing very well. I show in the ETI (equestrian trails inc.) and AHASFV (arabian horse assiciation of the san fernando valley) show circuts, and I am wondering if i explain my situation, would I be allowed to show and jump in my bareback pad? Its the only way i can ride without any pain.

FOR YOU NAYSAYERS: my condition is rare, and it is either a sharp, pain shooting into my hip (i collapse to the ground from the pain) or im fine. there is no inbetween. sometimes even getting up from a chair is a five minute task. some say "just put up with it for shows" however smart people know that you practice in the tack you use for shows to jet comfy.. however i cant do that. also, when im in a saddle, my horse knows im in pain and refuses to do any jumping (she CAN jump in a saddle, she just takes care of me when im hurting). if anyone knows anything i would appreciate the help. Thanks!

  • What do i do now?? lost the guy, lost a friend... where do i start?

So i guess you may call me a homewrecker of sorts, but heres MY side. a nice guy started talking to me, and i knew he was in a relationship, but he still hinted towards other things ( calling me babe, hun, he said he loved me.. etc.). he told me his gf and him were done because she was cheating on him. I allowed that to slide, and one day of us just hangin out, we kissed. im not going to go into details on who made the first move because it does not matter and we both were into it, so were both guilty. however, later he tells his gf that i started it all ( i thought they broke up) and she was one of my friends, not really close, but still friends. I told him that if he wants anything more from me than a friendship somethings going to hae to change. So i lost my friend, lost the guy, who just so happened to be the only interesting guy in a year. am i destined to be forever alone?? i swear im no stuck up snob, i just feel guilty because his gf was emotional through all of this.

    please help!

  • Is there a reason for pulling the mane of a horse? Other than looks?

I know this may sound really silly to ask, but is there any purpose for pulling a horses mane? I know it's a whole lot shorter and personally I find it unattractive, but is there a real purpose? Other than looks?

  • advise on arabs in hunter classes?

I have an arabian mare who is an absolutely fantatic jumper. We have been working for 3 years on natural horsemanship, bridleless jumping, and of course, showjumping. However, the shows in my area require that you show both jumpers and hunters, and my horse is definately not a natural hunter. I wish to show her again, and ive been working on her head set and relaxation of her pace. so far its getting me just a toss of the head and a confused mare. im recently moved her from a full cheek snaffle to a broken/jointed low port myler full cheek. Any advise would help! thanks! :)

  • Will spaying my collie prevent her from blowing out her coat?

I have a 6 month old female rough collie. like lassie. we were thinking of breeding her and now were having second thoughts. we have to be quick because of her age. I heard non spayed females blow out thier full coat, and have to grow it back. we wouldnt want that to happen, and we were wondering if staying her would prevent that from happening. also any other collie info is greatly appreciated.

And for those meanies out there... we ARE responsible pet parents. my mom is a vet, and we have had all sorts of animals. we wouldnt breed her irisponsibly. And im not just concerned about her looks, we have allergies, and the less hair that falls out---the better. so please keep your negative comments to yourself. thank you!!!

  • how can i get collection from my horse inbetween jumps? Arabian Mare. Arab owners or breeders please read!?

i have a beautiful 15.2 hand arabian mare. she is my baby :) she is mainly trained in jumpers however she also has training up to level 3 in dressage. when im jumping her, she gets wayy to exited inbetween jumps and speeds up. its great for jumpers because its timed, however for hunters its bad. ive tried EVERYTHING! she is a beautiful jumper, just she needs to relax. no, i am not a pushy owner, SHE chose to jump. not me. it comes to her naturally. ive tried everything from using double reins ( trainers idea) to jumping in a dressage saddle (again, my trainer) up to having her fully stop if she goes too fast. im big on natural horsemanship, and so is she. i do not hit, yank, or hurt my horse. my trainer used to yank on her mouth to get her to collect... ive worked her out of it. we do a LOT of leg, and weight. ALSO: for you arabian horse owners.. she is a great grandaughter of Khemosabi. she also has Bask++, Aladdin, and Khechise. her father is Animazion. she is a very smart girl. just thought the arab people would appreciate it :) thank you so much!

  • I was wondering how to train my mare to have me ride her with just her mane?

I ride a grey arabian mare and she can walk, trot, canter, and jump 3 ft. with riding on "the wire". Im trying to get to the point where i dont even need the wire and can just use her mane. she is 12 years old, never lazy, and is perfect. no rearing, bucking, or kicking.
