I am a physics major in college and I am boarder line obsessed with theoretical physics. I was born in 1990, I am kind of young but I do not see how that is of much importance. I am a Christan, technically, but my personal beliefs differ greatly from any other Christan I have met as of the writing of this. I am not sure what else to put into this so i think i will end it with my favorite quote which I had tattooed onto my left for arm. "I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes" J.D. Salinger's Catcher in the Rye

  • What are some good towns near Boston?

I currently live in Oklahoma and i am getting ready to move. Boston looks like a good place, for many of the things i am looking for. I am now looking for towns on the outskirts of Boston which have the same quality public transit which can get me everywhere i want to go and not cost me an arm and a leg in rent. If you guys know of any good places, let me know.

    Thanks.

  • Am i alone in this school of thought?

I do not call myself a Christian, I say i have a personal relationship with god. I do that because of all the hypocrisy, hate, corruption and any other generalized associations that many people have when thinking of Christians. I do how ever believe in god, but my views differ greatly from almost anyone i have ever spoke to about them. Let me explain.

    1) I believe the bible was inspired by god, then written by man. Man is flawed, there for the bible is flawed too.

    2) Adam and Eve, the creation story as a whole, i do not believe in. I believe god used it as a metaphor to explain to pre-science man, who was very curious, how everything came to be. I KNOW god used science to make everything, from life to black holes.

    3) Noah's Arc, if you do the math, the total area is less then the total area of 2 of every incest that lives today. That does not include extinct bugs or mammals.

    4) I believe everyone has an equal chance to go to heaven, let me explain why. Jesus died for our sins, went to hell and conquered satin. I believe Heaven and Hell exists outside of our universe, that means time for us means nothing for time for them. Time Dilation shows that bodies in our own universe have different perspectives of time due to the properties of space-time. So i feel through thought and prayer that Jesus died, and allowed everyone to confess their sins to all of humanity, god and any intelligent aliens(should they be allowed to go to heaven) then you will be allowed into heaven. (if you want a better explanation e-mail me)

All that said, i believe that god used SCIENCE to explain everything that is and how everything came to be. That alone has caused several Christians in my family and throughout my life to say i am not a Christian, am i alone in believe science is not evil, but the language of god?

  • Where is a good website that provides self teaching math classes?

I am a physics major, and i am the kind of person who can learn on my own about as well as in the class room. That being said i would like the address to a few websites that provide self teching math courses for free. My main reasoning is so that when i take the college courses i can already have a feel for what is coming. I would like to have a good footing in the following types of classes: Probability thoery, Differential equations, celestial mechanics, thermodynamics and areodynamics. Those are just some of the types of math that i would like to get familure with.

Thank you for your time and help.

  • What university is good for a physics major?

I was a waste in high school, so right now i am in community college and taking a study skill tutoring type program. My goal with that is when i get my associates degree i will be on a level playing field with the rest of my peers. At that time i would like to transfer into a college with a good physics program. I am not sure what my degree will specifically be, i like the theoretical stuff as well as quantum and astrophysics.

I am looking for universities that are strong in those areas. The school closest to me with a good program is Tulsa University. I have also been looking at Penn. State and U.C. Berkly. So would you guys please put some school up with good physics programs that are not ivy league schools, i am not rich.

    Thanks.

  • Should i become a Mensa member?

I have had two I.Q. tests, both over the minimum score of 130. I am just wondering what are the real benefits of joining, is it simple bragging rights and a larger sample of intellectual people to converse with? Could it help me to get into a better college?

    Thanks for helping.

  • Is there any legit evidence for UFOs?

I am a physics major, and when looking at hypothetical UFO propulsion technology logically, i run into various problems involving mass destruction. I am wondering if there is any REAL evidence supporting alien beings visiting earth. There are various problems with them getting here, but that aside, i would like to see if anyone can put forth any legit evidence.

  • Christians who don't believe in evolution....?

Your reasoning for not believe in evolution is just as silly as this mans belief that the earth is still. Why does he think the earth does not move? because the bible says so many times.

Look at this site and tell me if you have a better argument then this man.

  • A question involving evolution theory. =)?

I have no problem accepting micro evolution, but there are a few things concerning macro evolution which bother me greatly. Can someone explain how we or other animals evolve with more or less chromosomes?

We have 46, while the other primates have 48.

I have read up on macro evolution a but and i seem to run into the same sorts of problems as stated above involving everything. If evolution happened, and a child had 2 more or less chromosomes, he/she will be unable to mate with our species. If i am correct, animals must have the same number of chromosomes on top on many other things to successfully reproduce. If that is correct then wouldn't a new species that happened to evolve be doomed to an endanger wildlife list due to having no one to reproduce with?

In short, i feel evolution is the right idea but it is not quite the correct theory. I am a physics major and i KNOW that complicated things like astrophysics and quantum field theory change all the time. I feel that evolution is very similar in that it is so complex that we can not have the correct theory yet. I thing that the reason physics is changing so much faster and more regularly then evolution is merely because we have a larger data set and can experience it much more, evolution is hard to study.

So, can any of you guys give me good website(s) with the nuts and bolts of evolution theory, and could you answer my question and then share any of your specific ideas/theories on evolution? I will greatly appreciate every answer.

Sorry about the long question, thank you.

  • What is another novel similar to the Sookie Stackhouse Novels?

Can you guys give me any suggestions of books that are similar in quality and content? I'm not a fan of twilight, those books suck. I would prefer books geared for adults and not children.

    Thank you

  • Does anyone believe the show ancient aliens?

I do not. They talked about an ancient civilization with advance math. the equation shown was

    A=(√1-v^2/c^2)/(r)

now, being a physics major that alone will discredit them. That is sooooo dumb, how could they expect no one with a math or physics back ground to watch that show? Anyone who believes that show should watch the show, then look up the information for themselves after wards.

  • Texas Hold em advice please?

I have started playing PLH and NLH a lot more lately and i was wondering what hold cards are considered to bad to play regularly. I know that 7-2, 8-3 and 9-4 are bad, but what about 10-6 suited. I guess the questions main thing is, what suited cards are still considered to bad to regularly play?
