My service provider informed me that brake and transmission fluids are dirty and contaminated and recommended changing them--a not inexpensive proposition. How harmful would it be to my car if I never did this? If I must do it how long can I safely delay it? I keep my cars on average 8-10 years before resale.

the automatic translation function often filters out images that require no translation with a prompt "unable to translate." If I click on "back to original" nothings happens. I lose a lot of images because of this. I would like to get rid of it but nothing I try works.

I pay an annual capital gains tax even though I don't sell any shares. It seems to me that if these gains are high in any given year with little or no declared fund profit the fund is churning shares to maintain their share price and I am the one stuck with the tax liability. I would like to know if this is a sign of a poorly run fund?

I have owned a stock mutual fund for several years and generally pay capital gains annually even though I have not traded any of the shares. If I did trade shares for a profit I understand I would also have to pay capital gains on this amount as well. Isn't this double taxation? Is there some way to avoid this?

In the properties taskbar dialog box I have checked clearly--group similar task bar buttons and it doesn't work. It is very irritating. Is there any alternative?

I have a HP Scanjet 4670 vertical flatbed scanner which has been working well with Windows XP since 2004. I recently purchased a new computer with Vista Home Premium SP-1 32 bit. After I installed the HP Scanjet software I received a prompt from Windows that there was a known incompatability and I should contact HP for help. After going around in circles for hours on the HP help page I believe the bottom line is that the Scanjet software does not "support" Windows Vista. I was stunned. I now have a very functional, expensive piece of equipment that I can't use. Are there any viable alternatives?

I have a 20 inch Phillips bedroom TV with a direct current amplified rabbit ear antenna which cost 30 dollars at Radio Shack. The reception has always been borderline to fair depending on the weather and channel. With the addition of a digital converter box the signal is so weak that I can get only a couple of the main channels adequately. Is there any reasonably simple way to boost the signal strength? I live in a suburb of a large city.

Walmart has a Magnavox on sale for about 50bucks but some of the online critiques are not so good. I am willing to pay a little bit more if there is a commensurate stepup in quality.

I have been with a stock mutual fund for 20 years and for the last 3 years capital gains are increasing to the point where this year they reflected a third of the total value of the fund. This is killing me in terms of tax penalties and liabilities. Why would this happen and what does this tell you aboutr the fund?
