Does anyone have a good source on how to bounce back from bad credit and get the bills paid off?

When a family gathering happens, everyone talks about how they bought this, we went on this trip or how much $$$$ they spend. I don't make much $$ only enough to pay the bills with nothing left over to do any fun. They ask me what I have done and my reply is i work all the time just to pay the bills. They end up snubbing me off, I end up leaving and going home in tears. I feel i can't show up unless i have a million dollar check to throw on the table to join the conversation.

I have been divorced a few years now, when I would go out with someone my family would make such a big deal out of it and call and tell everyone in the area. If there is a family get together the first thing they always ask is when are you going to get married. I have since not attended any family get togethers as this is the only thing they gossip about. Frankly it is none of there business what i do in my life.

I recently have been with a wonderful guy--out a few times, his friends say he is head over heals about me, but they say he is scared to admit it. I really like this guy, i can tell he is scared to go on, but yet he continues to call and come over. Help me what can I say to get his undivided attention without scaring him off.
