  • Dishwasher not draining (Disposal Installation)?

Ive answered my own question but would like to share a few tips

    for those with this problem.

1st, you will need some plumbers putty when you come home from the store with your new disposal..$2. Its not included.

Now suppose your dishwasher will not drain after you think your job is complete.

1st remove the discharge hose to the disposal and point it into a bucket, turn the dishwasher on drain cycle and see if water comes out. It does? Good..that means your line is not clogged, your pump isnt bad, filter not clogged..ect..

Now, Unlike me..read the instructions better next time.

If you are installing a disposal with a dishwasher you will have to KNOCK OUT the piece of plastic in the drain valve on the disposal unit where the hose goes in!

(A hammer and screwdriver works...remove the piece of plastic inside the disposal after)

(They leave it closed off for installations without a dishwasher, so you have to knock out the nickel sized piece of plastic to open the line.)
