Hello everyone.

So I just got mailed a speeding ticket from one of those automatic camera systems while passing an elementary school.

The event happened in Nassau County @ 5:32 pm on a Friday

The law that governs is subdivision b,c,d,f, or g of section 1180 of Article 30 of NYSVTL

School hours for the elementary school are until 3:18pm

To my understanding, the cameras are only suppose to be in effect during school hours and one hour after school ends. Then possibly 30 minutes if there is a school activity.

I checked the school website and there was no event marked on the calendar.

I was wondering if I could fight this ticket?

There are 2 photos of my car during the incident and they are .6 seconds apart.

Meaning at the speed I was allegedly traveling.. I would have moved 31.68 feet.

There is clearly not a 31.68 feet gap between my car in the two pictures.

There is a section within the law that states on the day that the cameras are to be used that they must be tested. Is it possible that I could argue that they were not monitored correctly for appropriate readouts or that another event may have interfered with accurate readings such as wind.

There is also no sign indicating the hours of operation near the camera.

I could be missing something in the law so I would love to hear your guys input on the situation. Thanks

Alright lets start things off with a little background. I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT1

One day I drove home from work and everything was fine. The next morning my car didn't start.

The radio turned on and you could hear clicking from the starter when I turned the key over.

So my dads mechanic friend came over. Started hitting it with the hammer while having someone try and turn the key. The car still didn't start. He was like OK ITS THE STARTER. Amazing diagnostic..real thorough.

So he ran out and grabbed a starter and began working on my car while I was at work. I get home to a crazy bill and it turns out he didn't just replace my starter; he also replaced my battery. So my battery and starter both went bad at the same time according to his expertise. Alright fine, w.e. the car turned on & there were no check engine lights or anything of that sort. It drove fine.

Two days later...the car dies in the middle of the highway while I was driving to work. The same mechanic comes by and starts hitting things with a hammer again. He gets the car to turn on and hes like oooo now your fuel pump is bad. I ask him if that was the problem all a long. He says no no no it is totally unrelated to the problem you had 2 days ago....lol right. So now hes saying its going to cost me 700 bucks to have that replaced.

I mean obviously I am going to be skeptical because 3 parts going bad within 2 days seems a little far fetched. The car is doing the same thing. Radio turns on and starter is clicking when turning the key over. I am not a car mechanic by any stretch but I am pretty sure there is alternative ways to test a starter and fuel pump other then hitting stuff with a hammer

Basically I am here to get some insight on what possibly could be the issue. Also if 700 bucks seems a little overkill.

I had these codes pulled up:

P0141 O2 Heated Circuit Bank1, Sensor 2

P0136 O2 Bank1, Sensor 2

I assume this means that the O2 sensors need to be replaced

Where are the faulty ones located on my car? After the catalytic converter?

I am being spy vs spy with my brother for a halloween party and I can't seem to find a circular bomb anywhere I go. I was able to find the dynamite stick online. I wen't in multiple halloween stores and searched online for a circular bomb but was unable to find one(except for a dog toy one).Heres what the type of bomb I want looks like. So yea I was looking into whitening strips and wanted to try them out but I was afraid if it wouldn't be safe to use on my teeth.

I was born with genetic root loss so the roots in my teeth are much shorter then they should be. Meaning they can fall out a lot easier with force. The roots are pretty sensitive as well.

Back when I was in middle school. I got into an accident and had 6 of my front teeth knocked out. 2 on top of my mouth and 4 on the bottom.

I got them put back in and had root canals done because all of them died within a matter of weeks after the surgery.

This all was about 6 years ago. I am 19 now. Teeth looking as normal as they did before the accident.

So yea I am wondering if any professionals out there or users who are in a similar boat as I am can give me some insight on whether or not I could safely use whitening strips.

So I have a pug named Troy. He has diabetes and he went blind about 4 days ago. My parents think that they should put the dog down. He currently is on insulin to help control his diabetes. Despite his blindness, he is still able to get around my house pretty well. He follows peoples voice and knows where to eat. He bumps into things on occasions but I kind of suspected that to happen since he only became blind a few days ago. He has some trouble navigating the backyard but I have been helping him everyday by guiding him with my voice while he is outside.

What I am trying to say, I believe that troy can still function despite losing his vision and that my parents are taking in the situation worse then my dog. They believe he is suffering.

Whats your guys opinion? Would you put down a dog because it became blind?

I mean I understand that they don't want troy to die a painful death by diabetes but I don't believe they should just choose to put him down just yet. If they went and had him tested and he ended up having tumors or something on his pancreas then by all means yes put him out of his misery but I don't think his time has come just yet.

Alright so I was on my way back home and this girl makes a left turn and cuts across two lanes of traffic. I was in the right lane so I was unable to see her coming because there was a line of cars next to me and ahead of me. So yea, I end up sideswiping this girls brand new toyota camry.

Her bumper fell off and my car is now leaking some liquid and the headlights popped out of position. Not bad, easy fix.

My main question is, if a person is driving a car with a permit in the state of New York and they do not have a person with a full license accompanying them.. are they at fault?

The officer wasn't able to tell me who was at fault because apparently he doesn't decide. I just have to request the police report to find out who was wrong. Wasn't he filling out the police report? Idk how this all makes sense but whatever.

Another question, shouldn't there be lights for turns like this?

Alright well I have a dog named shoobie. I had him since he was 3. He is a Shih Tzu and he is around the age of 13 or 14 now.

He has always been a wonderful dog but

Lately he has been very clingy

He pants excessively when nobody is around and he sleeps more then usual

When we are away from home, he knocks down all the sofa mats and he broke the screen on two windows so far and just jumped out.

Luckily our neighbors found him

Now that we keep the windows shut, he scratches and gnaws on them.

He has an awful limp now probably due to jumping out the window.

I love this dog dearly and we are taking him to the vet tomorrow.

I am afraid of him suffering, he has a cataract, a limp, and I am pretty sure he has gotten senile

What I am asking is, do you think it is best to put him out of his misery?

or is there a possible drug to take some of the edge off?

Please provide some insight on this situation.

Please no heartless comments about how i should just get over it since it is just a pet. It is really unnecessary.

Alright so yea I got caught speeding and the officer kept telling me to go to court to get a reduced fine for it.. so I said hey, why not.

And yea this was the first ticket I ever got.

So I mailed in the ticket saying not guilty and unfortunately, I forgot to write down the court date stated from the ticket.

Do they mail you a reminder of your court date? (New York)

If not, who would I call to find out. The courthouse?

What is the general fee for going 20 mph over the speed limit in New York(Nassau County) for a first offense?

I was going 75 in the 55 on a parkway and yea I got caught.

I plan on going to court to hopefully get the fine reduced but I want to know how much the ticket generally costs so I can save some money to pay for it.

Alright so my backwindshield wiper broke and I was wondering if that needed to be fixed in order to pass inspection?

BQ: My brother is the one who got pulled over today because our car hasn't been inspected since November, when my brother was pulling out all his info out of the glove box..the cop saw that I had my junior license in the glovebox and flipped out saying it needs to be with me all time. But it is my junior license, which is no longer valid. And he still kept flipping out saying that I had to have it on my person. Is this sheriff retarded or something?

Alright so i just got contacts like a week ago and i dropped my left contact and lost it. Needless to say I couldn't find it. Three days later I found it on the floor and it was all hard and icky looking. So I have been soaking it in the disinfecting cleaning stuff that came with the contacts. It got soft again and theres no rips in it or anything. I keep a clean house. Do you think it would be safe to wear?

Hey I plan on getting corrective colored contacts for my eyes and I have a few questions about them.

What brands do you recommend?

Can they be covered by insurance?

I have dark brown eyes and I want to change the color of them to something different, is there certain types of colored contacts?
