  • What could be wrong with a car that has a stock stereo system to become dysfunctional when it's cold?

I have an 04 ford escape and for over 3 years (only during winter time) I go to start my car and everything functions except my stereo system (which is stock/not modified) keep in mind that this happens in weather generally around 32 degrees give or take. It has never happened on days that are warm. I will either have to run/warm up the car for 20 minutes or be physically driving it for 20 minutes before the stereo/time will display. Otherwise it's a black screen display showing no power. When this is happening, if I press in the volume control knob (which would normally turn the stereo on and off) the stereo screen will display "initializing" or "no cd" when CDs are in there. 15 miles down the road, it will resolve itself by powering up, showing a screen display, and playing music. Is there a wire that might be loose? What are some examples of what might be causing this/why it's happened/how to fix it? Much appreciated...

  • Can you help me identify my Native American jewelry?

When my grandmother passed away, I acquired a great addition to my jewelry collection. It's a large ring with both a turquoise and coral stone (separated) with the coral one above the turquoise. The ring in general is about an inch and a half in length and looks to be in the shape of a cowboy, although it may just be a design. There are no symbols/signatures on the back, although there is a marking that looks like a scribbled pound sign (#) does anyone know about who the maker could be? I can't seem to find anything on the internet about it.

  • Wtf happened to my car?

Here's the deal: I'm not sure when this actually occurred, or where for that matter, but after washing my car I became very unhappy. I found my car covered in tiny particles of dark blue PAINT. Not sure what kind of paint besides it's PERMANENT. It's covering the entire length of my WHITE SUV and is on every door/window/panel/ you can think of. You have to walk up close to notice but once you see it, you can miss it. It's densely (very tiny particles though) covering my original paint. What I'm wondering is if someone in the painting industry knows what might have happened...? It almost seems like I drove through it? But I doubt that's what occurred. I also realize if someone was painting a house/car nearby, the wind could have blown the overspray onto my car. That's the obvious answer...but wouldn't other cars have been effected as well...? Has this happened to anyone? Other than what I've listed, what else might have happened? It's not like splotches of paint either, it's very evenly dusted small particles. Please help! I'd like to come to a conclusion so I can find the person responsible. Otherwise it's $400 (for something I had NO control over) to get it buffed off. Thanks in advance. No sarcastic remarks please.

  • What could be wrong with my 2004 Ford Escape?

    Please no rude answers.

I just recently made a long drive from Nevada to Colorado, and my car started to break down in the final stretch of my road trip. The drive was a total of 650 miles. Like I said before, I have a 2004 Ford Escape and it has about 132,000 miles on it. Let me explain what was happening: While going uphill, I seemed to have a loss of power and was topping out at 63 MPH with my RPM's staying at 4,000 and not shifting. (Remember this was uphill) Next thing I noticed was my engine being more noisy than usual and sounded like it was overworking itself (possibly because of the long drive?) After that my car started doing this chugging thing. It felt like a stick-shift car when it's about to stall... It would do the "chugging" in sets of three and felt like my car was going to die at any moment. As soon as I took my foot off the accelerator, it would stop chugging for a while but then start again a few minutes later. This got worse and the chugging became constant to where I had to pull over and have someone pick me up. My check engine light also flipped on at this point. Could this be my fuel filter or fuel pump? (My car has an external fuel filter by the way) or could this be the cause of not having my fluids flushed in way too long? Please help!!! Is it safe to drive to my Dad's dealership 3 hours away?

  • Where could I get a free diagnostic for my car near Thornton, Colorado?

My friend told me about a car care place that does free car diagnostics, although I cannot remember what the place was called. Can anyone help me out? I have to get my car towed there because it is not running correctly and I have no idea what is wrong with it. I have a lot drive ahead of me this weekend so I am hoping to get this figured out ASAP. Thanks in advance.

  • How can I tell if my Chihuahua puppy is part Yorkie?

I got her just a few days ago and as far as I know, she is 7-9 weeks old. She is very tiny (which is expected) she is red in color, she has the prettiest grey/green eyes (which I'm not sure is a characteristic of a Chihuahua or not? She has white under her chin and stomach and has a tail with a black tip. She has slightly longer hair that sticks out on the sides of her neck and on her chest. Can anyone tell me if you think she is part Yorkie? Thanks.

  • What is wrong with my laptop? ?

I have an hp tx1000 laptop computer. When I turn it on, I get the screen that tells me "windows was not shut down properly" and I have two options: 1) safe

mode (start up repair) or 2) start windows normally. Whichever one I choose, I get the same results; either a blackish screen or a blueish screen. The screen is still lit up and the fans are still running at this point... I have no clue what could be going on. I've already replaced it's motherboard and don't know what's wrong with it this time. What I'm wondering is if there is a start up command that I can enter at the beginning when the computer is starting up to avoid whatever it is that is going on. Please help me if you can. Thanks a bunch!!!

  • Laptop problem!!!? Black screen!?

I got the dreaded 'blue screen' on my hp laptop computer. This has happened before and somehow started working again by itself. But this time is different and all that it's doing now is showing me a dark/black screen...it won't do anything even when I try pushing buttons and clicking. Is my laptop screwed or is there a way I can get it running again without bringing it into a Best Buy or something?

  • Where can you buy 'Rhine' wines in Idaho?

Ok, so I'm a big fan of wine...white wine in particular. I recently tried Rhine for my first time, and I loved it! Normally I stick to sweet wines like Moscato, but the Rhine was a great change. The kind I tried was the Franzia boxed wine. I really liked it and have been trying to find it ever since. I recently moved to Idaho (from Colorado) and when I go to a liquor store and ask for Rhine or Moscato, they act like I'm speaking a different language... Am I not trying the right stores, or do they not sell Rhine in Idaho?
