I have a pretty annoying glitch in my Sims 3 game which means the people cannot interact with each other. There are only a couple of options, such as 'call over' and 'mean....scare' They'll do the scare interaction, but the first time it happened after loading the game up my sim was on a date, and had the option to say goodbye. So because he couldn't really do anything and it would be a rubbish date, I told him to say goodbye, and he walked up but then froze and jumped several feet away from her. This happened each time I tried.

So this really irritating glitch is hindering gameplay quite a lot!! I've googled this and though I haven't found a solution, nearly all the people who have had this happen have just had a Sim return from China. My Sim did indeed just come back from a China vacation. I don't know if this is some custom content I have, or a mod, but I don't think so as they've never acted up before.

The file with that family in is called [familyname].sims3.bad so there might be something wrong with it. I've gone through the process of moving to the backup file, and it didn't help.

On a side note, the game is suddenly a bit slow and jerky, and the computer it's installed on has a really high graphics card so it must be something else. Not sure if this is part of the glitch or not.

Ok, last night I opened the game launcher, and it told me there was a new game update to install. Like usual, I regretfully waited for it all to install and do it's work, then when it had finshed, this happened:

"Error: Your The Sims 3 base game is incompatible with the current Sims 3 expansion pack. Please update your game via the game launcher."

V. strange...and of course there were no updates; I had just updated it! So I eventually decided to close the warning sign and press the big play button on the game launcher. The whole game launcher closed, and presented me with a new sign, entitled 'unable to start game' but with the same message as before. And it was telling me about the *base* game in these signs, while I was using world adventures. I even tried restarting the computer, and testing it with the base game disc, only to get the same results.

Please help - I think the new update glitched big time, as it was working perfectly well before, and I need to know if any of you guys are having trouble with it too. I am also praying that I do not have to re-install the game, as I have soo many houses built and legacies I am playing on which I *really* do not want to lose any time soon. My teen was at school, and I selected 'meet new friends' out of the various drop down options for school time. It then notified me that...wait for it...

"Joana Simmons [the sim] has met Joanna Simmons at school."

This was WIERD. When she got home, I told her to call herself. She did, and she had a nice chat with the other Joanne Simmons. And today, after she came home from school, I told her to invite herself over. It turned out she would love to hang out with herself, and two seconds later the doorbell rang and there was a perfect clone of Joanna Simmons!! I have just minimised the game with her shaking hands with her clone to report this wierdo glitch. Has this happened to anyone else? I don't want to muck up her sims life for myself by having her know a clone of herself I didn't even make, as that kind of ruins things a little. So do share, has this glitch occured in anyone else's game, and if so, is there a patch for it out there? Thanks in advance, Jenny :)

I am a 13 year old girl (this isn't my account, it's my Dads btw) . Tomorrow I travel into London to stay with my best friend ever for two days, so I can get my ears pierced with her. Well, that was the plan. It's a long story which you have to know to understand, so here goes.

At first it was all aranged. Mum was okay with it - the only issue being I had got my ears first pierced when I was nine and let them close up. So Mum wanted me to go to the original place with her, without my friend to get them done. But we kind of worked our way around this, and I soon found out my friend's mum wanted to be with her daughter too. So that was fine. We were getting them done seperately. Or so I thought.

Yesteray I got a call from the friend. I had made a slight mistake in understanding what she meant by getting them done with her mum. She actually meant we were still going of course, just with her mum accompanying us. I told my mother. She didn't seem to mind.

I was excited about the ear piercing and was going on about them to Mum today. She stopped me mid flow and was like;

"Hang on - you're not getting them done in London; you're doing them with me."

I was slightly taken aback and explained I thought I told her the plans yesterday. She proceeded to tell me she had switched off back then and hadn't been listening to me. How rude! Well, that was her own fault, and it's too late now to re-arange plans. Just a second ago she started being really nice, and surprised me:

She asked me if I wanted to go and get them done with her, NOW. I said 'Yes I do, but am not going to, as I'm not going to let down my friend by turning up with freshly pierced ears when we are supposed to be getting them done as an adventure together'. Mum said 'Fine. That's fine. But you won't be getting them done in London'. What am I supposed to do now???

I could phone my friend and tell her, but she's on a nice day out and I don't want to upset her. Thank you so much for reading this lengthy tale, and I hope you can help me and my mum decide what to do.

I spent ages finding out how to get a ghost in the sims three to live in my sim's house with him, and they were a happy couple together, baby on the way, when I told the ghost to 'play with mirror'. She immediately disappeared, and I thought this was because she had gone inside the mirror - like when they haunt things. But then the game started going really slowly all of sudden, and the ghost wouldn't obey my commands (I told her to stop playing with the mirror and walk somewhere). So I pressed Save And Quit.

When I returned to the game, the only character I could play on in the house was my original sim, and there was no sign of the ghost. This was worrying. I immediately did a scan of the house and garden. No ghost. She wasn't in the Goth's graveyard where I got her from, and I couldn't find her grave.

Please help me, as that was the 7th generation of my sim's legacy on the way, and I will become morbidly depressed if I cannot solve this!!

My history project is to make a diary of a girl who's father owned slaves (I'm talking about slaves imported from Africa to America in the 1800's by the way). I need to know:

Did American children during that time have Victorian sorts of names like in Victorian Britain?

What would the girl have called her father (Pa, Father, Sir)?

How did the slaves understand their owners? Could they speak English?

Every time I open the sims, and go on the family I am raising at the moment, a sign comes up, saying something like; 'Name this new person'. In the space where you are supposed to write the name, it has 'Michael' written in it. This happens instantly as soon as I press play in the household, and I don't know if it happens in only that family as I haven't tried any others yet. The exact same thing has happened every time I go to play them (four times). It is not asking me to name a new baby btw. Any ideas why this is happening?

yesterday my friend showed me this game called faunasphere (had never heard of it previously) and i made an account this morning. My fauna has layed an egg and i have been told by the game to buy three nesting thatches. After having done so, i placed them in my creature's home and waited for some kind of transformation on the egg's behalf, as I had seen last night at my friends, only to find nothing. The nesting thatches are still three piles of green leafy things, and my egg is refusing to hatch. Help?

I have searched for this on the web, but there isn't anything quite as specific as my question. What I want to know is where, and at what time, do the ghosts come in the Jones Family in Riverview? Does each ghost come in a particular room, or is the game programmed to make them appear as a character does a certain action?

I have a downstairs bedroom, and I was trying to get some sleep to stay up late tonight. My sister was in the nearby living room, and, even with my door jammed shut, I could still hear her annoyingly loud voice. As the living room is one of the central areas of our house, closing the doors to that will not make much difference as someone will soon open them again to pass through. Does anyone know how to block out noise when trying to relax and get some rest? (I would imagine ear phones are quite uncomfortable to wear at night.)

Today it was my birthday and one of my presents was Sims 2 Open For Business. I'm just getting the hang of all the shop stuff in my neighbourhoods, but I have also heard rumours that there was supposed to be a new neighbourhood, called Bluewater Village. The only problem is that this new neighborhood doesn't display in my game. Incase there was a restriction on how many neighbourhoods you could display, I deleted one of my less used ones, in hope that the new one would show. Still nothing. Perhaps I'm being stupid, and it really comes with Freetime, but I am pretty certain it is supposed to display with this expanasion. Can anybody help me to unlock this village, or suggest why it has gone wrong?

Using a few small cheats, I made tutorial Jane pregnant with her fiance Joe's child. I thought it would be quite cool to create a legacy with them, and Jane gave birth when I realised the save option was not there for that family. It would be a disappointment to lose the child and the progress made, so does anyone know any keys to press or cheats to save the progress I have made on this family?

Is there a FREE hack out there which is not the Inteenimator? I know you can do it the hard way with the boolprop age transition stuff, but I really need something simple and quick. Thanks in advance!

Okay. I am a confident user of boolprop, and know of many cheats. One in particular, is the alien abduction cheat. So I type in 'boolprop testingcheatsenabled true' and then shift click on the expensive telescope. It then has two options; force error, and something like DEBUG - get abducted. I click on the second one, the debug thing, and expect to immediately be swept away by aliens. But no. And the funny thing is, this cheat has worked before. But instead, the sim walks up to the telescope, begins to crouch down and start to look through, when they become rigid and jerk back . The action about getting abducted then disappears and they walk off. Any explainations?

A perplexed Sims user

Everytime I log onto one very important family, within two sims hours (two mintes here) one of the social workers turns up. I think it is because the child has a D - but I can't find her homework and it is night so she can't get to school anyway.

I don't know how to stop her taking the kids away because it won't let me access build or buy mode so moveobjects is out of the question. I tried turning the social worker into a toddler but she drove off and the kids went suddenly. Help?!
