  • New server at work is SLOW?

We have just had a new system installed at work which consists of 15 end user machines linked to a server. The servers specs are:

    Operating system windows 32 bit,

    Processor i3 (sandybridge)

    Memory 4gb

However there seems to be a small lag when searching the database from the server. My question is if I were to upgrade the server spec will I see any improvement (even if it is 4 seconds faster), and if so what specs do you recomend.

  • Would it be worthwhile upgrading an dual socket PC with a pair of xeon x5460 from 5130?

Ive had my current system with dual xeon 5130 system for over 5 years and its seems to struggling more with editing/encoding 1080p footage. Would it be worth upgrading with dual xeon's x5460 or build a new system with a intel i7 3770 considering the power consumption as well as the overall CPU speed.

    Thanks in advance.

  • How long can The Police keep my Mobile?

I was arrested 3 months ago and bailed. My bail was then cancelled 2 months later on "Not enough evidence". However the officer is refusing to return my phone stating that I Am still under investigation and he is keeping the phone as evidence. I have had nothing in writing to say I am under investigation.

Are the police allowed to keep personal property if you are no longer under arrest?

    Thanks

  • Software Licensing tied to a hardware device only?

    HI

I am in a bit of dilemma in which our software provider have change their conditions of the software we use. Basically we use bespoke software on PDA's that is installed by the software company once we have paid for the software. What the software developers are stating now is that he software is licensed to the PDA it was installed on and if you loose the PDA you also loose the software.

Is that Legal to tie the software licence to a device.

    Thanks In Advance

    Hi

What i want to know is if you run a service supplying business in the UK But base your HQ abroad , can you request your customers to pay you in that country (HQ abroad).

Will the payment be subject to UK TAX and VAT? or will the tax be imposed by the country in which the HQ is based?

Keeping in mind the company employs around a staff of 20 in the UK in a call center.

    Thanks

  • HELP which one shal i get, sony a700, nikon d60, the new d3000 or d5000?

    Hi

Im thinking of getting my first DSLR. After crawling the internet and looking at the reviews of sony a700, nikon d60, d3000 and d5000 im a bit confused at what to buy.

i was going to buy the a700 as its dropped its price (alot) but the lens that comes with the camera is poor and a good lens is way to expensive (out of my budget £700)

also leaning towards the d60 as it cheap so ill be able to spend some money on a new zoom lens.

D3000 as its new but still no offers of twin lens kit available

    D5000 hd recording (not priority)

I know some of the cameras are in a different league but still which one would you recommend and why.

    Thanks In advance
