  • Love me but not "In Love" anymore?

    If after 11 years he says he "loves me but is not in love with me" - is there any hope?

    Being a firm believer that you can't make someone love you, and if they don't, its best to start moving on and going through the grief process immediately. After all, what would be the point of staying and trying? The day he said it, I left and went to my sisters house. Within a week, I moved out. Its been 3 weeks and I haven't spoken to him at all, but i'm a wreck.

    Does anyone see any reason to hope?

  • Another Case of Republican Hypocrisy?

    I'm wondering how all these right wingers are justifying making every excuse in the book for Bush when his policies shat all over the Constitution - going so far in his obvious disregard as to call it "just a god d*mned piece of paper"

    And now questioning the patriotism of Obama because he said our Constitution was flawed IN THAT it did not provide for social justice: i.e. slavery, the fact that blacks were deamed 3/5 of a person, women were denied the right to vote, etc. I actually think thats a pretty good debatable question. It certainly means no disrespect.

    In fact - if the Constitution was "perfect" explain why we've felt it necessary to AMEND it 27 times? Don't forget - the "Bill of Rights" is comprised of Amendments 1-10 - so clearly Obama isn't the only one that thought further clarification re: justice was needed - and again with the 14th Amendment:

    No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

    First Colin Powel, now McClellan?   • WHY IS PALIN DENYING HER MAKEOVER EXPENSE?

    "...The Republican National Committee came under scrutiny after the party committee reported earlier this week that it had spent about $150,000 in September on wardrobe and cosmetics after Palin joined the GOP ticket..."

    Palin mincing words:

    "In an interview with the Chicago Tribune and Fox News on Thursday, Palin said the clothes bought for the Republican National Convention were not worth $150,000..."

    How blatant is that. Firstly, no one said it was $150K in "clothes" - its a $150K MAKEOVER. Why is she trying to doublespeak this - her own party has had to release the ITEMIZED expense reports. Its pretty clear how much was spent on what. So why the denial?

    Yet an another example of "if you say it often enough, it will be true" politics. Who says "thanks but no thanks"?

    Lets ask him:

    Former Secretary of State Colin Powell announced Sunday that he will break with his party and vote for Sen. Barack Obama. "He has both style and substance. I think he is a transformational figure," Powell said on NBC's Meet the Press.

    "I come to the conclusion that because of his ability to inspire, because of the inclusive nature of his campaign, because he is reaching out all across America, because of who he is and his rhetorical abilities -- and you have to take that into account -- as well as his substance -- he has both style and substance," Powell said. "He has met the standard of being a successful president, being an exceptional president."

    Powell noted that McCain has been a good friend for 25 years, but expressed disappointment in the "over the top" negative tone of the GOP campaign, as well as in McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as the vice presidential nominee.

  • OPEC to cut production to raise oil prices?

    With gas prices finally coming into a more reasonable rage - I wouldn't call $3.25/g "low" - OPEC is set to CUT production in order to INCREASE our cost. So I have 2 questions:

    Does this not prove that prices were and are artificially high?

    Also, as was stated by OPEC in the Congressional Hearings in 2006 - production is not an issue, our lack of refining capability is. So tell me again why we need to Drill in ANWR?

    There are many posts on here from persons I'm convinced are incapable of critical thought - but this one takes the cake!

    A oft quoted bit of chain mail trash claiming to quote the Book of Revelations - "The anti-christ will be a man, in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal....the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, will destroy everything is it OBAMA??”

    Some FACTS about the Book of Revalations

    • The word “anti-christ” does not appear in the Book of Revelation.

    • There’s no mention of the word “Muslim.” (In fact Islam, and therefore Muslims did not appear ANYWHERE in the bible as Islam did not come into existence until at least 400 years AFTER the creation of the Bible! Not to mention the small fact that regardless of that, Obama is not in fact a Muslim anyway)

    • There’s no mention of a man of a certain age. in fact The Book of Revelation talks of God, Jesus Christ, John, spirits, Jezebel, a beast like a calf, a beast like a flying eagle, elders, a great red dragon and many more animals and people. But nowhere does it describe “a man, in his 40s,” as the e-mail alleges.

    SO, even a modicum of research - say READING chapter 13 of the Book of Revelations, or going to Snopes.com if you really don't have the time - but seriously? Just believe and spread the lies? What kind of "critical thought" is that?

    Orwell really has our current administration and its supporters dialed with this quote:

    Will we not listen to the past and see it being presented again here? Nationalism is NOT Patriotism.

    So, you get that?

    OBAMA WAS A CHILD (He was 8!) at the time of Ayers actions, AND the only "Ties" was a meet-n-greet in 1995!! . Really, this is the best they could come up with?

    Todd and Sarah Palin had a combined income of 166,080 in 2007 an paid $24,738 in taxes, according to tax returns the campaign released late this afternoon. The couple made $127,869 in 2006 and paid $11,944 in taxes.

    So in 2007, she paid 14.9% in federal income tax, and in '06 paid 9.3% - both years are well below her tax bracket. Hummm.... no wonder she doesn't care about tax cuts for the middle class, she already goes by her own.

    In 2006, they gave 3.3% of their adjusted gross income to charity. In 2007, they gave 1.5% to charity.

    I think this one of the most telling exchanges: Palin - besides rambling out a barely coherent answer, she makes it obvious that she is ignorant of both the branch of government the Vice President occupies (executive) and that out Constitution is very clear in spelling that out!

    PALIN: Well, our founding fathers were very wise there in allowing through the Constitution much flexibility there in the office of the vice president. And we will do what is best for the American people in tapping into that position and ushering in an agenda that is supportive and cooperative with the president's agenda in that position. Yeah, so I do agree...that we have a lot of flexibility in there...

    BIDEN: ...Article I of the Constitution defines the role of the vice president of the United States, that's the Executive Branch. He works in the Executive Branch. He should understand that. Everyone should understand that.

    And the primary role of the vice president of the United States of America is to support the president of the United States of America, give that president his or her best judgment when sought, and as vice president, to preside over the Senate, only in a time when in fact there's a tie vote. The Constitution is explicit.
