A moment of eye contact producing an instant crush on someone you've known for a while but didn't previously like?
This has happened to me several times recently. I'll have known someone for a while and have interacted with them frequently, but wasn't interested in them. But then, during some everyday, unremarkable exchange, our eyes will meet and in an instant I suddenly have a crush on them.
I have a casual interest in psychology, and my reading has lead me to believe that attraction is primarily based on scent, so this seems strange to me. Has anyone else had the same experience? Any theories on why this happens?
2 AnswersPsychology7 years agoWhy do cooks wear ridiculous pants?
I looked it up and people said chef pants are loose so they won't sweat as much and so they can move, and the check pattern hides stains, but why do they have such weird, ugly patterns like the chili peppers, lemons, and stuff like that?
6 AnswersCooking & Recipes7 years agoSeniors: Do you get excited about life events?
It seems to me, the more experiences you have had, the less exciting new experiences are. When I was a little kid, I got extremely excited about moving to new places. In my early 20s I got extremely excited about going to new countries. But now moving and seeing new destinations does not excite me at all. Nothing does. I assume new experiences will not be that much different from old ones. Is this a normal part of getting older
6 AnswersSenior Citizens8 years agoLooking for a word close in meaning to "apathetic"?
Is there a word that means, not worrying about things you can't change? "Apathetic" means not caring. What word would you use to describe someone who does care, but doesn't invest much energy thinking or worrying about it because there was no point in doing so?
Say, for example, I am saddened by war, but since there is nothing I can do to stop war, I chose not to think about it a lot, read about it, or talk about it, because it would do no good and just upset me. Is there a word for it?!
3 AnswersWords & Wordplay8 years agoLooking for a quote about how not getting our wishes spares us the unforeseen sorrow that would accompany them?
As an example, many people wish they'd win the lottery, but studies have shown that people who do tend to end up less happy than they were before. So by not being granted the wish of winning the lottery, you've spared yourself this grief that you didn't anticipate. Any quotes illustrating this concept?

Sounds kind of funny, but how would you interpret this statement?
6 AnswersPhilosophy9 years agoWhat is the word for when a cook observes work in a restaurant's kitchen before accepting a position there?
My friend is a cook and recently interviewed at a restaurant. They invited her to come observe the kitchen during prep and service so she could see whether she liked the environment before accepting the job. I forget the word she used for this visit, think it starts with a V and is of French origin?

Should I email the poster my phone number in the first message I send? Or should I arrange a viewing over email? I have no idea what I should say in my message to the poster.

Or about timid people not obtaining rewards? I'm trying to find a saying or quote on this theme.

4 AnswersPolls & Surveys9 years agoI'm going away for two weeks. How many pairs of underwear should I bring?
I'll have access to a washing machine. My suitcase is plenty big. I own 21 pairs of underwear but I wonder if it would be overkill to bring 14. If my luggage got lost I'd be devastated. But I usually wash my underwear separately from my other laundry and don't think I could justify doing a wash for just, say 7 pairs. What would you do?
4 AnswersPacking & Preparation9 years agoCan I use a temporary driver's license in different states?
I'm a Washington resident and planning on taking my driving test soon for my first license. I think when you pass the test, they give you a temporary black and white license printed on a simple paper card, to use until you receive the nice laminated one in the mail. Do you think I'd have an issue driving with the temporary black and white one in another state? Eg: Georgia.
