  • Name of a movie about a woman travelling to Ireland to get back together with her Boyfriend?

I saw this movie ages ago and didn't think much of it but it has some music in it that sounds very like the music in 'Local Hero' just can't think of the name.

I remember a woman is going to Ireland to get back together with her boyfriend. She ends up in the middle of nowhere and meets another guy and at the end she has to decide between them. Would appreciate your help. (It's not PS I Love you btw)

  • UK Sim card needed for one month?

I am coming to the UK for just one month. My phone is an Australian HTC Desire on a Telstra contract so should be unlocked. I want to use my phone for calls, texts and internet (but not tethering). Can anyone recommend a Sim card and plan.

Some other important things: I will be using the phone mostly in Inverness and other parts of the Highlands.

I am not clear from my research whether the rolling contracts require you to pay for at least two months.

    Thanks for your help

  • What is a direct literal translation of "Orkneyinga"?

There is a old book called 'The Orkneyinga Saga' about the earls of Orkney. The book was first written in old Icelandic and has been translated into English. The translation is usually given as "A History of the Early of Orkney" but I am interested to know what the "-inga" part refers to as a direct translation. I thought that a speaker of a Scandanavian language might know.

  • Why was North Bridge in Edinburgh closed to traffic at 9pm on Saturday 8th August?

I was in Edinburgh at the festival this weekend. I was about to get on a bus at 9pm when the police appeared and appeared to be barricading both ends of North Bridge. Couldn't see anything going on on the bridge but the traffic was disrupted for about two hours. Does anyone know what was going on?

  • Music Video - Girl In Blue Bikini?

I'm trying to remember a recent song title that I saw in a bar but can't remember any of the lyrics or who the artist is. What I do remember is that there is a girl in a blue bikini and the the straps on the bikini have an unusual double strap on each shoulder. It's a kind of up beat song with a kind of summery beach video. Any ideas?

  • Which high performance laptop should I get? Toshiba, Sony or Asus?

I'm looking for a high performance laptop but can't decide between the above brands, let alone model. I use my laptop for multimedia applications and will generally be using image or flash suites at the same time as watching a DVD in the corner and all my Microsoft Office programs open. A good quality screen 15.6 or 16.4" is important and it needs to have at least 4Gb of RAM and Bluetooth enabled. I'm looking for one with a screen. Good battery life is also important.

Maybe too specific but do you have any ideas? Price range up to $2600 AUD (?£1000). Thanks

  • Immobiliser problem on year 2000, Daewoo Lanos?

I have a year 2000 Daewoo Lanos 1.5. It has a after-manufacture fitted immobiliser. The car has no central locking and as far as i'm aware no electronics in the key fob, just a little liquorice stick on that comes with the key and switches off the immobiliser.

Today for no reason the dashboard lights wouldn't come on but the electrics are fine (wind screen wipers, headlights, stereo etc.) all work. The RACT guy told me that the immobiliser was the problem but was vague as to how to deal with it.

The car was bought second hand without any information for security codes or even a spare key (my fault for not checking!). Since the car is so old i don't want to spend a fortune getting it fixed. How do i go about getting the car going again?

  • Name of Novel - Couple Coping With Abduction Of Their Child?

Can anyone help me here. I read this book ages ago but have never been able to recall the title.

The story starts with a man with his young daughter at the supermarket. He takes her eyes off her for a second and she disappears. He searches and it seems so ridiculous but the seriousness of it sinks in after a short time. He has to go home and tell his wife what has happenned and they go through the heart wrenching process of appealing for their daughter's return and not knowing whether she's alive or dead.

The couple drift apart because the woman blames the man for losing their daughter.

Sounds like a not unfamiliar type of story but the story ends with the man trying to get home and thumbing down a maintenance train by the edge of the railway track. And getting a lift that way.

    Do you recognise the novel?

  • What is the title of this time travelling movie?

I have been trying to remember the name of this movie for some time. Can anyone help.

It is an American movie at least twenty years old. Likely to be from the late 1970s or early 1980s. The main character is chasing the bad guy who has stolen his time machine. He also has one. The machine is hand held and after time travel leaves and small area of scorched ground in a ring around where the time traveller was standing.

The only other thing I can remember from it is that the main character saw a Colt 45 revolver in a photgraph that was taken before the gun was invented and thats how he knows where to find the other guy.
