  • Do any Labs do blood tests for HCG privately? ?

As in, I walk in with cash or a major credit card and they mail me the results? LOL I know its probably dumb but I won't have medical insurance for a while and would rather not pay for a whole office visit until I'm sure I'm pregnant. Thanks!

  • So... can you see a line?

Before you click the link, please let me say I am running out to get a few more now because I took this one this morning at 10dpo and only watched until halfway through saturation then threw it out beffore hubby could catch me! I remembered it this afternoon and dug it out of the garbage.

Is this what an evap line looks like? I have never had an evap before and I have dug plenty of these out after days in the past week!

  • Painful sex first half of cycle?

I have had this for as long as I have been having regular sex with my partner (for the last year). It seems as if beginning after my period ends to around ovulation time which is about two weeks out of the month, sex hurts in some positions.

It generally feels as if he is ramming into my cervix. Sometimes it is sharp enough that I have to stop the sex alltogether.

I can't find much about this on the internet... most people complain of pains during ovulation only, or after ovulation with endo... as I am trying to get pregnant I want to know if this could pose a problem. I have been pregnant twice, one abortion last year and one miscarriage this year so I know I am not infertile.

Anyone else have this? Or heard of it? Thanks.

  • Is severe, one sided menstrual pain normal after a d&c?

I just had a d&c July 29th for a missed Misscarriage at 13 weeks. I had no bleeding whatsoever after the procedure. Today is September 3rd and I just started my first period today.

Now, my periods are usually painful, but this is another story. The pain is an intesnse, off and on stabbing on my left side! At first, I had these cramps with no bleeding and I was worried I was pregnant again with an ectopic but I started bleeding, popped 4 excedrine and the pain eased a little. But I don't want to take too many pain killers.

Is severe, localized cramping normal? I don't have a doctor or insurance anymore so I can't just pop in and ask. Has anyone else experienced this and will it pass soon? This sucks.

  • Period on time after d&c?

I am now 3 days late... had my d&c on July 29th at 13 weeks for a fetal demise... it had a heartbeat at 9 weeks... then it died the week after. I know my hcg is down because I took a pregnancy test last week and it was negative. My husband and I have not been careful and in fact have been having unprotected sex regularly in the hope I will get pregnan again soon. However... I just took another today and it was also negative.

So if I am not pregnant, then when can I expect my period? I have an increase in appetite and irritability but not much bloat or cramping and no sore breasts...

    Anyone have an idea?

  • Has anyone had a healthy pregnancy immediately after a D&C?

I had my D&C on July 29th and did not wait 2 weeks to have sex... I was emotionally unbalanced but we were at least smart enough to wear a condom for 2 weeks. It has now been 3 weeks and we have had unprotected sex multiple times.

I'm just wondering if I did happen to fall pregnant (which I doubt) would it be safe for the baby? Has anyone else gotten preggo in the first month?

Please only answer if you have knowledge on this. And I already know its not ideal so no negativity please, thanks.

  • Anyone have a "regular" abdominal ultrasound at 6-7 weeks?

    NOT TRANSVAGINAL?

And if so, what did you see?

    4 AnswersPregnancy10 years ago
  • 7 weeks and an empty sac? anyone else go on to have a healthy baby after?

I had a sonogram done today... abdominal not transvaginal. I am 7 weeks by LMP and to be honest I can't be less than 6 weeks because I'm fairly certain I concieved first week in May as I had a positive hpt 4 days before expected period.

Anyway all I could see was a huge black void. The sac was huge and nothing was inside. Doctor did the test not a sonographer.

He is trying his best to make me feel better and has scheduled me for a 2nd one in 2 weeks, but I'm so depressed as is my husband. We both feel at fault. Doctor alsxo said my blood test at 4 weeks was very high... I guess hcg of about 800 but at that point I was more like 3 weeks because I had my lmp screwed up in his chart. Has anyone experienced just a gestational sac as late as 6-7 weeks and continued with their pregnancy?

  • I want an ultrasound to save my sanity?

I am going to be 7 weeks on Tuesday and I an sort of depressed about this whole pregnancy thing. I try to be excited but I'm so worried and feel out of the loop. I want to request an ultrasound to see it... and therefore be assured its not dead and rotting and also hopefully make me feel more connected.

How can I convince a clinic to give me an ultrasound soon? Lol it might sound stupid but I'm very serious.

  • I made my first prenatal appointment for the end of july?

I am 6 weeks 1 day and I made the appt for when I will be 12 weeks. Is this normal? I have vacation that week plus I figured maybe they'd squeeze me in for an ultrasoind around that time. But is this too late or is it normal? Should I have tried to get in sooner and called in sick to work? I'm paranoid about miscarriage and I figure id rather be seen then and told it died than to go now and get excited then lose it after. Is this rational thinking?

    When was your first appointment?

  • Is it appropriate to call dr to ask for blood test results?

I'm just anxious to know... 5 positive home tests, one borderline faint dr urine test... and its been 2 days. They told me they would call in 48 hours... its been 51! Lol! I know is SHOULD be patient but I just want to know so bad... if they have them in but just havnt had a moment to cal... etc. Is it okay for me to call or would that piss them off? Is it rude? Thanks.

  • Doctor used the term "barely positive"??? (repost)?

So the doctory literally said i'm "barely pregnant"? I have had 5 positive hpts since Saturday and went to a clinic today for confirmation which is soooo important to me because everyone in my life has found out and is excited and I'm not even sure! Anyway, he said my urine test waas "barely positive" and he says he is about "80% sure" I am. WTF? So I asked him for a blood test, he at first said no and then I started crying like a hormonal idiot and told him that my parents and husband were so happy and already planning things and here I am not even sure I'm pregnant! Anyway he felt bad I guess because he sent me to get bloodwork and scheduled a new appt for next week to try again.

This is so frustrating! As far as I knew... a positive is a positive even when faint so why would he say "maybe"? I'm so upset. Plus I'm terrified I'll miscarry so him telling me that after 5 home tests makes me fear I'm losing it. UGH. Is this possible?

  • Okay one more question... pregnant but hurts?

So I took a test this morning came back positive but didn't believe it. Was going to wait till tomorrow but mom made me take another at 6pm... I told her it wouldn't be positive... not that late in the day being I'm still 4 days from expected period! But I did it to please her and that came up positive too! Like RIGHT AWAY.

Anyway all day since this morning I have had periodic sharp pains near where I assume my right ovary is... like gas pains except all day on and off and they havnt moved. Is this a sign of an ectopic pregnancy? Because I don't even have a doctors appt yet and tomorrow is Sunday so I have to wait till Monday and I'm worried. What if I miscarry or it bursts before I get to one?

  • Is it possible? false positive?

I took a digital first response today... 4 days before my expected period after a night of drinking just for the hell of it. The test itself was pretty old, I bought it a year or so ago but the expiration isn't until august. So my question is, can it be reliable so early when it's so old? I heard digital tests are at a higher hgc threshold so could it even be picking it all up this soon?

Id love for it to be true but I don't want to even think abouit it until I know for sure. I will retest tomorrow with a red dye test new, this time.

  • Digital first response?

If the expikration date is august 2011 its a year old will it give a false positive? I'm freaking out a little. Also I went out drinking last night so I figured pee would be diluted. I'm not on medication of any kind.

  • Mamma cat wont drink water?

Okay I asked a question last night about my cat and lactation etc. She had a c-section after birthing two stillborns plus a spay, and is feeding the kittwn normally. But now I am worried about her.

She has no problem eating... if I hold a bowl of wet food in her face she will eat a bit. So I mixed in water and she ate some last night. Today I gave her some kmr very diluted and she drank some of that but only if I put it in her face. She won't go near the plain water and I'm getting worried. She gets up every so ofen to go sit in the bathtub I don't know why but there isn't water in there. She also has been urinating but that could be residual from the fluids the vet gave her yesterday. I can't keep taking her back to the vet for IVS. Why is this happening? What can I do? Anyone know?

  • How do i know if my mother cat is actually lactating?

My cat, who is almost 4 just had her second litter of 3 2 days ago... but the first two were stillborn so we took her to the vet. She was bleeding heavily and the births were 12 hours apart. They discovered on still inside due to x-ray and I asked vet to do a c-section and spay at the same time. They called to tell me yesterday that mamma cat survived but the kitten was born dead, and they recussutated it but suspected severe brain damage and planned to euthanize it. I picked her up a half hour later.

Today they called and said one of the techs decided to try and take it home overnight and it survived. I took mamma back to the vet and introduced kitten and all was well... kitten began suckling. They told me they were not positive she was actually getting milk due to the spay and subsequent drop in hormones.

My question is how do I know for sure she is lactating and feeding the baby? I don't hear baby fussing too much but I also don't see or feel milk when I squeeze mamma's nips. Baby also won't take a bottle. Is this a good sign? Thanks.
