  • Is my Marine recruiter lying to me?

He told me I have to go to MEPS before I select a job field, Everyones told me I'm supposed to select one or a few before I go to MEPs because thats where I sign the contract to become whatever I selected/scored high enough for.

When I asked him about my concerns he claimed that he cant send me there open contract without me having to talk to the main recruiter and have waivers signed.

To sum it up I just want to know when/where do I sign the contract that I will be joining and can't back away.

And when am I SUPPOSED to select a job field?

  • 1987 GMC pick up fuel regulator?

Hi, I have an '87 Gmc Sierra. 350 engine.

we're replacing the fuel filter, but can't find the fuel regulator?

I've checked under the driver side, all I see is the filter. I traced back up to the injectors it's just line.

Am I just not seeing it or is it possible that there isn't one?

If there isn't one, How should we go about bleeding out the fuel?

    Thanks.

  • Working for myself, Good or bad?

I have a few questions about this any answers, tips or advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm turning 18 soon and wanting to move out, clearly going to need a source of income. When I lived in Virginia I did general labor and brought in a fair amount a month and that was while limited to how much I could do because my family wanted their free slave.

    So my questions are:

-Do I need to have a 'business license' or anything like that to do something like this? (mowing, Light hauling, cleaning ETC)

-If leasing a place, would this be considered adequate employment as proof that I could pay the rent?

-If someone worked with me on SOME of the jobs, would it consider him/her as an employee?

-How would I judge income taxes on this since it wouldn't be automatically subtracted? Would I even have to pay income taxes?

-Not sure if it would matter, but if the tools, Lawn mowers, chainsaws ETC are used for jobs like this as a full time employment. I am still allowed to do the repairs myself right? Don't need some over priced certified technician to replace a carburetor?

-Do I need/would want insurance? I never had a problem with damaging property because I over prepared safety always. If so, where would I look for finding insurance?

-Lastly, If later in life I end up needing to work for someone else. Would this be considered legal previous employment experience?

Sorry for asking so much, Just don't want to go into this cold cruel world blind.

Yeah I wanted to lock some folders that will require a password to view. (other than to just get onto my profile on the laptop)

  • Practice test for ASVAB score?

I took a practice tests for the ASVAB, Average score was about 63% correct

Is that as bad as I think it is?

I was pulled out of school in 5th grade and home schooled since.

If my score is way to low, any advice on helping raise it up?

what really killed my score was General science (Never studied it) and Arithmetic.

I found a free site I've been using for raising my Arithmetic reasoning skill called Khanacademy.org

If it really matters: I'm 17, turn 18 in April. Plan to talk to a recruiter when my average score is 75% or higher and continue my studying even after that point.

Physically: Prepared for military work, I've grown up on a farm heating the house with a wood stove. few month back started a PT routine.

Any advice be great, Thanks in advance.

  • What's wrong with me mentally?

It's long so please bare with me.

    I'm 17 now. Almost 18. Male.

Lately more than usual I can't sleep.. my emotions are everywhere. I don't know how to word it but I can't even keep up with what my mind is thinking... if that made sense. I've been getting random colds running nose, irritated eyes, head aches randomly through out the day and night.

When I do sleep, I wake up sore and tired and empty...

I know I am some level of bipolar, the online tests I've done all say severely but I don't think it's that bad. I don't know.

This has all been going on most my life.

Some other information that might be helpful I don't know...

Alcohol: Had a sip that's all. tasted horrible.

Smoking: One cigarette never finished the whole thing didn't really like it.

Friends: None in real life because of my over controlling mother, I have a few online but most of them are busy with their lives so I barley talk to them

My father left when I was 1 so grew up without a father if that matters.

Home life: Pretty much a wreck, my mom tries to have the 'almighty self sufficient life', But clearly has no clue what she is doing and has me do most of any of the strenuous work. My right wrist has some form of injury that occurs in a sharp pain for a minute or two every now and then at random not sure what that is.

School: Home schooled if you call it that, pretty much pulled out of public school at 5th grade and stuck at home. Don't really do any of the lessons just the tests at the end of the school year without any knowledge of what half of the questions are. I'm almost above average on the results when we get the back from the state. ( I try teaching myself )

Job: Want one really bad... but stuck here because mom wants her slave to be ready at a moments notice...

I'm not sure what else to write, ask for anything else you'd like to know.

Pretty much the question is... is the reason I can't sleep, am sore when I do sleep, get sick all the time and that stuff because of depression or is it something else causing it or what or any advice would be nice.

  • No power in only one room?

Last night the power in my room died, Just cut off all of a sudden.. no storms no heavy winds.

the light and the sockets don't work only in the one room. The light outside my door is just fine, The outlets outside my room are fine.

I've already checked the breaker, None are tripped and I reset the one to my room.

I didn't smell any burning or smoke smells.

A friend said I might have overloaded it.. all I had running was my laptop charger and alarm clock.

any ideas what happened? or how to fix it?

  • If I walked out that door?

    I'm 17. Turn 18 in April 2012

So my question is, what could 'legally' happen to me if I just walked out that door, taking nothing but the clothes on my back and never looked back. (along with a stash of cash I've accumulated over the years that only me, one friend and now the reader knows about)

And I have an Online friend that I've known for around 6 years that I feel would be investigated for my whereabouts. What would happen to her? (she is not in the same state as me if that matters)

    Please note the following:

    -This is theoretical of course.

-The reason I would only take the clothes on my back and my secret 'stash' is because I don't want to be charged with 'stealing' anything.

-The reason I listed the stash of cash is because walking out the door with nothing would seem idiotic.

  • pre-education requirements for the U.S Marine Corps?

Hey got a few questions I'd like to ask.

    1) I'm home schooled and will NOT be receiving a high school diploma. But I do take the S.A.T testing at the end of the school year and receive a letter that says if I passed the grade or not. Will the letter be enough?

    2) I've taken quite a few online ASVAB tests, I get 80%+ on all category's except word knowledge. Any advice on where to start studying this? Should I read the dictionary a few times?

    Thanks in advance.
