i have not had the mastectomy yet and won't for a while, this is because i haven't been diagnosed with breast cancer, but i do have the BRAC1 gene deformity that causes it. I have been offered the chance to remove any risk through having a double mastectomy, to include removal of all tissue and lymph nodes, which i am seriously considering. The only problem i have is that after this has taken place, how long will my wait be before i could have the reconstructive surgery to replace my bust? Also, if anyone has had this done, how natural is the end result??

ok, basically my paternal grandfather and my paternal aunt both have suffered with cancer, fortunately, both are in remission. My maternal grandmother and maternal aunt have both also had cancer, my nan passed away as a result, but my aunt is in remission. My mother whom i havent had any contact with for several years got my sister to call me today to let me know that she has just been diagnosed with it also.

I can remember some talk last year of a cancerous gene which we either do or don't carry, is this true and can i get tested to find out if i have this gene?

I run a ladies tug of war team and need to find out where i can get some new kit from, in particular, belts. We would like pink ones, but have yet to find anywhere that stocks them. They are like the weightlifting ones with the lumber support, but pink!!

I moved back into the country 20 years ago with my mum and sister and then was put into care at the age of 14 following several years of physical and mental abuse from my mother. She rang me last week and gave me the policy number and telephone number for an insurance policy she took out for myself when we moved here. When i rang the company, they told me that the policy was due to mature and i have a lump sum to be paid back to me. I rang my sister (who still lives with my mum) to see what she was doing with it and she said that she is having the cheque paid directly to mum because mum was the one who paid into it. I know my sister will benefit from it anyway, but as i have little or no contact with mum, neither myself, husband or children would, if i gave it straight to her. Is it wrong to keep the money, or should i give it to her?

My mother and father in law both have wide ankles and find it difficult to get socks that are wide enough to fit without cutting in. does anyone know where i can get some from??
