I am an avid PS3 fan, but don't classify myself as a fanboy. I like to have good arguments online, but don't lie about anything or stretch the facts like some fanboys feel the need to. If you have a different opinion I can respect that, but I despise people with blind loyalty to a company for absolutely no reason. My reason for preferring the Playstation brand is simply the exclusives it offers. My favorite games of all time are Shadow of the Colosus, ICO, the Legacy of Kain series (mostly for the story), Zelda OoT/MM, and LBP.

  • Board Game with Battles - easier than Risk or Axis & Allies?

I'm looking for a strategy board game that is fairly quick (couple of hours), has a battle system, and is fairly easy to manage and play. I like miniature pieces, but would rather not spend an hour setting a board up and would like to limit the clutter (like axis & allies which has you start out with like 1000 pieces on the board).

I tried getting my friends to play Settlers of Catan, but nobody could get into it (even me). I feel like a war game is easier to get people involved in. We play Muchkin a lot, but I would prefer a more complex combat system. I wouldn't mind a game that mixes cards and a board. Basically, if you have read the online comic Erfworld, that would be a perfect game for me.

I also like the idea of Hex's and a modular board for infinite replay-ability (like Settlers of Catan). I would prefer a medieval, sci-fi or fantasy themed game, but I will not dismiss other games. I am not willing to paint pieces and D&D is out of the question (I would be interested in it, but everyone else I know are scared away by the name alone). Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

  • Video Camera and Equipment for Video Interviews?

I need to purchase a video camera with accessories for the company I work at. I think it would probably be a good idea to get a tripod and some sort of high quality external mic as well. It needs to take professional video that will mostly be going up on YouTube. It is going to be used for interviews, but I think we'll be filming award presentations and the like, as well (meaning more movement).

Also, I would need to edit the video on my computer.I just have a new Dell laptop (Win XP, 2.3ghz core2duo, and ~3.5gb of ram) with the adobe suite (including Premiere where I will edit video). I have never used premiere, but it looks like I should get a camera with a "tape-less format" like AVCHD (I am clueless about this part). Will this make the process easier?

Anyway, I'm looking for camera and accessory recommendations with these things in mind.

  • Best Board Game for adult families.?

I'm looking for a board game that my family (90% male) can play when we're together for holidays. I want something that moves fast and/or is strategic in nature. I also don't want it to be a "do stupid things" game like Cranium (which is fine, but we already have it).

I would like it to be complex, but not complicated. For example I think Risk would be fun, but the game is ridiculously hard to get started (nobody knows the rules, wtf are the cards for, etc.).

I know this sounds like a riddle or something, but really I just want something that is fun to play and around 8 people can play.

  • Border Crossing for Trade Show?

I have no idea what I need for this. Our company is travelling over the canadian border for a trade show next week. We are bringing our equipment (9 computers, 11 monitors, other random stuff) across the border ourselves. What paperwork do I need to fill out?

I need to know what's required for going into Canada, and for coming back into the US. Everything we are bringing is coming back with us (except some booklet we hand out).

  • Broadband Internet Anywhere?

I recently moved to an area with no cable. I am looking for a product that will give me fast speeds for gaming (specifically my PS3).

    Does such a product exist?

I keep hearing about a Verizon Broadband card, but I don't know if it's fast enough or can be used with the PS3. I'm also pretty certain it has a upload/download cap.

Is there anything else? Satellite sucks the big one. :/

  • Customers' or Customer's?

Which would it be for "...protect your customers' sensitive data"

I think customers should be plural, so I'm a bit confused.

  • Locked out of Windows 2000 machine?

    OMFG Help.

I tried logging into a co-workers windows 2000 machine and the passwords I tried were incorrect. Now it has "locked me out" and I can't try to log in again. I just want to get it back to normal so when my co-worker comes in tommorow she doesn't find a broken computer.

How the heck do I unlock it (I don't even care about logging in anymore).

  • Good, Large Graphic Novels?

I'm looking for something kind of specific. I want to get a few graphic novels that are large and complete. I do not like buying small volumes at $10 each, and want to get a complete story.

Something like Watchmen or Bone (really the only two I've ever read besides Erfworld, which is free online). I really liked all of those comics and am looking for something similar.

I read the first volume of Y: the last man, and would love to buy the complete collection as one book, but apparently it doesn't exist yet. As I said, I refuse to buy comics in 40 page sections which take 30 minutes to read and cost way too much. I almost got the Walking Dead Compendium Vol 1, but the Amazon vendor dropped my order and the price more than doubled everywhere else.

Anyway, I'm looking for action, adventure, fantasy etc. I really don't want standard superhero comics like Batman, etc. because I feel like I need to know back-story.

I'm going to try Mouse Guard which looks cool, any other suggestions?

  • DVI Dual link with DVI siingle link cord/monitor? And graphics card question?

I'm looking at AGP graphics card and one of the ones I was checking out only has 2 dual link DVI outputs. My monitor and DVI cord are single link so can I even get that card?

This is the card I'm looking at.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...

Is it any good or should I go with an Nvidia 7600GT (it apparently has cooling problems).

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...

Also, I'm trying to add this to a Dell, so will the standard power supply suffice? I would really prefer it if it did.

And yet another question, how do I know if the motherboard supports 8x? The computer is relatively new, but the first card seems to imply that 8x is required. Is there a program I could run that will tell me everything about the AGP slot (I'm currently running on board graphics)? Or is it safe to assume the computer is 8x? I'm very confused.

  • Best AGP graphics card for price?

I'm basically trying to decide between these AGP cards on Newegg.

    http://www.newegg.com/product/ProductList.aspx?Cat...

I don't really understand graphics cards anymore and I have become extremely confused. I just want the best card for under $150. I would like to run Crysis if possible (obviously not on high).

I know PCI Express is better, but I got this computer for free, so I'm going to make due (I don't play PC games often anyway).

Basically I want it to play games that are out now on medium. What confuses me is the major price variations. The best card is almost $200 and the next best isn't even $100. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, I only have single DVI, so could I use a dual link DVI card?

    Specs:

    Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.20 gHZ

2.19 gHZ, 3.24 GB of RAM

  • Good Graphic Novels?

I recently read "Watchmen" and thought it was awesome. I was wondering if someone could recommend some more graphic novels I could get into.

I'm 22 and would be looking for something more mature with a really good storyline (art is secondary). I don't really want anything that keeps going, or that continues another story. I want it to stand on its own like watchmen does. So no Batman/Superman unless it is a must have and can stand alone in the series (I don't read comic books and don't want to miss a reference or character background because I haven't read something else).

    Thanks in advance.

  • How to edit files in Ubuntu?

I'm new to Ubuntu and need to alter one of the files in the file system (which I guess is basically the same as C drive in Windows). Specifically I need to access the snes9x.conf file (located in etc/snes9x). I have made backup files already but I can not alter the file or copy files into the folder. It says I do not have the permissions.

I just want to change permissions for that file. I am getting used to the terminal, but I still don't understand how to do this, so if you know the correct code it would be much appreciated. If there is a way to do it outside of the terminal, that would also be helpful.

I'm using Ubuntu 7.10 on the PS3 (so its the PPC version).

    Thanks in advance.

  • Install Ubuntu with USB thumbdrive from windows?

This is kind of a long shot, but I want to install Ubuntu as an alternate OS on my PC (and on a seperate hard drive). I currently have Windows XP installed and I'm a total Linux noob. I also just found out that my cd/dvd burner is not functioning properly.

So basically what I want to know is if I can install Ubuntu from a windows xp PC with a USB thumb drive. Any info/directions/links would be greatly appreciated.

  • PS3 - UT3 mods and maps?

Anyone know a site where I can find all the PS3 Unreal Tournament mods and maps with brief descriptions/images about what they are?

I'd rather not scour the internet looking for UT3 stuff. I just want one site that finds it all for me and lets me know whats worth getting.

If any fanboys feel like saying "shoulda got a xbox" or anything like that...don't. So help me God, I will castrate you with words.

  • Dell laptop screen distortion?

My Dell Inspiron 600m keeps getting green or red lines/rectangles through the screen. It happens sporadically, and always when I try to watch video (currently it's all over my background, and refresh doesn't do anything). I thought it might be the graphics driver, but when I try installing the driver it won't work, and keeps giving me errors. The card is an ATI mobility radeon 9100. Can someone please tell me the problem or find the correct driver for me? Thanks.

And I would prefer one without the stupid ATI program, thanks again.

  • Need another anime series?

I'm looking for something similar to Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. Something with a fixed number of episodes (around 30, unless there is one with more, that you think I absolutely MUST see), that won't drag on forever.

I've already seen the ones mentioned above as well as Gun X Sword, Last Exile, Ergo Proxy, GTO, Trigun and Evangelion (the last one wasn't really my cup of tea). Keep in mind I'm 22 and would like something a little more mature.

  • Friend got this Riddle at a job interview...?

There is an enclosed room with 3 light bulbs. Outside that room are 3 switches. You need to find out which switch turns on which light bulb, but you can only enter the room once (there are no windows). How would you do it?

They asked my friend this during a phone interview...after about 10 minutes of silence, he didn't get the job. How fudged up is that?

  • Deja Vu? Does this happen to you?

Sometimes I get Deja Vu, where I remember doing something else in the moment that I'm currently in. However, I feel compelled to change the moment. I do something that I know didn't happen. Usually its as simple as saying something different, or hesitating. I was just wondering if this happens to other people, and if you feel compelled to "change the future?"
