Can somebody point me towards a PROPER explanation of the English Language TENSES?
I am already sick and tired of the explanations given on all sorts of grammar websites and in books. I'm tired of seeing that Present Perfect is used for an action that happened in an unfinished time period, or for something that has consequences in the present. I would like something more unifying, something that would help you understand how is IN GENERAL a certain Tense used, not tens of possibilities for every Tense.
2 AnswersLanguages6 years agoCould you please suggest me some good resources(books, websites) to properly understand The English Language?
I want something that is relatively concise(max 300 pages A4 if it's a e-book in PDF format). I want it(book, website ... whatever) to thoroughly explain why certain tenses are used, why certain prepositions, adjectives, suffixes and so on are used. I can speak English well, but I don't quite understand it. I learnt it like a child learns it and I can't always explain to others why I chose a certain word or verb tense. I want to teach somebody English and I would like to understand it myself properly so that I can explain it properly.
1 AnswerLanguages6 years agoHow long did it take you to learn Drupal? I already know HTML, CSS, Javascript+jQuery and of course MySQL and PHP ...all to a decent level?
I also played a little bit with Magento and I really liked it, it's beautifully organized. Please give some additional facts, like how long have you worked with Drupal, what is your knowledge of other programming languages, etc.
1 AnswerProgramming & Design6 years agoAnybody from England can tell me what would the requirements for a Front-End Developer or a PHP Web Developer would be?
I am thinking about a junior position with no experience or an internship position. I understand HTML and CSS quite well, I understand Javascript, although not entirely. I know jquery, mysql and php(procedural for now).
The question is do I have a chance to get a job with this or do I absolutely need to have a portfolio? I'm just throwing the net here, maybe I catch something(informations). I've searched on google too, but it'd be lovely if someone from England actually can give me a more detailed and closer to reality answer.

Since Ebola is flu-like, doesn't it actually thrive in lower temperatures?
3 AnswersBiology7 years agoDoes anyone around know how much time would it take to build an Operating System and by how many people ?
I'm trying to make an estimate as to how much it would cost and how much profit corporations like Microsoft and Apple are getting out of it ... when compared to the cost of the programmers and hardware implied.
1 AnswerSoftware7 years agoWhat should a "php developer to be" know to be suited for an Entry Level position?
At the moment I know HTML, CSS, Javascript and jquery all at a basic level, that means I know how they work and I know to do certain basic stuff within a page, but haven't practiced enough to be really good at it. Let's say my theoretical knowledge is way ahead of my practical knowledge.
I also know SQL and mySQL, the queries and the DB design, normalisation, joins, indexes. I know PHP's syntax(variables, types, functions, loops and some of its OOP side), using mysqli_, including files and certain securities basics like htmlspecialchars and mysqli_real_escape_string.
The question is: Is it enough for an entry level position? I feel like I could learn way better in a company than I am doing it at home so I should be given a chance.
Programming & Design7 years agoHow much PHP can a software tester learn due to his daily tasks?
If I were to get hired as a PHP tester(I do have knowledge of PHP, SQL, Javascript, jquery, CSS and XHTML) how much PHP would I learn from the experience as a QA tester? What are the tasks exactly for a software tester and how much PHP learning does it involve on a daily basis?
I do have some QA Testing experience(although it was for games) and I would like to know if getting a Software Tester(Web Development, PHP-based) entry level would help me learn PHP better.

6 AnswersGender Studies7 years agoBest way to learn web development?
What is, from your experience, the best way to learn web development? I have learned html 5, css 3, am in the process of learning javascript and jquery, from books(Duckett mainly). I use firebug in mozilla firefox and also an IDE to write my own code(I don't like firebug that much). If you could give me some additional strategies, good concise books and things to pay attention to, in particular, that would be very much appreciated.
I thought that I'd learn html(5, xhtml), css, javascript(jquery), SQL and PHP. Anything else?
