This is a long question, so be warned in advance that it may take some time to hash out the details.

I am graduating in 10 days from Portland State University with my Bachelor's of Science degree in Political Science. I have taken courses in Writing, Law, Criminal Justice, Environmental Law, and Sociology. Unfortunately I have no hands on work, internship or volunteer experience to back up this education due to the fact that I have been putting myself through school by working my job in retail. I have 6+ years in retail and the only semi-related volunteer experience I do have is working as the assistant youth pastor for a youth group when I was 17 until I was about 21 years old. I was responsible for fund raising, managing the spending account of the youth group, and planning and organizing the events that the youth group would go on. This experience though has landed me only a handful of interviews for various wonderful organizations: Teach For America, Hajoca corporation, Police Department of Lake Oswego just to name a few. But it seems like I just don't have enough hands on experience to do the things I am really interested in and I am too apprehensive to take a big risk on an organization that seems a bit fraudulent (Such as all of the "run your own grassroots campaign" ads I see all over craigslist and idealist).

What I want to do one day is enter politics, run for office and make a change. But that is the long term goal. My short term goal is to find a career that introduces me into the realm of public policy, activism and even education. I live in the Portland Metro Area but I am willing to relocate. I just don't know what crucial element I am missing in all of my applications and job inquiries?

Did I pick the wrong major? Should I just buck up and seek grad school options? (I have a 3.0 GPA at the moment.) Is my retail experience hurting me?

I guess I would just like advice as to what my next step should be. I don't really care what I do as long as it is ultimately not a retail clerk position and is something that impacts the lives of the public in a way that is beneficial.

I am interested in opening a hookah lounge in Oregon, But I am confused about certain regulations and restrictions involved in opening said hookah lounge. Specifically Oregon House Bill 2726. A lot of articles say it bans new lounges from opening but I would really appreciate some actual decoding of the legal speak and I just want a bare bones answer with possible ways around it as well as an answer to whether I should seek to open this enterprise in other areas such as Vancouver, Washington

I smoked a bit of shisha from a hookah on Sunday night with some friends, not thinking that I have a nicotine mouth swab test for my health insurance on Wednesday (tomorrow). Since I am not a smoker on a regular basis,will the nicotine show up in my saliva? or will it be out of my system by now? Are there any things I can do to help me pass this test and not have my premiums go up?

So I am starting my final year of undergraduate studies. My Major is Political Science, and I want to go into a career in local politics helping run city and county governments. What can I do in my final year of college to really get my career jump started? I honestly haven't done anything to really prepare as I have been focusing on getting the school work done and working full time to pay for that schooling. I would just like some advice as far as resume building, where to look for jobs or internships, how to get in with a local governing body and how I can slowly start getting involved more in ways related to my major. I was in the shower today, and the soap fell on the floor, I bent down to pick it up, but was too close to the little plug you pull out that switches the flow from the bath head to the shower head, and I caught the upper part of anal cleft caught on it. I felt some pain and there is light spotting of blood... Obviously it is just an injury but should I be careful to make sure I don't get an infection from the blood? Are there any serious things to worry about with this?

A friend of Mine was recently kicked out. Her mother has her Passport, Social Security Card, and Birth certificate and refuses to give them to her so she can obtain a job and be able to support herself. I feel like this has to be illegal since she is over the age of 18 and those documents should technically be her personal property. Is there anyway to get them from her mother by going through police or the courts? She has no other state ID other than her passport so ordering the records from the Vital Records department is not possible as far as I can tell. How best can we go about resolving this issue. Her mother won't budge on this issue and is using this as a way to gain control over her daughter.

So my Girlfriend is 19, and moving out of her parent's house. The problem is that she has none of her vital documents. Her birth certificate, passport, and her social security card are all in a safe locked up in her mother's room. The problem is that she needs these documents in order to get anywhere in life. We live in Oregon. Are there any laws, or ways in which to get the documents from her if her mother refuses her initial requests? Anyway that she can perhaps go around her mother and obtain these documents for herself from the office of Vital Records?

I have a half brother who was convicted of committing a horrible crime some 6 or 7 years ago. Can having a relation who is serving life in prison hurt my chances in the political world? Can it hurt if going into criminal justice or a career in law? these are three areas I am interested in and Political Science is really a big passion for me.

I do not speak or correspond with him for personal reasons and am pretty removed from him. Is this separation a good thing? Not morally, but politically?

So I was formatting my ex girlfriend's Dell computer using the discs that they gave us her with her purchase. I reinstalled the operating system, when I did this it asked me to choose a hard drive and gave me two options

Recovery (C)

OS (D)

the first time I tried this I got an error, saying a certain file couldn't be found. So I decided to try the recovery (C) drive and it worked.

The only problem is that the OS (D) partition still has all the old stuff and it wasn't completely formatted. How can I fix this and completely wipe the hard drive all together?

Sorry if this isn't very well described, I am do not know all of the right computer language. But help would be appreciated.

I was driving down the street the other day, when my check engine light decided it wanted to come on. I came to a stop light about 2 minutes later and when I stopped the car everything died. The engine still cranks but doesn't fire up. The mechanics think it is the timing belt? How bad is it? Is the 2003 PT Cruiser an Interference engine or non-interference engine? I am not sure on these things and I want to know whether my PT is a parts car or fixable still?

Alrighty, So my girlfriend and I have an apartment together. We are both on the lease, and are both equally responsible for said lease. With that being said, I am going to be ending it sometime this week because neither of us is really happy with how the relationship is going. I won't get into the details because I don't need relationship advice....but I do need advice on the living situation.

She has told me before that if we break up she would just up and leave, move out and not really let me know where she is going and would break contact with me.

But my question is, isn't she still responsible for the lease and therefore if I end up not being able to pay the rent, and they evict me it affects both of us right? And if we break up is it possible to hash out a realistic living situation for example I sleep on the couch and she keeps the room? Is this doable or am I just hoping for the best? We are really good friends and I would hate to see everything get ruined because of me ending it.

My girlfriend is sick again today. She has a sore throat, and feels like crap. She has had this same problem 2 other times in the past 3 months. Last time, they did a test for strep, but it came back inconclusive. they gave her the antibiotics for it anyway and she took them and started feeling better. But that was like 2 weeks ago. Now it is back, with a vengeance. She has a sore throat again, but isn't allowed to miss any more work or she will be fired! Do you guys think it is just another case of Strep? or is it her tonsils?

Also, a side question, Can her work fire her for needing a tonsillectomy, if it came to that?

My university has a criminology program. In the program, you can receive a Bachelor's degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. You can also receive certificates in other fields of study such as American Justice, Advanced Crime Analysis and Advanced Criminal behavior. I was curious as to whether or not I could get both the Bachelor's degree and the Certificate if I meet both requirements? I mean for instance, the Advanced Crime Analysis is basically 4 or 5 of the Core classes for the bachelor's degree and 3 or 4 classes of the electives for the bachelors degree. So it would make sense to be able to get both right?

Something I have noticed lately as I look through the fiction section at my local Barnes and Noble Book Store is that There are many books coming out that are based off of video games, movies, and even card games. What I am wondering is how these people go about getting the rights to the original subjects of their books. Do these books even sell that well? Just something that boggles me.

Ok so my buddy has been in the same relationship for 2 years. He tried breaking it off last december, but she guilted him into giving her another chance. So he is in this relationship and he is miserable, I guessed it and then asked him about it and he confirmed what I thought. Anyway, should he deal with this relationship. She makes him miserable, she doesn't want to change herself for the better health or education wise and she is lazy beyond belief. But he feels like he can't leave her because he is obligated to be with her. How can I help my buddy end this relationship?

So I have had this Toshiba Satellite A210 Series Laptop for about a year and a half and I haven't done the full system recovery before, but I did tonight. Well I backed up all my important data (music, documents, pictures etc) on CDs. but now my CD/DVD RW drive will not work? Has anyone experienced this before? How do I fix it? What should I do?

I currently have 4 tomatoes, three habeneros, three seranos, 2 jalepenos, vinegar, water, salt and garlic. Are there any other ingredients I am missing for this hot sauce I am trying to conjure up out of nowhere. I was just thinking about it and I was wondering if there is a way I can tell if it is going to be another crazy winter here in Oregon, USA again. I mean last year we had record snow, i mean I had to walk to work because the bus lines stopped. I like walking, but it was insane. So I am wondering if I can expect to see that again this year. I am gonna be moving out with some friends from my old high school to kind of have a bachelor pad if you know what i mean. Well I currently live with some amazing land lords and am sad to leave, but I need to write a nice, firm 30 days notice to give them on the first of the month. I have never had to write one, so a good template or a few good ideas that you could give me would be great.
