I like to learn from others and share what little I know with others. All kinds of science fascinates me, espescially, space technology and biology, and geology and terrestrial and planetessimal history. The more I learn, the more I love it. I'm an optimist, and a fighter, and am always looking to help save the world and planet. I have a deep respect for nature, and love it immensely. I can think of mothing greater, really. I am a capricorn/aquarius cusp, born in 65 , the calender year of the wood snake, but fall within the Chinese year of the wood dragon, as the chinese year don't change til February 2nd that year. So I guess I am a chinese dragon. That exdplains my abundant health and energy. I think I am a leader type, since I don't like to be a follower, non conformist. I love to laugh, and many of these answers have me extatic with laughter. There are some pretty funny ones out there to entertain me. I have , however , never been bored in my life , ever. I always have something

  • anyone know where the largest deposit of beryllium might be?

it seems that berylliums latest application in nuclear tech is of high value. The metal has extraordinary properties, light and strong, resistant to heat etc. Who knows what all it could be used for in an alloyic combination, even with some shape memory materials.

  • help troubleshooting problem with my 83 Caprice?

I'm trying to find the problem by fixing the cheaper things first, rather than spend a lot of money on diagnostics. Besides the o2 sensors and electronic system has been diabled and nowadays mech are helpless without their comps or chips to tell em what's going on. So are there any oldschool mechs out there that might know chevys inside out , that would help I'd be eternally grateful. I have rplaced the factory 305 with a rebuilt 305 with the new reinforced cams. The distributor is replaced by a nonelectronic HEI, the intake is an Edelbrock, with a 650 CFM 4barrel carb.Anyways my son who I built it for drove it on a real muddy and bumpy in the dark and according to him hit a bump real hard. When I got home acouple of days later It would'nt seem to run much faster than 15 to 20 mph. It was like the car that usually could fly had asthma. I hope to God it's not the transmission for it has the Th 700 R4. Someone suggested the evap can, or a vacuum leak in relation to it. I heard that although evap can almost never go out, that if the do, you will have about a 75 or more % power loss.My friend Charlie kept insisting that it was the cat converter. So with much struggling in the heat(AZ desert) we got it off, only to find that it had no platinum mesh in there. So I took it off because a friend wanted it, but had to cut off rear fitting from converter and had the pipe insert pounded well into it and spotwelded (shitty weld, but since I was broke I couldn't just pick my welder), I clamped everything in place, started her up just to find that it leaked right there, by placeing my hand near the weld. I should just have left the converter on as it had no obstruction. The car also keeps surging, so I suspect that the convertyers platinum mesh got blown backwards, and is now obstructing either the muffler or got caught in one of the many 90 degree agle turns on that tail pipe, making the leak at the spotweld even worse as that exhauxt is trying to take the path of less resistance prior to the obstruction. Could I be right in this assumption? SO I went to dismount the blasted muffler only to find that it's not only clamped , but also has a ugly big weld job on the rear sise of it. I wanted to see if I could take the muffler off and look for or try to clear out possible obstruction, and while muffler was out run a semi rigid wire thru exhaust pipe both in front and towards the rear of muffler. Finding that weld was really dissappointing, as I now have no money to pay other, and live way out there in the desert with my 16 year old kid, and without wheel I can't even go get a job, nor anything else. I've been walking 14 miles to town in 100 plus degrees, to the junk yards to try to find parts. It's really hard as I have no money, nor anyone to help. And every time I think I've found someone to help, all they wanna do, is help themselves. I'm running out of time,as I can't be without electricity, and without work, can'e make money. Some one suggested that an exhaust leak can cause a vacuum leak. And the Transmission governer was mentioned. Please help anyone

  • my v6 88 toyota 4wd p/u w/autom. tranny has no power-espescially on even the slightest incline?

I already have nearly 6 grand into it. Someone suggested that it could be the airflow sensor. I already had a new torque converter put in and had it reconditioned. It's like there is no throttle response while it's in drive. But, there is normal throttle response while it's in park. Any ideas, anyone?

  • freightliner columbia jake brake malfunction?

My boss Angel has a 2001 Freightliner Columbia with an Eaton Fuller tenspeed automatic tranny. He says when you first start out driving the jake brake comes on all on it's own, without being engaged, between 2nd and third gear , making shifting jerky. This sometimes also happens between 3rd and 4rth. Sometimes , though it doesn't happen at all. What could this be? A lose wire or something. A crack in the ECM motherboard. Wires with worn insulation infrequently touching or what? Angel wants to take it to the Freightliner shop in Fontana, Ca, but those guys screwed up on my Century. They replaced the entire fuel injection wiring harness, and that cost no less than $2000,-. When I got to Flagstaff it started really going berserk on those last grades. I was able to drive it in a lower gear on the shoulder to the Flagstaff Freightliner shop who found that the ECM had a crack on the circiutboard, and when the truck got to the higher elevations the temperature difference related contractions caused temporary connection severances, and the engine would cough, and throw white and black smoke in turns. they replaced the ECM, and the problem never recurred. So, I am not too impressed with those overpriced Fontana guys. Not to mention the time it takes them. So, I thought I'd have nothing to lose by at least trying to see if there are anyone else out there that might know something of this strange jake brake problem. He's having a tough time financially, and I thought at least try to help out. Anyone got any ideas, or come across this bizarre occurance?

  • Anyone heard of the company Plasco?

that's generating plasma power generating stations? Could solar haeting help contribute in the formation of plasma?, so as to require less energy input in the process. And if this is possible, couldn't we Plasco put a plant in Death Valley?

There's plenty of solar heat there. And In the Saharan desert. It alone can generate enough power to power the entire globe.

And why haven't we built a solar power station in Death Valley?

    Ain't hardly anyone living there.
